BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Zofar il Naamatita prese a dire:	1 Zophar of Naamath spoke next. He said:
2 Per questo i miei pensieri mi spingono a rispondere e perciò v'è questa fretta dentro di me.	2 My thoughts urge me to reply to this, and hence the impatience that grips me.
3 Ho ascoltato un rimprovero per me offensivo, ma uno spirito, dal mio interno, mi spinge a replicare.	3 I have put up with prating that outrages me and now my mind inspires me with an answer.
4 Non sai tu che da sempre, da quando l'uomo fu posto sulla terra,	4 Do you not know, that since time began and human beings were set on the earth,
5 il trionfo degli empi è breve e la gioia del perverso è d'un istante?	5 the triumph of the wicked has always been brief, and the sinner's gladness has never lasted long?
6 Anche se innalzasse fino al cielo la sua statura e il suo capo toccasse le nubi,	6 Towering to the sky he may have been, his head touching the clouds;
7 come lo sterco sarebbe spazzato per sempre e chi lo aveva visto direbbe: "Dov'è?".	7 but he vanishes, like a phantom, once for al , while those who used to see him, ask, 'Where is he?'
8 Svanirà come un sogno, e non si troverà più, si dileguerà come visione notturna.	8 Like a dream that leaves no trace he takes his flight, like a vision in the night he flies away.
9 L'occhio avvezzo a vederlo più non lo vedrà, né più lo scorgerà la sua dimora.	9 The eye accustomed to see him sees him no more, his home wil never set eyes on him again.
10 I suoi figli dovranno risarcire i poveri, le loro mani restituiranno le sue ricchezze.	10 His sons will have to reimburse the poor and his children pay back his riches.
11 Le sue ossa erano ancora piene di giovinezza, ma con lui giacciono nella polvere.	11 His bones used to be ful of youthful vigour: and there it lies, in the dust with him, now!
12 Se alla sua bocca fu dolce il male, se lo teneva nascosto sotto la sua lingua,	12 Evil was sweet to his mouth, he would shelter it under his tongue;
13 assaporandolo senza inghiottirlo, se lo tratteneva in mezzo al suo palato:	13 cultivating it careful y, he would let it linger on his palate.
14 il suo cibo gli si guasterà nelle viscere, veleno d'aspidi gli sarà nell'intestino.	14 Such food goes bad in his bel y, working inside him like the poison of a viper.
15 I beni divorati ora rivomita, Dio glieli caccia fuori dal ventre.	15 Now he has to vomit up the wealth that he has swal owed, God makes him disgorge it.
16 Veleno d'aspide ha succhiato, una lingua di vipera lo uccide.	16 He used to suck vipers' venom, and the tongue of the adder kills him.
17 Non vedrà più ruscelli d'olio, fiumi di miele e fior di latte;	17 No more will he know the streams of oil or the torrents of honey and cream.
18 renderà i sudati acquisti senza assaggiarli, come non godrà del frutto del suo commercio,	18 When he gives back his winnings, his cheerfulness wil fade, and the satisfied air he had whenbusiness was thriving.
19 perché ha oppresso e abbandonato i miseri, ha rubato case invece di costruirle;	19 Since he once destroyed the huts of the poor, plundering houses instead of building them up,
20 perché non ha saputo essere pago dei suoi beni, con i suoi tesori non si salverà.	20 since his avarice could never be satisfied, now al his hoarding will not save him;
21 Nulla è sfuggito alla sua voracità, per questo non durerà il suo benessere.	21 since nothing could escape his greed, his prosperity wil not last.
22 Nel colmo della sua abbondanza si troverà in miseria; ogni sorta di sciagura piomberà su di lui.	22 When he has everything he needs, want wil seize him, and misery wil light on him with all its force.
23 Quando starà per riempire il suo ventre, Dio scaglierà su di lui la fiamma del suo sdegno, e gli farà piovere addosso brace.	23 On him God looses al his burning wrath, hurling against his flesh a hail of arrows.
24 Se sfuggirà l'arma di ferro, lo trafiggerà l'arco di bronzo:	24 If he escapes the weapons of iron, the bow of bronze wil transfix him.
25 gli uscirà il dardo dalla schiena, una spada lucente dal fegato. Lo assaliranno i terrori;	25 Out of his back sticks an arrow, from his gal a shining point. The terrors advance on him,
26 tutte le tenebre gli sono riservate. Lo divorerà un fuoco non acceso da un uomo, esso consumerà quanto è rimasto nella sua tenda.	26 all the hidden darknesses are waiting to carry him off. A fire unlit by human hand devours him, andconsumes what is left in his tent.
27 Riveleranno i cieli la sua iniquità e la terra si alzerà contro di lui.	27 The heavens lay bare his iniquity, and the earth rises up against him.
28 Un'alluvione travolgerà la sua casa, scorrerà nel giorno dell'ira.	28 The income of his house pours away, like the torrents, on the day of retribution.
29 Questa è la sorte che Dio riserva all'uomo perverso, la parte a lui decretata da Dio.	29 Such is the fate God reserves for the wicked, the inheritance he assigns to the accursed!
