Proverbi 11

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il Signore aborrisce la bilancia falsa, ma del peso esatto egli si compiace.	1 A false balance is abhorrent to Yahweh, a just weight is pleasing to him.
2 Dove c’è insolenza c’è anche disonore, ma la sapienza sta con gli umili.	2 Pride comes first; disgrace soon fol ows; with the humble is wisdom found.
3 L’integrità guida gli uomini retti, la malvagità è la rovina dei perfidi.	3 The honest have their own honesty for guidance, the treacherous are ruined by their own perfidy.
4 Non giova la ricchezza nel giorno della collera, ma la giustizia libera dalla morte.	4 In the day of retribution riches wil be useless, but uprightness delivers from death.
5 La giustizia dell’uomo onesto gli spiana la via, per la sua cattiveria cade il cattivo.	5 The uprightness of the good makes their way straight, the wicked fal by their own wickedness.
6 La giustizia salva gli onesti, nella cupidigia restano presi i perfidi.	6 Their uprightness sets the honest free, the treacherous are imprisoned by their own desires.
7 Con la morte del malvagio svanisce ogni sua speranza, l’attesa dei ricchi scompare.	7 The hope of the wicked perishes with death, hope placed in riches comes to nothing.
8 Il giusto è liberato dall’angoscia, al suo posto subentra il malvagio.	8 The upright escapes affliction, the wicked incurs it instead.
9 Con la sua bocca il bugiardo rovina l’amico, i giusti con la loro scienza si salvano.	9 Through his mouth the godless is the ruin of his neighbour, but by knowledge the upright aresafeguarded.
10 Della prosperità dei giusti la città si rallegra, per la rovina dei malvagi si fa festa.	10 When the upright prosper the city rejoices, when the wicked are ruined there is a shout of joy.
11 La benedizione degli uomini retti fa prosperare una città, le parole dei malvagi la distruggono.	11 A city is raised on the blessing of the honest, and demolished by the mouth of the wicked.
12 Disprezza il suo prossimo chi è privo di senno, ma l’uomo prudente tace.	12 Whoever looks down on a neighbour lacks good sense; the intelligent keeps a check on the tongue.
13 Chi va in giro sparlando svela il segreto, ma l’uomo fidato tiene nascosto ciò che sa.	13 A tittle-tattler lets secrets out, the trustworthy keeps things hidden.
14 Dove manca una guida il popolo va in rovina; la salvezza dipende dal numero dei consiglieri.	14 For want of leadership a people perishes, safety lies in many advisers.
15 Chi garantisce per un estraneo si troverà male, chi rifiuta garanzie vive tranquillo.	15 Whoever goes bail for a stranger does himself harm, but one who shuns going surety is safe.
16 La donna avvenente ottiene onore, gli uomini laboriosi ottengono ricchezze.	16 A gracious woman acquires honour, violent people acquire wealth.
17 Benefica se stesso chi è buono, il crudele invece tormenta la sua carne.	17 Faithful love brings its own reward, the inflexible injure their own selves.
18 L’empio realizza opere fallaci, per chi semina giustizia il salario è assicurato.	18 Disappointment crowns the labours of the wicked, whoever sows uprightness reaps a solid reward.
19 Chi pratica la giustizia si procura la vita, chi persegue il male va verso la morte.	19 Whoever establishes uprightness is on the way to life, whoever pursues evil, on the way to death.
20 Un cuore perverso il Signore lo detesta: egli si compiace di chi ha una condotta integra.	20 Tortuous hearts are abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him, those whose ways are blameless.
21 Certamente non resterà impunito il malvagio, ma la discendenza dei giusti sarà salva.	21 Be sure of it, the wicked wil not go unpunished, but the race of the upright wil come to no harm.
22 Un anello d’oro al naso di un maiale, tale è la donna bella ma senza cervello.	22 A golden ring in the snout of a pig is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.
23 La brama dei giusti è solo il bene, la speranza degli empi è la collera.	23 The hope of the upright is nothing but good, the expectation of the wicked is retribution.
24 C’è chi largheggia e la sua ricchezza aumenta, c’è chi risparmia oltre misura e finisce nella miseria.	24 One scatters money around, yet only adds to his wealth, another is excessively mean, but only growsthe poorer.
25 La persona benefica prospererà e chi disseta sarà dissetato.	25 The soul who blesses wil prosper, whoever satisfies others wil also be satisfied.
26 Chi accaparra il grano è maledetto dal popolo, la benedizione sta sul capo di chi lo vende.	26 The people's curse is on those who hoard the wheat, their blessing on the head of those who sel it.
27 Chi è sollecito del bene incontra favore e chi cerca il male, male gli accadrà.	27 Whoever strives for good obtains favour, whoever looks for evil wil get an evil return.
28 Chi confida nella propria ricchezza cadrà, i giusti invece rinverdiranno come foglie.	28 Whoever trusts in riches wil have a fal , the upright wil flourish like the leaves.
29 Chi crea disordine in casa erediterà vento e lo stolto sarà schiavo dell’uomo di senno.	29 Whoever misgoverns a house inherits the wind, and the fool becomes slave to the wise.
30 Il frutto del giusto è un albero di vita, il saggio conquista i cuori.	30 The fruit of the upright is a tree of life: the sage captivates souls.
31 Ecco, il giusto è ripagato sulla terra: tanto più l’empio e il peccatore.	31 If here on earth the upright gets due reward, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
