1 - All'uomo caparbio che ostinatamente disprezza chi lo corregge, sopravverrà improvvisa ruina e senza ulteriore rimedio.	1 The man who remains stiff-necked and hates rebuke will be crushed suddenly beyond cure.
2 Al moltiplicarsi dei giusti la gente godràe quando gli empi saliranno al potere, il popolo gemerà.	2 When the just prevail, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
3 L'uomo che ama la sapienza rallegra suo padre, e chi mantiene le meretrici dissipa le sue sostanze.	3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but he who consorts with harlots squanders his wealth.
4 Un re giusto consolida lo stato e un uomo avaro lo manda in rovina.	4 By justice a king gives stability to the land; but he who imposes heavy taxes ruins it.
5 L'uomo che usa parole finte e adulatrici coll'amico, tende una rete ai suoi passi.	5 The man who flatters his neighbor is spreading a net under his feet.
6 L'uomo iniquo che pecca cadrà in un laccio, ma il giusto canterà e godrà.	6 The wicked man steps into a snare, but the just man runs on joyfully.
7 Il giusto prende a cuore la causa dei poveri, l'empio non sa considerare.	7 The just man has a care for the rights of the poor; the wicked man has no such concern.
8 Gli uomini beffardi mettono in subbuglio la cittàe i saggi ne calmano il furore.	8 Arrogant men set the city ablaze, but wise men calm the fury.
9 L'uomo sapiente se viene a contesa con lo stolto, sia che s'adiri o che rida, non troverà quiete.	9 If a wise man disputes with a fool, he may rage or laugh but can have no peace.
10 Gli uomini sanguinari odiano il semplice, e i giusti cercano l'anima di lui.	10 Bloodthirsty men hate the honest man, but the upright show concern for his life.
11 Lo stolto esala tutta la sua animosità, il saggio differisce e si riserva per poi.	11 The fool gives vent to all his anger; but by biding his time, the wise man calms it.
12 Un principe che ascolti volentieri le parole della menzogna, ha tutti i suoi ministri malvagi.	12 If a ruler listens to lying words, his servants all become wicked.
13 Il povero ed il creditore si sono incontrati, chi somministra il lume ad ambedue è il Signore.	13 The poor and the oppressor have a common bond: the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.
14 Un re che giudica con verità i poveriavrà il suo trono stabile in eterno.	14 If a king is zealous for the rights of the poor, his throne stands firm forever.
15 La verga e la correzione danno sapienza e un fanciullo abbandonato a se stesso, fa vergogna a sua madre.	15 The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a boy left to his whims disgraces his mother.
16 Col moltiplicarsi degli empi moltiplicano i delitti, ma i giusti vedranno la loro caduta.	16 When the wicked prevail, crime increases; but their downfall the just will behold.
17 Educa il tuo figlio e ti darà conforto, e ti procaccerà delizie all'anima.	17 Correct your son, and he will bring you comfort, and give delight to your soul.
18 Quando verrà meno la parola ispirata il popolo andrà in rovina, ma chi osserva le leggi, beato lui!	18 Without prophecy the people become demoralized; but happy is he who keeps the law.
19 Il servo a sole parole non si correggeperchè intende quel che dici, ma di corrispondere non se ne cura.	19 By words no servant can be trained; for he understands what is said, but obeys not.
20 Hai visto un uomo veloce a parlare? Stoltezza c'è più da aspettarsi da costui, che emendazione.	20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? More can be hoped for from a fool!
21 Chi alleva delicatamente il suo servo dalla fanciullezzalo proverà poi contumace.	21 If a man pampers his servant from childhood, he will turn out to be stubborn.
22 L'uomo collerico attizza le contese e chi è facile al risentimento è più proclive al peccato.	22 An ill-tempered man stirs up disputes, and a hotheaded man is the cause of many sins.
23 L'umiliazione tien dietro al superbo e la gloria andrà incontro all'umile.	23 Man's pride causes his humiliation, but he who is humble of spirit obtains honor.
24 Chi spartisce col ladro, odia l'anima sua, ode l'imprecazione e non denuncia [il ladro].	24 The accomplice of a thief is his own enemy: he hears himself put under a curse, yet discloses nothing.
25 Chi ha timore dell'uomo presto cadrà, e chi spera nel Signore sarà esaltato.	25 The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.
26 Molti cercano il favore del principe, ma dal Signore esce il giudizio su ciascuno.	26 Many curry favor with the ruler, but the rights of each are from the LORD.
27 I giusti hanno in orrore l'uomo empio, e gli empi detestano quelli che sono sulla retta via. Il figlio che fa tesoro della parola, sarà incolume dalla perdizione.	27 The evildoer is an abomination to the just, and he who walks uprightly is an abomination to the wicked.
