1 - Vaticinio sul Deserto del mare. Come turbini che si scatenano dall'Austro egli viene dal deserto, da un'orrida terra.	1 Oracle on the wastelands by the sea: Like whirlwinds sweeping in waves through the Negeb, there comes from the desert, from the fearful land,
2 Una dura visione mi è stata annunziata: chi è perfido rompe la fede, chi è predone, devasta. Sali, o Elam, assedia, o Medo! Io voglio far cessare ogni suo gemito.	2 A cruel sight, revealed to me: the traitor betrays, the despoiler spoils. "Go up, Elam; besiege, O Media; I will put an end to all groaning!"
3 Per questo le mie viscere sono piene di dolore; mi hanno preso le doglie come le doglie d'una partoriente: sono rimasto costernato all'udire, conturbato nel vedere.	3 Therefore my loins are filled with anguish, pangs have seized me like those of a woman in labor; I am too bewildered to hear, too dismayed to look.
4 Il mio cuore è smarrito, mi si ottenebra la mente di raccapriccio; la deliziosa Babilonia mi presenta uno spettacolo orrendo.	4 My mind reels, shuddering assails me; My yearning for twilight has turned into dread.
5 «Prepara la mensa, poni la sentinella a guardia di quei che mangiano e bevono: sorgete, principi, imbracciate lo scudo!».	5 They set the table, spread out the rugs; they eat, they drink. Rise up, O princes, oil the shield!
6 Perchè il Signore mi ha detto così: «Va' e colloca una sentinella, e segnali tutto quello che vede».	6 For thus says my Lord to me: Go, station a watchman, let him tell what he sees.
7 E vide un carro a due cavalieri, e gente che cavalcava asini, e gente sul dorso dei cammelli: e con lo sguardo fisso, stette a lungo a contemplare attentamente.	7 If he sees a chariot, a pair of horses, Someone riding an ass, someone riding a camel, Then let him pay heed, very close heed.
8 E gridò con un ruggito: «Io sono sulla vedetta del Signore, ferma sempre di giorno; e sopra il mio posto di guardia io sono in piedi tutte le notti».	8 Then the watchman cried, "On the watchtower, O my Lord, I stand constantly by day; And I stay at my post through all the watches of the night.
9 Ed ecco che venne quell'uomo, che montava il carro tirato da due cavalli, e mi rispose dicendo: «È caduta, è caduta Babilonia e tutti i simulacri dei suoi idoli giacciono infranti al suolo!».	9 Here he comes now: a single chariot, a pair of horses; He calls out and says, 'Fallen, fallen is Babylon, And all the images of her gods are smashed to the ground.'"
10 O voi, che siete sotto il tribbio, figli della mia aia, quello che udii dal Signore degli eserciti, dal Dio d'Israele, vi ho annunziato!	10 O my people who have been threshed, beaten on my threshing floor! What I have heard from the LORD of hosts, The God of Israel, I have announced to you.
11 Vaticinio su Duma. Mi gridano da Seir: «Sentinella, quanto di notte, quanto di notte, o sentinella, ci rimane ancora?».	11 Oracle on Edom: They call to me from Seir, "Watchman, how much longer the night? Watchman, how much longer the night?"
12 La sentinella rispose: «È venuto il mattino e ancora la notte; se più cercate, cercate; tornate, venite».	12 The watchman replies, "Morning has come, and again night. If you will ask, ask; come back again."
13 Vaticinio sull'Arabia. Nel bosco a sera dormirete sulla strada di Dedanim.	13 Oracle on Arabia: In the thicket in the nomad country spend the night, O caravans of Dedanites.
14 O abitatori della terra australe, venite incontro all'assetato, recategli dell'acqua, venite incontro al fuggitivo con dei pani.	14 Meet the thirsty, bring them water; you who dwell in the land of Tema, greet the fugitives with bread.
15 Perchè sono fuggiti dinanzi alle spade che loro sovrasta, innanzi all'arco teso, innanzi all'incalzar della battaglia.	15 They flee from the sword, from the whetted sword; From the taut bow, from the fury of battle.
16 Perchè così dice a me il Signore: «Un anno ancora, come l'annata d'un mercenario, e poi la gloria di Cedar sarà del tutto svanita».	16 For thus says the Lord to me: In another year, like those of a hireling, all the glory of Kedar shall come to an end.
17 E il numero che resterà dei valorosi arcieri di Cedar andrà scomparendo, perchè il Signore, Dio d'Israele, ha parlato.	17 Few of Kedar's stalwart archers shall remain, for the LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken.
