1 Questa è la discendenza di Esaù, cioè Edom.	1 These are the descendants of Esau (that is, Edom).
2 Esaù prese le sue mogli tra le figlie dei Cananei: Ada, figlia di Elon, l’Ittita; Oolibamà, figlia di Anà, figlio di Sibeon, l’Urrita;	2 Esau took his wives from among the Canaanite women: Adah, daughter of Elon the Hittite; Oholibamah, granddaughter through Anah of Zibeon the Hivite;
3 Basmat, figlia di Ismaele, sorella di Nebaiòt.	3 and Basemath, daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
4 Ada partorì a Esaù Elifaz, Basmat partorì Reuèl,	4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau; Basemath bore Reuel;

7 Infatti i loro possedimenti erano troppo grandi perché essi potessero abitare insieme, e il territorio dove soggiornavano come forestieri non bastava a sostenerli a causa del loro bestiame.	7 Their possessions had become too great for them to dwell together, and the land in which they were staying could not support them because of their livestock.
8 Così Esaù si stabilì sulle montagne di Seir. Esaù è Edom.	8 So Esau settled in the highlands of Seir. (Esau is Edom.)
9 Questa è la discendenza di Esaù, padre degli Edomiti, nelle montagne di Seir.	9 These are the descendants of Esau, ancestor of the Edomites, in the highlands of Seir.
