| 1 E ora così dice Jahve che ti ha creato, o Giacobbe, che ti ha plasmato, o Israele: «Non temere, perchè io ti ho riscattato, ti ho chiamato per nome: tu mi appartieni. | 1 And now, thus says Yahweh, he who created you, Jacob, who formed you, Israel: Do not be afraid, for Ihave redeemed you; I have cal ed you by your name, you are mine. |
| 2 Dovessi tu camminare sull'acqua, sarei con te, i fiumi non ti sommergerebbero: passassi in mezzo al fuoco, non ti scotteresti, la fiamma non ti brucerebbe; | 2 Should you pass through the waters, I shall be with you; or through rivers, they will not swal ow you up.Should you walk through fire, you wil not suffer, and the flame wil not burn you. |
| 3 poichè io sono Jahve tuo Dio, il Santo di Israele, il tuo salvatore. Io do l’Egitto come prezzo per il tuo riscatto, Chush e Seba al tuo posto. | 3 For I am Yahweh, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour. I have given Egypt for your ransom,Cush and Seba in exchange for you. |
| 4 Perchè tu sei prezioso ai miei occhi, perchè sei pregiato e io ti ho amato, darò uomini in tua vece e nazioni in cambio della tua vita. | 4 Since I regard you as precious, since you are honoured and I love you, I therefore give people inexchange for you, and nations in return for your life. |
| 5 Non temere, perchè io sono con te; dall’oriente farò venire la tua stirpe, dall’occidente io ti radunerò. | 5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I shal bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from thewest. |
| 6 Dirò al nord: “ Dammelo ” e al mezzogiorno: “ Non impedirlo; fa’ venire i miei figli da lontano e le mie figlie dall’estremità della terra, | 6 To the north I shal say, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back!' Bring back my sonsfrom far away, and my daughters from the remotest part of the earth, |
| 7 quanti sono chiamati con il mio nome e che io per la mia gloria ho creato e plasmato ”. | 7 everyone who bears my name, whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, whom I havemade. |
| 8 Fa’ uscire un popolo cieco, che pure ha occhi, sordo, che pure ha orecchie. | 8 Bring forward the people that is blind, yet has eyes, that is deaf and yet has ears. |
| 9 Si radunino insieme tutti i popoli e si raccolgano le nazioni. Chi fra di loro può annunciare ciò e farci udire le cose passate? Presentino i loro testimoni a giustificazione, ascoltino e dicano la verità. | 9 Let al the nations assemble, let the peoples gather here! Which of them has proclaimed this andrevealed things to us in the past? Let them bring their witnesses to justify themselves, let others hear and say, 'Itis true.' |
| 10 Voi siete i miei testimoni — oracolo di Jahve — e mio servitore, che mi sono scelto, affinchè sappiate e crediate in me e comprendiate che sono io. Prima di me non fu fatto un dio nè dopo ce ne sarà qualcuno. | 10 You yourselves are my witnesses, declares Yahweh, and the servant whom I have chosen, so thatyou may know and believe me and understand that it is I. No god was formed before me, nor wil be after me. |
| 11 lo, io sono Jahve, fuori di me non esiste un salvatore. | 11 I, I am Yahweh, and there is no other Saviour but me. |
| 12 Io ho predetto e ho salvato, mi son fatto sentire; fra di voi non C’era un estraneo. Voi siete miei testimoni — oracolo di Jahve — e io sono Dio, | 12 I have revealed, have saved, and have proclaimed, not some foreigner among you. You are mywitnesses, declares Yahweh, I am God, |
| 13 sempre il medesimo dall’eternità. Nessuno può sottrarre nulla al mio potere; chi può cambiare quanto io faccio? ». | 13 yes, from eternity I am. No one can deliver from my hand; when I act, who can thwart me? |
| 14 Così dice Jahve vostro redentore, il Santo di Israele: «Per amore vostro ho inviato gente contro Babilonia; farò precipitare tutti i guerrieri, i Caldei nelle barche loro vanto. | 14 Thus says Yahweh, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake I have sent to Babylon, Ishall knock down al the prison bars, and the Chaldaeans' shouts of joy wil change to lamentations. |
| 15 Io sono Jahve, il vostro Santo, il creatore di Israele, il vostro re ». | 15 I am Yahweh, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your king. |
| 16 Così dice Jahve che preparò una strada sul mare e un sentiero sulle acque rapide | 16 Thus says Yahweh, who made a way through the sea, a path in the raging waters, |
| 17 e fece uscire carri e cavalli, esercito ed eroi insieme; costoro giacciono insieme, non risorgeranno, si spensero come uno stoppino, si estinsero. | 17 who led out chariot and horse together with an army of picked troops: they lay down never to riseagain, they were snuffed out, put out like a wick. |
| 18 Non ricordatevi delle cose passate, non preoccupatevi più delle cose antiche! | 18 No need to remember past events, no need to think about what was done before. |
| 19 Ecco, faccio una cosa nuova; essa già germoglia, non ve ne accorgete? Aprirò nel deserto una strada, immetterò fiumi nella steppa. | 19 Look, I am doing something new, now it emerges; can you not see it? Yes, I am making a road in thedesert and rivers in wastelands. |
| 20 Mi glorificheranno le bestie selvatiche, sciacalli e struzzi, perchè avrò dato acqua nel deserto, fiumi nella steppa, per dissetare il mio popolo, il mio eletto. | 20 The wild animals wil honour me, the jackals and the ostriches, for bestowing water in the desert andrivers on the wastelands for my people, my chosen one, to drink. |
| 21 Il popolo, che io mi sono formato, proclamerà la mia lode. | 21 The people I have shaped for myself wil broadcast my praises. |
| 22 E tu, Giacobbe, non mi hai invocato, anzi ti sei stancato di me, Israele. | 22 But, Jacob, you have not invoked me; no, Israel, you have grown weary of me. |
| 23 Non mi hai portato un agnello per l’olocausto, non mi hai onorato con i tuoi sacrifici; io non ti ho annoiato con richieste di offerte, non ti ho stancato esigendo incenso. | 23 You have not brought me lambs as your burnt offerings and have not honoured me with yoursacrifices. I have not subjected you to cereal offering, I have not wearied you by demanding incense. |
| 24 Non mi hai comprato con denaro la cannella, non mi hai saziato con il grasso dei tuoi sacrifici. Ma mi hai affaticato con i tuoi peccati, mi hai stancato con le tue iniquità. | 24 You have not bought expensive reed for me or sated me with the fat of your sacrifices. Instead byyour sins you have trected me like a slave, you have wearied me with your crimes, |
| 25 Io, io cancello i tuoi misfatti e non ricordo i tuoi peccati. | 25 I, I it is who blot out your acts of revolt for my own sake and shal not cal your sins to mind. |
| 26 Fammi ricordare, discutiamo insieme; parla per primo per giustificarti. | 26 Remind me, and we will judge this together; state your own case and justify yourself. |
| 27 Il tuo primo padre peccò, i tuoi intermediari mi furono infedeli. | 27 Your first ancestor sinned, your interpreters revolted against me. |
| 28 Perciò profanai i capi del mio santuario; per questo votai Giacobbe all’anatema, Israele agli obbrobri. | 28 That is why I deposed the chief men of my sanctuary, why I put Jacob under the curse of destructionand subjected Israel to insult. |
