Proverbi 5

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Figlio mio, fa’ attenzione alla mia sapienza e porgi l’orecchio alla mia intelligenza,	1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen careful y to what I know;
2 perché tu possa conservare le mie riflessioni e le tue labbra custodiscano la scienza.	2 so that you may preserve discretion and your lips may guard knowledge. Take no notice of a loose-living woman,
3 Veramente le labbra di una straniera stillano miele, e più viscida dell’olio è la sua bocca;	3 for the lips of the adulteress drip with honey, her palate is more unctuous than oil,
4 ma alla fine ella è amara come assenzio, pungente come spada a doppio taglio.	4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
5 I suoi piedi scendono verso la morte, i suoi passi conducono al regno dei morti,	5 Her feet go down to death, Sheol the goal of her steps;
6 perché ella non bada alla via della vita, i suoi sentieri si smarriscono e non se ne rende conto.	6 far from fol owing the path of life, her course is uncertain and she does not know it.
7 Ora, figli, ascoltatemi e non allontanatevi dalle parole della mia bocca.	7 And now, son, listen to me, never deviate from what I say:
8 Tieni lontano da lei il tuo cammino e non avvicinarti alla porta della sua casa,	8 set your course as far from her as possible, go nowhere near the door of her house,
9 per non mettere in balìa di altri il tuo onore e i tuoi anni alla mercé di un uomo crudele,	9 or she wil hand over your honour to others, the years of your life to a man without pity,
10 perché non si sazino dei tuoi beni gli estranei, e le tue fatiche non finiscano in casa di uno sconosciuto	10 and strangers wil batten on your property, and your produce go to the house of a stranger,
11 e tu non debba gemere alla fine, quando deperiranno il tuo corpo e la tua carne,	11 and, at your ending, your body and flesh having been consumed, you wil groan
12 e tu debba dire: «Perché mai ho odiato l’istruzione e il mio cuore ha disprezzato la correzione?	12 and exclaim, 'Alas, I hated discipline, my heart spurned al correction;
13 Non ho ascoltato la voce dei miei maestri, non ho prestato orecchio a chi m’istruiva.	13 I would not attend to the voice of my masters, I would not listen to those who tried to teach me.
14 Per poco non mi sono trovato nel colmo dei mali in mezzo alla folla e all’assemblea».	14 Now I have come to nearly every kind of misery, in the assembly and in the community.'
15 Bevi l’acqua della tua cisterna e quella che zampilla dal tuo pozzo,	15 Drink the water from your own storage-well, fresh water from your own spring.
16 perché non si effondano al di fuori le tue sorgenti e nelle piazze i tuoi ruscelli,	16 Even if your fountains overflow outside, your streams of water in the public squares:
17 ed essi siano per te solo e non per degli estranei che sono con te.	17 let them be for you alone, and not for strangers with you.
18 Sia benedetta la tua sorgente, e tu trova gioia nella donna della tua giovinezza:	18 May your fountain-head be blessed! Find joy with the wife you married in your youth,
19 cerva amabile, gazzella graziosa, i suoi seni ti inebrino sempre, sii sempre invaghito del suo amore!	19 fair as a hind, graceful as a fawn: hers the breasts that ever fill you with delight, hers the love that everholds you captive.
20 Perché, figlio mio, perderti per la straniera e stringerti al petto di una sconosciuta?	20 Why be seduced, my son, by someone else's wife, and fondle the breast of a woman who belongs toanother?
21 Poiché sono davanti agli occhi del Signore le vie dell’uomo, egli bada a tutti i suoi sentieri.	21 For the eyes of Yahweh observe human ways, and survey al human paths.
22 L’empio è preda delle sue iniquità, è tenuto stretto dalle funi del suo peccato.	22 The wicked is snared in his own misdeeds, is caught in the meshes of his own sin.
23 Egli morirà per mancanza d’istruzione, si perderà per la sua grande stoltezza.	23 For want of discipline, he dies, led astray by his own excessive folly.
