1 - Meglio un tozzo di pan secco in buona allegria, che una casa piena d'imbandigioni con discordia.	1 Better a dry crust with peace than a house full of feasting with strife.
2 Il servo saggio dominerà sui figli stoltie dividerà l'eredità con i fratelli.	2 An intelligent servant will rule over a worthless son, and will share the inheritance with the brothers.
3 Come l'argento si prova al fuoco e l'oro al fornello, così il Signore prova i cuori.	3 The crucible for silver, and the furnace for gold, but the tester of hearts is the LORD.
4 Il malvagio ubbidisce alla lingua iniqua, e l'impostore dà retta alle labbra bugiarde.	4 The evil man gives heed to wicked lips, and listens to falsehood from a mischievous tongue.
5 Chi disprezza il povero, oltraggia il suo fattore, e chi gode della rovina altrui, non andrà impunito.	5 He who mocks the poor blasphemes his Maker; he who is glad at calamity will not go unpunished.
6 Corona dei vecchi, i figli dei figli, e gloria dei figli, i loro padri.	6 Grandchildren are the crown of old men, and the glory of children is their parentage.
7 Non s'addice all'ignorante un linguaggio ricercato, nè al principe, un labbro mendace.	7 Fine words are out of place in a fool; how much more, lying words in a noble!
8 Gemma preziosissima è l'attesa di chi sta in aspettazione, dovunque si volge, si regola con attenzione.	8 A man who has a bribe to offer rates it a magic stone; at every turn it brings him success.
9 Chi cela il fallo procaccia amicizie e chi lo ridice, separa gli amici.	9 He who covers up a misdeed fosters friendship, but he who gossips about it separates friends.
10 Più giova una correzione al prudente, che cento legnate allo stolto.	10 A single reprimand does more for a man of intelligence than a hundred lashes for a fool.
11 Il malvagio cerca sempre sedizioni, ma un angelo crudele gli sarà inviato contro.	11 On rebellion alone is the wicked man bent, but a merciless messenger will be sent against him.
12 Meglio imbattersi in un'orsa derubata de' suoi nati, che nello stolto abbandonato alla sua stoltezza.	12 Face a bear robbed of her cubs, but never a fool in his folly!
13 Chi rende male per bene, non vedrà mai la sventura uscire di casa sua.	13 If a man returns evil for good, from his house evil will not depart.
14 Quei che dà la stura all'acqua gli è quei che dà principio alla rissa e poi si ritira, prima di soffrire oltraggio.	14 The start of strife is like the opening of a dam; therefore, check a quarrel before it begins!
15 Chi assolve l'empio e chi condanna il giustosono entrambi in abominio a Dio.	15 He who condones the wicked, he who condemns the just, are both an abomination to the LORD.
16 Che giova allo stolto aver ricchezze, se non può comperare la saggezza? Chi innalza la propria casa cerca rovina, e chi ricusa d'imparare cadrà nel male.	16 Of what use in the fool's hand are the means to buy wisdom, since he has no mind for it?
17 Chi è amico, ama sempre: e il fratello si esperimenta nelle avversità.	17 He who is a friend is always a friend, and a brother is born for the time of stress.
18 Lo stolto si frega le mani, quando entra mallevadore per l'amico.	18 Senseless is the man who gives his hand in pledge, who becomes surety for his neighbor.
19 Chi medita discordie, ama le risse, e chi alza la porta, cerca rovina.	19 He who loves strife loves guilt; he who builds his gate high courts disaster.
20 Chi è di cuor perverso, non troverà bene e chi ha lingua raggiratrice cadrà nei guai.	20 He who is perverse in heart finds no good, and a double-tongued man falls into trouble.
21 Nato è lo stolto a sua confusione, e neanche il padre si rallegrerà dello scemo.	21 To be a fool's parent is grief for a man; the father of a numskull has no joy.
22 L'animo allegro fa buon sangue e lo spirito triste secca le ossa.	22 A joyful heart is the health of the body, but a depressed spirit dries up the bones.
23 L'empio riceve doni di sotto mano, per sovvertire le vie della giustizia.	23 The wicked man accepts a concealed bribe to pervert the course of justice.
24 Sul volto del prudente riluce la sapienza; gli occhi degli stolti errano all'estremità della terra.	24 The man of intelligence fixes his gaze on wisdom, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.
25 Figlio stolto cruccio del padre, e dolore della madre che lo generò.	25 A foolish son is vexation to his father, and bitter sorrow to her who bore him.
26 Non è bene danneggiare il giusto, nè colpire un principe che rettamente giudica.	26 It is wrong to fine an innocent man, but beyond reason to scourge princes.
27 Chi modera i suoi discorsi è saggio ed accorto, e l'uomo che sa è di spirito riserbato.	27 He who spares his words is truly wise, and he who is chary of speech is a man of intelligence.
28 Anche lo stolto se tacerà sarà creduto saggio, e intelligente, se chiuderà le labbra.	28 Even a fool, if he keeps silent, is considered wise; if he closes his lips, intelligent.
