BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Meglio un povero dalla condotta integra di uno dalle labbra perverse e che è stolto.	1 Better the poor living an honest life than the adept at double-talk who is a fool.
2 Il desiderio ansioso senza riflessione non è cosa buona, e chi va a passi frettolosi sbaglia strada.	2 Where knowledge is wanting, zeal is not good; whoever goes too quickly stumbles.
3 La stoltezza dell’uomo rovina la sua via, ma poi egli si adira contro il Signore.	3 Folly leads conduct astray, yet it is against Yahweh that the heart rages.
4 Le ricchezze moltiplicano gli amici, ma il povero è abbandonato dall’amico che ha.	4 Wealth multiplies friends, but the one friend the poor has is taken away.
5 Il falso testimone non resterà impunito, chi diffonde menzogne non avrà scampo.	5 The false witness wil not go unpunished, no one who utters lies wil go free.
6 Molti sono gli adulatori dell’uomo generoso, e tutti sono amici di chi fa doni.	6 The nobleman has many to court his favour, to a giver of gifts, everyone is friend.
7 Il povero è disprezzato dai suoi stessi fratelli, tanto più si allontanano da lui i suoi amici. Egli va in cerca di parole, ma non ci sono.	7 The poor man's brothers hate him, every one; his friends -- how much the more do these desert him!He goes in search of words, but there are none to be had.
8 Chi acquista senno ama se stesso e chi conserva la prudenza trova fortuna.	8 Whoever acquires sense wins profit from it, whoever treasures understanding finds happiness.
9 Il falso testimone non resterà impunito, chi diffonde menzogne perirà.	9 The false witness wil not go unpunished, whoever utters lies wil be destroyed.
10 Allo stolto non conviene una vita agiata, ancor meno a un servo comandare ai prìncipi.	10 It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, stil less for a slave to govern princes.
11 È segno d’intelligenza per l’uomo trattenere la collera, ed è sua gloria passare sopra alle offese.	11 Good sense makes for self-control, and for pride in overlooking an offence.
12 L’ira del re è come ruggito di leone, come rugiada sull’erba è la sua benevolenza.	12 Like the roaring of a lion, the anger of a king, but like dew on the grass his favour.
13 Un figlio stolto è una disgrazia per il padre e i litigi della moglie sono come stillicidio incessante.	13 A foolish child is a disaster for the father, the bickerings of a wife are like an ever-dripping gutter.
14 La casa e il patrimonio si ereditano dal padre, ma una moglie assennata è dono del Signore.	14 From fathers comes inheritance of house and wealth, from Yahweh a wife who is discreet.
15 La pigrizia fa cadere in torpore, e chi è indolente patirà la fame.	15 Idleness lul s to sleep, the feckless soul wil go hungry.
16 Chi custodisce il precetto custodisce se stesso, chi trascura la propria condotta morirà.	16 Keeping the commandment is self-preservation, but whoever despises these ways wil die.
17 Chi ha pietà del povero fa un prestito al Signore, che gli darà la sua ricompensa.	17 Whoever is kind to the poor is lending to Yahweh who wil repay him the kindness done.
18 Correggi tuo figlio, perché c’è speranza, ma non lasciarti andare fino a farlo morire.	18 While there is hope for him, chastise your child, but do not get so angry as to kill him.
19 L’iracondo deve essere punito; se lo risparmi, lo diventerà ancora di più.	19 The violent lays himself open to a penalty; spare him, and you aggravate his crime.
20 Ascolta il consiglio e accetta la correzione, per essere saggio fino al termine della tua vita.	20 Listen to advice, accept correction, to be the wiser in the time to come.
21 Molti sono i progetti nel cuore dell’uomo, ma solo i disegni del Signore si compiono.	21 Many are the plans in the human heart, but the purpose of Yahweh -- that stands firm.
22 Il pregio dell’uomo è la sua bontà; meglio un povero che un bugiardo.	22 Faithful love is what people look for in a person; they prefer the poor to a liar.
23 Il timore di Dio conduce alla vita e chi ne è pieno dorme tranquillo senza essere raggiunto dalla sventura.	23 The fear of Yahweh leads to life, it brings food and shelter, without fear of evil.
24 Il pigro immerge la mano nel piatto, ma non è capace di riportarla alla bocca.	24 Into the dish the idler dips his hand, but bring it back to his mouth he cannot.
25 Percuoti lo spavaldo e l’inesperto diventerà accorto, rimprovera il prudente e imparerà la lezione.	25 Strike a cynic, and simpletons wil be more wary; reprove the intel igent and he wil understand yourmeaning.
26 Rovina il padre e fa fuggire la madre un figlio disonorato e infame.	26 He who il -treats his father and drives out his mother is a child both worthless and depraved.
27 Figlio mio, cessa di accogliere l’istruzione se vuoi allontanarti dalle parole della sapienza.	27 Give up listening to instruction, my child, if you mean to stray from words of knowledge.
28 Il testimone iniquo si beffa della giustizia e la bocca dei malvagi ingoia l’iniquità.	28 A perjured witness holds the law in scorn; the mouth of the wicked feasts on evil-doing.
29 Per gli spavaldi sono pronte le punizioni e le percosse per la schiena degli stolti.	29 Punishments were made for mockers, and beating for the backs of fools.
