| 1 - Così dice il Signore: «Conservate l'onestà e praticate la giustizia; perchè prossima è la mia salute a venire e la mia giustizia a manifestarsi. | 1 Thus says the LORD: "Keep justice, and do righteousness, for soon my salvation will come, and my deliverance be revealed. |
| 2 Beato l'uomo che farà così e il figlio dell'uomo che si appiglierà a questo, stando attento ad osservare il sabato senza profanarlo, guardandosi dal commettere come che sia del male colle sue mani!». | 2 Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the sabbath, not profaning it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil." |
| 3 E il figlio dello straniero che si unisce al Signore non dica: «Il Signore mi terrà separato dal popolo»; e l'eunuco non dica: «Ecco ch'io sono un legno secco!». | 3 Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the LORD say, "The LORD will surely separate me from his people"; and let not the eunuch say, "Behold, I am a dry tree." |
| 4 Perchè così dice il Signore agli eunuchi: «Coloro che osserveranno i miei sabati e abbracceranno le cose che io voglio e si manterranno fedeli al mio patto, | 4 For thus says the LORD: "To the eunuchs who keep my sabbaths, who choose the things that please me and hold fast my covenant, |
| 5 avranno da me nella mia casa e dentro le mie mura un luogo e un nome migliore che per figli e per figlie; un nome eterno darò loro, che non perirà. | 5 I will give in my house and within my walls a monument and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name which shall not be cut off. |
| 6 E i figli dello straniero che si uniranno al Signore per prestargli culto e per amare il suo nome e per essere suoi servi, chiunque si studierà di osservare il sabato senza profanarlo e manterrà il mio patto, | 6 "And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD, to minister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants, every one who keeps the sabbath, and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant-- |
| 7 questi condurrò al mio santo monte e li farò contenti nella mia casa di orazione: i loro olocausti e le loro vittime mi saranno graditi sopra il mio altare, perchè la mia casa sarà chiamata casa di orazione per tutti i popoli». | 7 these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples. |
| 8 Dice il Signore Dio che raccoglie i dispersi d'Israele: «Ancora gliene raccoglierò di quelli che si aggiungeranno a lui». | 8 Thus says the Lord GOD, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered." |
| 9 Fiere tutte della campagna, venite a divorare e voi anche fiere della foresta! | 9 All you beasts of the field, come to devour-- all you beasts in the forest. |
| 10 Le sue sentinelle sono tutte cieche, tutti che non sanno nulla, cani muti che non valgono a latrare, visionari, addormentati, amanti del sonno! | 10 His watchmen are blind, they are all without knowledge; they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; dreaming, lying down, loving to slumber. |
| 11 Cani impudentissimi che non conoscono sazietà; i pastori stessi non sanno comprendere, ciascuno piega per la propria via, ognuno al proprio interesse, dal primo fino all'ultimo. | 11 The dogs have a mighty appetite; they never have enough. The shepherds also have no understanding; they have all turned to their own way, each to his own gain, one and all. |
| 12 Venite, andiamo a prendere del vino e riempiamoci del liquore inebriante; e come oggi, così sarà anche domani e di meglio ancora! | 12 "Come," they say, "let us get wine, let us fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow will be like this day, great beyond measure." |
