1 Di tre cose si compiace l’anima mia, ed esse sono gradite al Signore e agli uomini: concordia di fratelli, amicizia tra vicini, moglie e marito che vivono in piena armonia.	1 With three things I am delighted, for they are pleasing to the LORD and to men: Harmony among brethren, friendship among neighbors, and the mutual love of husband and wife.
2 Tre tipi di persone detesta l’anima mia, la loro vita è per me un grande orrore: il povero superbo, il ricco bugiardo, il vecchio adultero privo di senno.	2 Three kinds of men I hate; their manner of life I loathe indeed: A proud pauper, a rich dissembler, and an old man lecherous in his dotage.
3 Se non hai raccolto in gioventù, che cosa vuoi trovare nella vecchiaia?	3 What you have not saved in your youth, how will you acquire in your old age?
4 Quanto s’addice il giudicare ai capelli bianchi e agli anziani il saper dare consigli!	4 How becoming to the gray-haired is judgment, and a knowledge of counsel to those on in years!
5 Quanto s’addice la sapienza agli anziani, il discernimento e il consiglio alle persone onorate!	5 How becoming to the aged is wisdom, understanding and prudence to the venerable!
6 Corona dei vecchi è un’esperienza molteplice, loro vanto è temere il Signore.	6 The crown of old men is wide experience; their glory, the fear of the LORD.
7 Nove situazioni ritengo felici nel mio cuore, la decima la dirò con parole: un uomo allietato dai figli, chi vede da vivo la caduta dei suoi nemici;	7 There are nine who come to my mind as blessed, a tenth whom my tongue proclaims: The man who finds joy in his children, and he who lives to see his enemies' downfall.
8 felice chi vive con una moglie assennata, chi non ara con il bue e l’asino insieme, chi non ha peccato con la sua lingua, chi non ha servito a uno indegno di lui;	8 Happy is he who dwells with a sensible wife, and he who plows not like a donkey yoked with an ox. Happy is he who sins not with his tongue, and he who serves not his inferior.
9 felice chi ha trovato la prudenza, chi parla a gente che l’ascolta;	9 Happy is he who finds a friend and he who speaks to attentive ears.
10 quanto è grande chi ha trovato la sapienza, ma nessuno supera chi teme il Signore!	10 He who finds wisdom is great indeed, but not greater than he who fears the LORD.
11 Il timore del Signore vale più di ogni cosa; chi lo possiede a chi potrà essere paragonato?	11 Fear of the LORD surpasses all else. its possessor is beyond compare.
12 Il timore del Signore è inizio di amore per lui, la fede è inizio di adesione a lui.	12 Worst of all wounds is that of the heart, worst of all evils is that of a woman.
13 Qualunque ferita, ma non la ferita del cuore, qualunque malvagità, ma non la malvagità di una donna;	13 Worst of all sufferings is that from one's foes, worst of all vengeance is that of one's enemies:
14 qualunque sventura, ma non quella causata da persone che odiano, qualunque vendetta, ma non la vendetta dei nemici.	14 No poison worse than that of a serpent, no venom greater than that of a woman.
15 Non c’è veleno peggiore del veleno di un serpente, non c’è ira peggiore dell’ira di una donna.	15 With a dragon or a lion I would rather dwell than live with an evil woman.
16 Preferirei abitare con un leone e con un drago piuttosto che abitare con una donna malvagia.	16 Wickedness changes a woman's looks, and makes her sullen as a female bear.
17 La malvagità di una donna ne àltera l’aspetto, rende il suo volto tetro come quello di un orso.	17 When her husband sits among his neighbors, a bitter sigh escapes him unawares.
18 Suo marito siede in mezzo ai suoi vicini e senza volerlo geme amaramente.	18 There is scarce any evil like that in a woman; may she fall to the lot of the sinner!
19 Ogni malizia è nulla di fronte alla malizia di una donna, possa piombarle addosso la sorte del peccatore!	19 Like a sandy hill to aged feet is a railing wife to a quiet man.
20 Come una salita sabbiosa per i piedi di un vecchio, tale la donna linguacciuta per un uomo pacifico.	20 Stumble not through woman's beauty, nor be greedy for her wealth;
21 Non soccombere al fascino di una donna, per una donna non ardere di passione.	21 The man is a slave, in disgrace and shame, when a wife supports her husband.
22 Motivo di sdegno, di rimprovero e di grande disprezzo è una donna che mantiene il proprio marito.	22 Depressed mind, saddened face, broken heart--this from an evil wife. Feeble hands and quaking knees-- from a wife who brings no happiness to her husband.
23 Animo abbattuto e volto triste e ferita al cuore è una donna malvagia; mani inerti e ginocchia infiacchite, tale è colei che non rende felice il proprio marito.	23 In woman was sin's beginning, and because of her we all die.
24 Dalla donna ha inizio il peccato e per causa sua tutti moriamo.	24 Allow water no outlet, and be not indulgent to an erring wife.
25 Non dare all’acqua via d’uscita né libertà di parlare a una donna malvagia.	25 If she walks not by your side, cut her away from you.
26 Se non cammina al cenno della tua mano, separala dalla tua carne.
