Proverbi 24

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 - Non invidiare gli uomini cattivie non ambire di star con essi;	1 Do not imitate evil men, nor desire to be among them.
2 poichè la loro mente medita rapine, e le loro labbra parlano di inganni.	2 For their mind meditates on robberies, and their lips speak deceptions.
3 Con la saggezza si edificherà la casa e con la prudenza si assetterà.	3 By wisdom shall a house be built, and by prudence shall it be strengthened.
4 Con l'industria si riempiranno le stanze di tutta una preziosa e cospicua fortuna.	4 By doctrine, the storerooms shall be filled with every substance that is precious and most beautiful.
5 L'uomo saggio è forte e l'uomo dotto è robusto e vigoroso,	5 A wise man is strong, and a well-taught man is robust and valiant.
6 poichè secondo un piano si prepara la guerra, e la salvezza sta nella copia dei consigli.	6 For war is undertaken in an orderly manner, and safety shall be where there are many counsels.
7 La sapienza è troppo alta per lo stolto, egli non aprirà la bocca alla porta.	7 Wisdom is beyond the foolish; at the gate he will not open his mouth.
8 Chi pensa al mal fare, sarà chiamato stolto.	8 Whoever intends to do evil shall be called foolish.
9 Il pensier dello stolto è il peccato, e obbrobrio degli uomini il detrattore.	9 The intention of the foolish is sin. And the detractor is an abomination among men.
10 Se ti lasci abbattere disperando nel giorno dell'angustia, verrà meno la tua fortezza.	10 If you despair, being weary in the day of anguish, your strength will be diminished.
11 Libera coloro che son condotti alla morte e non indugiare a salvare quelli che son trascinati al supplizio.	11 Rescue those who are led away to death. And do not cease from delivering those who are dragged away to a violent death.
12 Ma dirai: «Non bastan le forze». Colui che scruta i cuori egli conosce; e nulla sfugge al custode dell'anima tua, e renderà all'uomo secondo il suo operato.	12 If you would say: “I do not have sufficient strength.” He who inspects the heart, the same one understands, and nothing slips past the one who preserves your soul. And he shall repay a man according to his works.
13 Mangia miele, o figliuolo mio, perchè è buono, un favo è dolcissimo al tuo palato.	13 My son, eat honey, because it is good, and the honeycomb, because it is so sweet to your throat.
14 Tale all'anima tua la cognizione della sapienza; e quando l'avrai trovata, avrai una speranza nell'avvenire e la tua aspettazione non andrà delusa.	14 So, too, is the doctrine of wisdom to your soul. When you have found it, you will have hope in the end, and your hope shall not perish.
15 Non insidiare alla casa del giusto, nè cercar malignitàe non turbare la sua quiete;	15 Do not lie in wait, and do not seek impiety in the house of the just, nor spoil his rest.
16 perchè il giusto cascherà sette volte e si rialzerà, ma gli empi precipiteranno nel male.	16 For the just one will fall seven times, and he shall rise again. But the impious will fall into evil.
17 Della caduta del tuo nemico, non te ne rallegrare, e della sua rovina non ti goda il cuore.	17 When your enemy will fall, do not be glad, and do not let your heart exult in his ruin,
18 Chè il Signore non veda e gli dispiaccia, e da lui storni l'ira sua.	18 lest perhaps the Lord see, and it displease him, and he may take away his wrath from him.
19 Non gareggiare coi malvagi, nè farti emulo degli empi;	19 Do not contend with the most wicked, and do not be a rival to the impious.
20 perchè i cattivi non hanno speranza nella vita avvenire e la lampada degli empi si estinguerà.	20 For the evil hold no hope in the future, and the lamp of the impious will be extinguished.
21 Temi, o figliuol mio, Iddio e il re e non t'immischiare coi detrattori;	21 My son, fear the Lord, as well as the king. And do not mingle with detractors.
22 perchè d'improvviso sopraggiungerà da essi lo sterminio e i castighi d'entrambi chi li può sapere?	22 For their perdition shall up rise suddenly. And who knows what ruin will be for each of them?
23 Anche queste [sentenze] sono dei sapienti. Fare eccezione di persone in giustizia, non va bene.	23 Likewise, these things are for the wise. It is not good to base judgment on knowledge of character.
24 Quelli che dicono all'empio: «Tu sei giusto», i popoli li malediranno e li detesteranno le genti.	24 Those who say to the impious, “You are just,” shall be cursed by the people, and the tribes shall detest them.
25 Quelli che lo castigano saranno lodati, e sopra loro scenderanno benedizioni.	25 Those who argue against the impious shall be praised, and a blessing shall come upon them.
26 Bacia sulle labbra chi risponde a proposito.	26 He shall kiss the lips, who responds with upright words.
27 Assesta le faccende di fuori, accudisci con cura la tua campagna, per poter poi metter su casa.	27 Prepare your outdoor work, and diligently cultivate your field, so that afterward, you may build your house.
28 Non testimoniare senza motivo contro il tuo prossimo, e non sedurre alcuno con le tue labbra.	28 Do not be a witness without cause against your neighbor. And do not mislead anyone with your lips.
29 Non dire: «Com'egli fece a me, così io farò a lui, renderò ad ognuno il fatto suo».	29 Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me.” I will repay each one according to his work.
30 Son passato pel campo del pigro e per la vigna dell'insensato,	30 I passed by the field of a lazy man, and by the vineyard of a foolish man,
31 ed ecco tutto era pieno d'ortiche e le spine avevano ricoperto la superficie e la chiusa di pietre era crollata.	31 and behold, it was entirely filled with nettles, and thorns had covered its surface, and the stonewall was destroyed.
32 Com'ebbi visto, vi posi mente e da tale esempio presi lezione.	32 When I had seen this, I laid it up in my heart, and by this example, I received discipline.
33 E dissi: «Un poco dormirai, un poco sonnecchierai, un po' starai colle mani in mano per riposarti.	33 You will sleep a little,” I said. “You will slumber briefly. You will fold your hands a little, so as to rest.
34 E ti sopraggiungerà, come corridore, la povertà e la miseria, come una staffetta».	34 And destitution will overtake you like a runner, and begging will overtake you like an armed man.”
