Proverbi 3

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Figlio mio, non ti dimenticare della mia legge e custodisci nel tuo cuore i miei insegnamenti,	1 My child, do not forget my teaching, let your heart keep my principles,
2 perchè essi ti frutteranno lunghi giorni, anni di vita e di pace.	2 since they will increase your length of days, your years of life and your wel -being.
3 Bontà e fedeltà non t'abbandonino mai: legatelo al collo, scrivetele sulla tavola del cuore,	3 Let faithful love and constancy never leave you: tie them round your neck, write them on the tablet ofyour heart.
4 e troverai grazia e avrai ottimi costumi davanti a Dio e davanti agli uomini.	4 Thus you will find favour and success in the sight of God and of people.
5 Con tutto il tuo cuore abbi fiducia nel Signore e non t'appoggiare alla tua prudenza.	5 Trust wholeheartedly in Yahweh, put no faith in your own perception;
6 In tutte le tue vie pensa a lui, ed Egli guiderà i tuoi passi.	6 acknowledge him in every course you take, and he wil see that your paths are smooth.
7 Non ti stimare saggio da te stesso: temi Dio o fuggi il male;	7 Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom, fear Yahweh and turn your back on evil:
8 o sarà di salute al tuo corpo e di refrigerio alle tue ossa.	8 health-giving, this, to your body, relief to your bones.
9 Onora Dio coi tuoi beni e colle primizie d'ogni tua rendita;	9 Honour Yahweh with what goods you have and with the first-fruits of al your produce;
10 e i tuoi granai saranno pieni zeppi, e i tuoi tini rigurgiteranno di vino.	10 then your barns will be fil ed with corn, your vats overflowing with new wine.
11 Non disdegnare, figlio mio, la disciplina del Signore, e non ti sgomentare quando Egli ti castiga;	11 My child, do not scorn correction from Yahweh, do not resent his reproof;
12 perchè il Signore corregge quello che egli ama, come un padre fa al figlio suo diletto.	12 for Yahweh reproves those he loves, as a father the child whom he loves.
13 Beato l'uomo che ha acquistato la sapienza ed è ricco di prudenza.	13 Blessed are those who have discovered wisdom, those who have acquired understanding!
14 L'acquisto di lei vai più di quello dell'argento e il suo frutto vai più dell'oro preziosissimo.	14 Gaining her is more rewarding than silver, her yield is more valuable than gold.
15 Essa vai più di tutte le ricchezze, e le cose più stimate non possono essere paragonate a lei.	15 She is beyond the price of pearls, nothing you could covet is her equal.
16 Ha nella destra lunga vita, nella sinistra ricchezze e gloria.	16 In her right hand is length of days; in her left hand, riches and honour.
17 Le sue vie son vie belle e tutti di pace i suoi sentieri.	17 Her ways are filled with delight, her paths al lead to contentment.
18 Essa è l'albero della vita per chi l'abbraccia, ed è felice chi la tiene stretta,	18 She is a tree of life for those who hold her fast, those who cling to her live happy lives.
19 il Signore colla sapienza fondò la terra e colla prudenza rese stabili i cieli.	19 In wisdom, Yahweh laid the earth's foundations, in understanding he spread out the heavens.
20 Per la sapienza di lui scaturiron le sorgenti e le nubi si caricaron di rugiada.	20 Through his knowledge the depths were cleft open, and the clouds distil the dew.
21 Figlio mio, non perder mai di vista queste cose; abbi sempre regola e riflessione;	21 My child, hold to sound advice and prudence, never let them out of sight;
22 e ciò sarà vita per l'anima tua e ornamento pel tuo collo.	22 they wil give life to your soul and beauty to your neck.
23 Allora tu camminerai con sicurezza per la tua strada e il tuo piede non avrà inciampi.	23 You wil go on your way in safety, your feet wil not stumble.
24 Se dormirai non avrai spaventi, e, coricandoti, sarà dolce il tuo sonno.	24 When you go to bed, you wil not be afraid; once in bed, your sleep will be sweet.
25 Non avrai da temere per subitaneo terrore, nè per gli attacchi violenti degli empi.	25 Have no fear either of sudden terror or of attack mounted by wicked men,
26 perchè il Signore sarà al tuo fianco, preserverà il tuo piede, in modo che tu non sia preso.	26 since Yahweh will be your guarantor, he wil keep your steps from the snare.
27 Non impedire a chi può di far del bene, e, se puoi, fallo anche tu.	27 Refuse no kindness to those who have a right to it, if it is in your power to perform it.
28 Non dire al tuo amico: «V a e ritorna; domani ti darò » quando tu puoi dar subito.	28 Do not say to your neighbour, 'Go away! Come another time! I will give it you tomorrow,' if you can do itnow.
29 Non tramar alcun male contro il tuo amico, mentre egli si fida di te.	29 Do not plot harm against your neighbour who is living unsuspecting beside you.
30 Senza ragione non litigare con nessuno, quand'egli non t'ha fatto alcun male.	30 Do not pick a groundless quarrel with anyone who has done you no harm.
31 Non ti fare emulo l'uomo ingiusto. Non imitare la sua condotta.	31 Do not envy the man of violence, never model your conduct on his;
32 Perchè il Signore ha in abbominio gli schernitori, e conversa amichevolmente con i semplici.	32 for the wilful wrong-doer is abhorrent to Yahweh, who confides only in the honest.
33 La povertà (vien mandata) dal Signore nella casa dell'empio, ma lo abitazioni dei giusti saran benedette.	33 Yahweh's curse lies on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the upright.
34 Egli schernirà gli schernitori e darà la grazia ai mansueti.	34 He mocks those who mock, but accords his favour to the humble.
35 I saggi possederanno la gloria, e l'esaltamento degli insensati finirà nell'ignominia.	35 Glory is the portion of the wise, all that fools inherit is contempt.
