BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Chi ama la correzione ama la scienza, chi odia il rimprovero è uno stupido.	1 Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, stupid are those who hate correction.
2 Chi è buono ottiene il favore del Signore, il quale condanna il malintenzionato.	2 The honest obtains Yahweh's favour, the schemer incurs his condemnation.
3 Non si consolida l’uomo con la malvagità, ma la radice dei giusti non sarà smossa.	3 No one is made secure by wickedness, but nothing shakes the roots of the upright.
4 Una donna forte è la corona del marito, ma quella svergognata è come carie nelle sue ossa.	4 A capable wife, her husband's crown, a shameless wife, a cancer in his bones.
5 I pensieri dei giusti sono equità, i propositi degli empi sono frode.	5 The plans of the upright are honest, the intrigues of the wicked are full of deceit.
6 Le parole degli empi sono insidie mortali, ma la bocca degli uomini retti li salverà.	6 The words of the wicked are snares to shed blood, what the honest say keeps them safe.
7 Gli empi, una volta abbattuti, più non sono, ma la casa dei giusti resta salda.	7 Once thrown down, the wicked are no more, but the house of the upright stands firm.
8 Un uomo è lodato in proporzione alla sua intelligenza, ma chi ha il cuore perverso è disprezzato.	8 Prudence wins praise, but a tortuous heart incurs only contempt.
9 Un uomo di poco conto che ha un servitore vale più di uno che si vanta, a cui manca il pane.	9 Better a common fel ow who has a slave than someone who gives himself airs and has nothing to eat.
10 Il giusto si prende cura del suo bestiame, ma i sentimenti degli empi sono spietati.	10 The upright has compassion on his animals, but the heart of the wicked is ruthless.
11 Chi coltiva la sua terra si sazia di pane, chi insegue chimere è proprio uno stolto.	11 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.
12 Le brame dell’empio sono una rete di mali, la radice dei giusti dà molto frutto.	12 The godless delights in the snare of the wicked, but the root of the upright bears fruit.
13 Nel peccato delle sue labbra si impiglia il malvagio, ma il giusto sfugge a tale angoscia.	13 In the sin of the lips lies a disastrous trap, but the upright finds a way out of misfortune.
14 Con il frutto della bocca ci si sazia di beni; ciascuno sarà ripagato secondo le sue opere.	14 Abundance of good things is the fruit of the lips; labour brings its own return.
15 La via del malvagio è retta ai propri occhi, il saggio, invece, ascolta il consiglio.	15 Fools think the way they go is straight, the wise listens to advice.
16 Lo stolto manifesta subito la sua collera, ma chi è avveduto dissimula l’offesa.	16 The fool shows anger straightaway, the discreet conceals dislike.
17 Chi dice la verità proclama la giustizia, chi testimonia il falso favorisce l’inganno.	17 To tel the truth is to further justice, a false witness is nothing but deceit.
18 C’è chi chiacchierando è come una spada tagliente, ma la lingua dei saggi risana.	18 Thoughtless words can wound like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
19 Il labbro veritiero resta saldo per sempre, quello bugiardo per un istante solo.	19 Sincere lips endure for ever, the lying tongue lasts only a moment.
20 L’inganno è nel cuore di chi trama il male, la gioia invece è di chi promuove la pace.	20 Deceit is in the heart of the schemer, joy with those who give counsels of peace.
21 Al giusto non può accadere alcun male, i malvagi invece sono pieni di guai.	21 No harm can come to the upright, but the wicked are swamped by misfortunes.
22 Le labbra bugiarde sono un obbrobrio per il Signore: egli si compiace di chiunque fa la verità.	22 Lying lips are abhorrent to Yahweh; dear to him those who make truth their way of life.
23 Chi è avveduto nasconde quello che sa, il cuore degli stolti proclama stoltezze.	23 The discreet keeps knowledge hidden, the heart of fools proclaims their folly.
24 La mano operosa ottiene il comando, quella pigra invece è destinata a servire.	24 For the diligent hand, authority; for the slack hand, forced labour.
25 L’afflizione deprime il cuore dell’uomo, una parola buona lo allieta.	25 Worry makes a heart heavy, a kindly word makes it glad.
26 Il giusto è guida sicura per il suo prossimo, ma la via dei malvagi li porta fuori strada.	26 The upright shows the way to a friend; the way of the wicked leads them astray.
27 Il pigro non troverà selvaggina, ma la persona industriosa possiede una fortuna.	27 The idle has no game to roast; diligence is anyone's most precious possession.
28 Sui sentieri della giustizia si trova la vita, la sua strada non va mai alla morte.	28 In the way of uprightness is life, the ways of the vengeful lead to death.
