Isaia 41

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 - «Tacciano le isole per ascoltarmi! Si forniscano le genti di nuova forza, si avanzino e poi argomentino; presentiamoci insieme alla discussione!	1 Let the islands keep silence before me, and the nations take new strength: let them come near, and then speak, let us come near to judgment together.
2 Chi suscitò dall'Oriente il giusto, intimandogli di seguirlo? Darà in sua balìa le genti e gli assoggetterà i re; li farà tritare come polvere dalla sua spada; li farà sbalestrare, come paglia al vento, dalla sua balestra.	2 Who hath raised up the just one from the east, hath called him to follow him? he shall give the nations in his sight, and he shall rule over kings: he shall give them as the dust to his sword, as stubble driven by the wind, to his bow.
3 Li perseguiterà, passerà in pace, ricalcate orme sotto i suoi piedi non appariranno.	3 He shall pursue them, he shall pass in peace, no path shall appear after his feet.
4 Chi ha fatto e chi ha operato questo, chiamando le generazioni fin da principio? Io, il Signore, il primo e l'ultimo sono io.	4 Who hath wrought and done these things, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, I am the first and the last.
5 Le isole videro e tremarono, le estremità della terra sbigottirono, si accostarono e si avanzarono.	5 The islands saw it, and feared, the ends of the earth were astonished, they drew near, and came.
6 Ciascuno correrà a soccorrere il vicino, e al fratello suo dirà: - Fatti coraggio! -	6 Every one shall help his neighbour, and shall say to his brother: Be of good courage.
7 Il fabbro ferraio, tra i colpi di martello, incoraggiava quello che contemporaneamente lavorava all'incudine dicendo: - È buono per la saldatura! - E vi metteva chiodi di rinforzo affinchè non si movesse.	7 The coppersmith striking with the hammer encouraged him that forged at that time, saying: It is ready for soldering: and he strengthened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
8 Ma tu, o Israele, mio servo, o Giacobbe, tu che ho eletto, o stirpe di Abramo mio amico;	8 But thou Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend:
9 tu, che ho tratto dagli estremi confini della terra e dalle sue regioni lontane ho chiamato, a cui ho detto: - Mio servo sei tu, io ti ho eletto e non ti ho rigettato:	9 In whom I have taken thee from the ends of the earth, and from the remote parts thereof have called thee, and said to thee: Thou art my servant, I have chosen thee, and have not cast thee away.
10 non temere, perocchè io sono teco: non chinare lo sguardo, perchè io sono il tuo Dio, ti ho fortificato, ti ho aiutato, la destra del mio giusto ti ha porto sostegno. -	10 Fear not, for I am with thee: turn not aside, for I am thy God: I have strengthened thee, and have helped thee, and the right hand of my just one hath upheld thee.
11 Ecco che resteranno confusi e svergognati tutti quelli che combattono contro di te, saranno ridotti al niente e periranno quei che a te contradicono.	11 Behold all that fight against thee shall be confounded and ashamed, they shall be as nothing, and the men shall perish that strive against thee.
12 Cercherai di loro e non li troverai questi uomini ribelli a te; saranno annientati e ridotti al nulla gli uomini che fanno guerra contro di te.	12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find the men that resist thee: they shall be as nothing: and as a thing consumed the men that war against thee.
13 Perchè io sono il Signore Dio tuo, che ti prendo per mano e ti dico: - Non temere, io veglio al tuo aiuto. -	13 For I am the Lord thy God, who take thee by the hand, and say to thee: Fear not, I have helped thee.
14 Non temere, o vermicciolo di Giacobbe, o resti morenti d'Israele, io veglio al tuo aiuto, dice il Signore, e il tuo redentore è il Santo d'Israele.	14 Fear not, thou worm of Jacob, you that are dead of Israel: I have helped thee, saith the Lord: and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel.
15 Io ti ho posto come un traino nuovo da trebbiare, armato di uncini taglienti; trebbierai i monti e li sminuzzerai e i colli ridurrai in polvere.	15 I have made thee as a new thrashing wain, with teeth like a saw: thou shall thrash the mountains, and break them in pieces: and shalt make the hills as chaff.
16 Li ventilerai, e il vento se li porterà, e il turbine li disperderà: e tu esulterai nel Signore, ti rallegrerai nel Santo d'Israele.	16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, in the Holy One of Israel thou shalt be joyful.
17 I poveri e i mendichi cercano acqua e non ce n'è: la loro lingua è arsa dalla sete. Io, il Signore, li esaudirò; io, Dio d'Israele, non li abbandonerò.	17 The needy and the poor seek for waters, and there are none: their tongue hath been dry with thirst. I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18 Dai pendenti colli farò scaturire dei fiumi, e in mezzo alle campagne, delle sorgenti; e cangerò il deserto in stagni d'acque e la terra isterilita in rivi scorrenti.	18 I will open rivers in the high bills, and fountains in the midst of the plains: I will turn the desert into pools of waters, and the impassable land into streams of waters.
19 Darò alle solitudini cedri e acacie e mirti e piante di olivo, darò al deserto abeti e olmi insieme e bossi.	19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, and the thorn, and the myrtle, and the olive tree: I will set in the desert the fir tree, the elm, and the box tree together:
20 Affinchè tutti parimenti vedano, sappiano, riflettano e intendano che la mano del Signore ha fatto questo, e il Santo d'Israele l'ha creato.	20 That they may see and know, and consider, and understand together that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
21 Presentate la vostra difesa, dice il Signore; se avete qualche cosa che valga, producetelo, dice il Re di Giacobbe.	21 Bring your cause near, saith the Lord: bring hither, if you have any thing to allege, saith the King of Jacob.
22 Si avanzino, e annunzino a noi quello che deve accadere: indicateci le previsioni che furono fatte, e applicheremo la nostra attenzione per sapere se sono succedute, oppure annunziateci quelle che devono venire.	22 Let them come, and tell us all things that are to come: tell us the former things what they were: and we will set our heart upon them, and shall know the latter end of them, and tell us the things that are to come.
23 Annunziate le cose che verranno in futuro, e conosceremo che siete dii, fatelo o bene o male se potete, e discorriamo insieme e vediamo.	23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, and we shall know that ye are gods. Do ye also good or evil, if you can: and let us speak, and see together.
24 Ma voi siete un nulla, e l'opera vostra non vale niente: abominevole è colui che vi elegge.	24 Behold, you are of nothing, and your work of that which hath no being: he that hath chosen you is an abomination.
25 Io lo suscitai dal settentrione perchè venisse, dallo spuntar del sole perchè invocasse il mio nome; egli calpesterà i principi come fango, e come tratta un vasaio la creta che pesta.	25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come from the rising of the sun: he shall call upon my name, and he shall make princes to be as dirt, and as the potter treading clay.
26 Chi l'annunziò in principio che lo sappiamo? e fino ab antico che diciamo a costui: - Tu hai ragione? - No, non v'è chi annunzi, nè chi predica, non è nessuno che oda le vostre parole.	26 Who bath declared from the beginning, that we may know: and from time of old, that we may say: Thou art just. There is none that sheweth, nor that foretelleth, nor that heareth your words.
27 Sono io il primo che ho detto a Sion: - Eccoli, eccoli: il messaggero della buona novella a Gerusalemme io lo darò -».	27 The first shall say to Sion: Behold they are here, and to Jerusalem I will give an evangelist.
28 Guardai attorno, e non c'era nessuno, neppure di questi dèi che potesse dare un consiglio, e che interrogato, rispondesse una parola.	28 And I saw, and there was no one even among them to consult, or who, when I asked, could answer a word.
29 Ecco, sono tutti còlti in fallo, e vane sono le opere loro; vento e vanità i loro simulacri.	29 Behold they are all in the wrong, and their works are vain: their idols are wind and vanity.
