BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - All'uomo caparbio che ostinatamente disprezza chi lo corregge, sopravverrà improvvisa ruina e senza ulteriore rimedio.	1 Whoever is stiff-necked under reproof wil be suddenly and irremediably broken.
2 Al moltiplicarsi dei giusti la gente godràe quando gli empi saliranno al potere, il popolo gemerà.	2 When the upright are on the increase, the people rejoice; when the wicked are in power, the peoplegroan.
3 L'uomo che ama la sapienza rallegra suo padre, e chi mantiene le meretrici dissipa le sue sostanze.	3 The lover of Wisdom makes his father glad, but the patron of prostitutes fritters his wealth away.
4 Un re giusto consolida lo stato e un uomo avaro lo manda in rovina.	4 A king gives a country stability by justice, an extortioner brings it to ruin.
5 L'uomo che usa parole finte e adulatrici coll'amico, tende una rete ai suoi passi.	5 Whoever flatters his companion spreads a net for his feet.
6 L'uomo iniquo che pecca cadrà in un laccio, ma il giusto canterà e godrà.	6 In the sin of the wicked lies a snare, but the upright exults and rejoices.
7 Il giusto prende a cuore la causa dei poveri, l'empio non sa considerare.	7 The upright understands the cause of the weak, the wicked has not the wit to understand it.
8 Gli uomini beffardi mettono in subbuglio la cittàe i saggi ne calmano il furore.	8 Scoffers set a city in ferment, but the wise moderate anger.
9 L'uomo sapiente se viene a contesa con lo stolto, sia che s'adiri o che rida, non troverà quiete.	9 Let someone wise argue with a fool, anger and good humour alike wil be wasted.
10 Gli uomini sanguinari odiano il semplice, e i giusti cercano l'anima di lui.	10 The bloodthirsty hate the honest, but the upright seek them out.
11 Lo stolto esala tutta la sua animosità, il saggio differisce e si riserva per poi.	11 The fool blurts out every angry feeling, but the wise subdues and restrains them.
12 Un principe che ascolti volentieri le parole della menzogna, ha tutti i suoi ministri malvagi.	12 When a ruler listens to false reports, al his ministers wil be scoundrels.
13 Il povero ed il creditore si sono incontrati, chi somministra il lume ad ambedue è il Signore.	13 Poor and oppressor are found together, Yahweh gives light to the eyes of both.
14 Un re che giudica con verità i poveriavrà il suo trono stabile in eterno.	14 The king who judges the weak with equity sees his throne set firm for ever.
15 La verga e la correzione danno sapienza e un fanciullo abbandonato a se stesso, fa vergogna a sua madre.	15 The stick and the reprimand bestow wisdom, a young man left to himself brings shame on his mother.
16 Col moltiplicarsi degli empi moltiplicano i delitti, ma i giusti vedranno la loro caduta.	16 When the wicked are on the increase, sin multiplies, but the upright wil witness their downfal .
17 Educa il tuo figlio e ti darà conforto, e ti procaccerà delizie all'anima.	17 Correct your child, and he wil give you peace of mind; he will delight your soul.
18 Quando verrà meno la parola ispirata il popolo andrà in rovina, ma chi osserva le leggi, beato lui!	18 Where there is no vision the people get out of hand; happy are they who keep the law.
19 Il servo a sole parole non si correggeperchè intende quel che dici, ma di corrispondere non se ne cura.	19 Not by words is a slave corrected: even if he understands, he will take no notice.
20 Hai visto un uomo veloce a parlare? Stoltezza c'è più da aspettarsi da costui, che emendazione.	20 You see someone too ready of speech? There is more to be hoped for from a fool!
21 Chi alleva delicatamente il suo servo dalla fanciullezzalo proverà poi contumace.	21 If a slave is pampered from childhood, he wil prove ungrateful in the end.
22 L'uomo collerico attizza le contese e chi è facile al risentimento è più proclive al peccato.	22 The hot-head provokes disputes, someone in a rage commits al sorts of sins.
23 L'umiliazione tien dietro al superbo e la gloria andrà incontro all'umile.	23 Pride brings humiliation, whoever humbles himself will win honour.
24 Chi spartisce col ladro, odia l'anima sua, ode l'imprecazione e non denuncia [il ladro].	24 To hear the curse and disclose nothing is to share with the thief and to hate oneself.
25 Chi ha timore dell'uomo presto cadrà, e chi spera nel Signore sarà esaltato.	25 To be afraid of human beings is a snare, whoever trusts in Yahweh is secure.
26 Molti cercano il favore del principe, ma dal Signore esce il giudizio su ciascuno.	26 Many people seek a ruler's favour, but the rights of each come from Yahweh.
27 I giusti hanno in orrore l'uomo empio, e gli empi detestano quelli che sono sulla retta via. Il figlio che fa tesoro della parola, sarà incolume dalla perdizione.	27 Abhorrent to the upright is the sinful, abhorrent to the wicked is one whose way is straight.
