Geremia 22

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Queste cose dice il Signore: « Discendi alla casa del Re di Giuda e là pronunzia queste parole	1 Yahweh said this, 'Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and there say this word,
2 e di': — Ascolta la parola del Signore, o re di Giuda, che siedi sul trono di David, tu, i tuoi servi e il tuo popolo che entrate per queste porte.	2 "Listen to the word of Yahweh, king of Judah now occupying the throne of David, you, your officials andyour people who go through these gates.
3 Ecco quanto dice il Signore: — Rendete secondo il diritto la giustizia, e liberate l'oppresso dalla prepotenza, dalla mano del calunniatore, lo straniero, l'orfano, la vedova, non lo contristate, non lo opprimete iniquamente, non versate in questo luogo il sangue innocente.	3 Yahweh says this: Act uprightly and justly; rescue from the hands of the oppressor anyone who hasbeen wronged, do not exploit or il -treat the stranger, the orphan, the widow; shed no innocent blood in thisplace.
4 Se con ogni cura farete secondo queste parole, i re della stirpe di David, che siedono sul trono di lui, entreranno per le porte di questa casa sopra cocchi e cavalli, essi, i loro servi e il loro popolo,	4 For if you are scrupulous in obeying this command, then kings occupying the throne of David willcontinue to make their entry through the gates of this palace riding in chariots or on horseback, they, theirofficials and their people.
5 se poi non ascolterete queste parole, per me stesso lo giuro dice il Signore — questa casa sarà ridotta a un deserto.	5 But if you do not listen to these words, then I swear by myself, Yahweh declares, this palace shalbecome a ruin!
6 Ecco infatti quanto dice il Signore intorno alla casa del re di Giuda: — Tu sei per me un Galaad, la cima del Libano, (giuro che) ti renderò un deserto di città inabitabili.	6 "Yes, this is what Yahweh says about the palace of the king of Judah: You are like Gilead to me, like apeak of Lebanon. Al the same, I wil reduce you to a desert, to uninhabited towns.
7 E consacrerò contro di te l'uccisore e le sue armi, e taglieranno i tuoi più bei cedri e li getteranno nel fuoco.	7 I dedicate men to destroy you, each man with his weapons; they will cut down your finest cedars andthrow them on the fire.
8 E molte nazioni passeranno per questa città, e si diranno a vicenda: — Come mai il Signore ha trattato così questa gran città? —	8 "And when many nations pass this city, they wil say to one another: Why has Yahweh treated thisgreat city like this?
9 E risponderanno: Perchè abbandonarono l'alleanza del Signore loro Dio, e andarono ad adorare gli dèi stranieri e a servirli ».	9 And the answer wil be: Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God to worship othergods and serve them." '
10 Non piangete colui che è morto, non fate il lamento su lui, ma piangete quello che parte, perchè non tornerà più, non vedrà più la terra ove è nato.	10 Do not weep for the man who is dead, do not raise the dirge for him. Weep rather for the one who hasgone away, since he wil never come back, never see his native land again.
11 Infatti così parla il Signore riguardo a Sellum, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, che è succeduto a Giosia suo padre, e che è partito da questo luogo: — Egli non vi ritornerà più;	11 For this is what Yahweh has said about Shallum son of Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded Josiahhis father and was forced to leave this place, 'He wil never come back to it
12 morrà nel luogo ove l'ho fatto portare, e non vedrà mai più questa terra ».	12 but wil die in the place to which he has been taken captive; and he wil never see this country again.
13 Guai a colui che edifica la sua casa sull'ingiustizia e i suoi appartamenti nell'iniquità: senza ragione angaria il suo prossimo, e non gli dà il suo salario.	13 'Disaster for the man who builds his house without uprightness, his upstairs rooms without fairjudgement, who makes his fel ow-man work for nothing, without paying him his wages,
14 E va dicendo: « Io mi farò una casa vasta, con appartamenti grandiosi », si apre delle finestre, e fa di cedro i soffitti, che fa dipingere col minio.	14 who says, "I shal build myself a spacious palace with airy upstairs rooms," who makes windows in it,panels it with cedar, and paints it vermilion.
15 Forse regnerai perchè ti paragoni al cedro? tuo padre non mangiò e bevve e rese secondo il diritto giustizia allora quando andava bene per lui?	15 Are you more of a king because of your passion for cedar? Did your father go hungry or thirsty? Buthe did what is just and upright, so al went wel for him.
16 Giudicò la causa del povero e del mendico per il suo bene. E ciò non fu perchè mi conobbe — dice il Signore?	16 He used to examine the cases of poor and needy, then al went wel . Is not that what it means to knowme? Yahweh demands.
17 Ma i tuoi occhi e il tuo cuore son volti all'avarizia, a spargere il sangue innocente, alla calunnia, a travolgere nel mal fare.	17 You on the other hand have eyes and heart for nothing but your own interests, for shedding innocentblood and perpetrating violence and oppression.'
18 Per questo, ecco quanto dice il Signore riguardo a loachim figlio di Giosia re di Giuda: — Non faranno su lui i lamenti: « Infelice fratello, sorella infelice! » Non grideranno per lui: « Ah, Signore! Ah, inclito! »	18 That is why Yahweh says this about Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: 'No lamenting for him,"My poor brother! My poor sister!" No lamenting for him, "His poor lordship! His poor majesty!"
19 Sarà sepolto come un asino, sarà gettato a marcire fuori delle porte di Gerusalemme.	19 He wil have a donkey's funeral -- dragged away and thrown out of the gates of Jerusalem.'
20 Monta sul Libano e grida, in Basan alza la tua voce e grida a chi passa che sono ridotti al niente tutti i tuoi amanti.	20 'Climb the Lebanon range and shriek, raise your voice in Bashan, shriek from the Abarim, for al yourlovers have been ruined!
21 Ti parlai nella tua prosperità e tu dicesti: « Non starò a sentire ». Questo è il tuo modo di fare fin dalla adolescenza, di non stare a sentire la mia voce.	21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, "I wil not listen!" From your youth this has been howyou behaved, refusing to listen to my voice.
22 Il vento pascerà tutti i tuoi pastori, e i tuoi amanti andranno in schiavitù; allora tu sarai coperta di confusione e di rossore per tutta la tua malizia.	22 The wind will shepherd al your shepherds away and your lovers wil go into captivity. Then you wilblush deep with shame at the thought of al your wickedness.
23 Tu che abiti nel Libano e fai il tuo nido sui cedri, come gemerai quando ti verranno dei dolori come i dolori d'una partoriente.	23 You who have made the Lebanon your home and made your nest among the cedars, how you wilgroan when anguish overtakes you, pangs like those of a woman in labour!
24 Io vivo! — dice il Signore: — Anche se Geconia, figlio di Ioachim, re di Giuda, fosse un anello nella mia mano destra, lo toglierò di lì con violenza.	24 'As I live, Yahweh declares, even if Coniah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were the signet ring onmy right hand, I would stil wrench you off!
25 Io ti abbandonerò in potere di chi ti vuol morto, in potere di coloro davanti ai quali tu tremi, in potere di Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia, in potere dei Caldei.	25 I shal hand you over to those determined to kill you, to those you dread, to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, to the Chaldaeans.
26 E ti manderò, colla tua madre che ti ha generato, in paese straniero, dove voi non siete nati, e dove morrete.	26 I shal hurl you and the mother who bore you into another country; you were not born there but youwil both die there.
27 E a quella terra a cui la loro anima sospira non torneranno mai.	27 They wil not return to the country to which they desperately long to return.'
28 E' forse un vaso di terra cotta, e rotto quest'uomo, Geconia? è forse un vaso di rifiuto? perchè sono stati ripudiati, lui e la sua stirpe, e gettati in una terra da loro non conosciuta?	28 Is he a shoddy broken pot, this man Coniah, a crock that no one wants? Why are he and his offspringejected, hurled into a country they know nothing of?
29 Terra, terra, terra, ascolta la parola del Signore.	29 O land, land, land, listen to the word of Yahweh!
30 Ecco quanto dice il Signore: « Scrivi quest'uomo come sterile, come uomo non riuscito nei suoi giorni: e nessuno della sua stirpe riuscirà a sedere sul trono di David, a regnare ancora in Giuda ».	30 Yahweh says this, 'List this man as: Childless; a man who made a failure of his life, since none of hisoffspring wil succeed in occupying the throne of David, or ruling in Judah again.'
