Geremia 24

1 Il Signore mi diede una visione, e vidi due panieri pieni di fichi, posati davanti al tempio del Signore, dopo che Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia aveva deportato da Gerusalemme Geconia, figlio di Ioachim, re di Giuda, e i principi di Giuda e gli artigiani e i gioiellieri, e li aveva condotti a Babilonia.	1 The LORD showed me two baskets of figs placed before the temple of the LORD.--This was after Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had exiled from Jerusalem Jeconiah, son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, the artisans and the skilled workers, and brought them to Babylon.--
2 Un paniere conteneva ottimi fichi, come soglion essere i primaticci, l'altro paniere conteneva dei fichi pessimi, da non potersi mangiare, tanto erano andati a male.	2 One basket contained excellent figs, the early-ripening kind. But the other basket contained very bad figs, so bad they could not be eaten.
3 E il Signore mi disse: « Che vedi, Geremia? » Risposi: « Fichi: fichi buoni, molto buoni, e fichi cattivi, molto cattivi, tanto cattivi da non potersi mangiare ».	3 Then the LORD said to me: What do you see, Jeremiah? "Figs," I replied; "the good ones are very good, but the bad ones very bad, so bad they cannot be eaten."
4 E il Signore mi rivolse la parola, dicendo:	4 Thereupon this word of the LORD came to me:
5 « Queste cose dice il Signore, il Dio d'Israele: come questi fichi buoni, così riguarderò con favore gli esuli di Giuda, che io ho mandati da questo luogo nella terra dei Caldei, se volgerò placati ad essi i miei sguardi, e li ricondurrò in questa terra, e li edificherò, senza più distruggerli, li pianterò senza più sradicarli.	5 Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, even so will I regard with favor Judah's exiles whom I sent away from this place into the land of the Chaldeans.
6 E darò loro un cuore per conoscere me, e che io sono il Signore: essi saranno il mio popolo, ed io sarò il loro Dio, perchè ritorneranno a me con tutto il loro cuore.	6 I will look after them for their good, and bring them back to this land, to build them up, not to tear them down; to plant them, not to pluck them out.
7 E come i fichi pessimi, che non si possono mangiare da quanto son cattivi — cosi dice il Signore — così tratterò Sedecia, re di Giuda, i suoi principi e gli altri di Gerusalemme, quelli rimasti in questa città e quelli che abitano nella terra d'Egitto.	7 I will give them a heart with which to understand that I am the LORD. They shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart.
8 Li farò straziare e affliggere per tutti i regni della terra, obbrobrio, tavola, scherno, maledizione in tutti i luoghi in cui li avrò cacciati; ioe manderò contro di essi la spada, la fame e la peste, fino a che non siano sterminati dalla terra che io diedi ai loro padri ».	8 And like the figs that are bad, so bad they cannot be eaten--yes, thus says the LORD--even so will I treat Zedekiah, king of Judah, and his princes, the remnant of Jerusalem remaining in this land and those who have settled in the land of Egypt.
	9 I will make them an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, a reproach and a byword, a taunt and a curse, in all the places to which I will drive them.
	10 I will send upon them the sword, famine, and pestilence, until they have disappeared from the land which I gave them and their fathers.
