BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il cuore del re è un corso d’acqua in mano al Signore: lo dirige dovunque egli vuole.	1 Like flowing water is a king's heart in Yahweh's hand; he directs it wherever he pleases.
2 Agli occhi dell’uomo ogni sua via sembra diritta, ma chi scruta i cuori è il Signore.	2 All actions are straight in the doer's own eyes, but it is Yahweh who weighs hearts.
3 Praticare la giustizia e l’equità per il Signore vale più di un sacrificio.	3 To do what is upright and just is more pleasing to Yahweh than sacrifice.
4 Occhi alteri e cuore superbo, lucerna dei malvagi è il peccato.	4 Haughty eye, proud heart, lamp of the wicked, nothing but sin.
5 I progetti di chi è diligente si risolvono in profitto, ma chi ha troppa fretta va verso l’indigenza.	5 The hardworking is thoughtful, and al is gain; too much haste, and all that comes of it is want.
6 Accumulare tesori a forza di menzogne è futilità effimera di chi cerca la morte.	6 To make a fortune with the help of a lying tongue: such is the idle fantasy of those who look for death.
7 La violenza dei malvagi li travolge, perché rifiutano di praticare la giustizia.	7 The violence of the wicked proves their ruin, for they refuse to do what is right.
8 La via di un uomo colpevole è tortuosa, ma l’innocente è retto nel suo agire.	8 The way of the felon is devious, the conduct of the innocent straight.
9 È meglio abitare su un angolo del tetto che avere casa in comune con una moglie litigiosa.	9 Better the corner of a roof to live on than a house shared with a quarrelsome woman.
10 L’anima del malvagio desidera fare il male, ai suoi occhi il prossimo non trova pietà.	10 The soul of the wicked is intent on evil, to such a person no neighbour can ever do right.
11 Quando lo spavaldo viene punito, l’inesperto diventa saggio; egli acquista scienza quando il saggio viene istruito.	11 When a cynic is punished, simpletons grow wiser, but someone of understanding acquires knowledgeby instruction.
12 Il giusto osserva la casa del malvagio e precipita i malvagi nella sventura.	12 The Upright One watches the house of the wicked; he hurls the wicked to destruction.
13 Chi chiude l’orecchio al grido del povero invocherà a sua volta e non otterrà risposta.	13 Whoever refuses to listen to the cry of the weak, wil in turn plead and not be heard.
14 Un dono fatto in segreto calma la collera, un regalo di nascosto placa il furore violento.	14 Anger is mol ified by a covert gift, raging fury by a present under cover of the cloak.
15 È una gioia per il giusto quando è fatta giustizia, mentre è un terrore per i malfattori.	15 Doing what is right fills the upright with joy, but evil-doers with terror.
16 L’uomo che si scosta dalla via della saggezza, riposerà nell’assemblea delle ombre dei morti.	16 Whoever strays far from the way of prudence wil rest in the assembly of shadows.
17 Diventerà indigente chi ama i piaceri, chi ama vino e profumi non si arricchirà.	17 Pleasure-lovers stay poor, no one wil grow rich who loves wine and good living.
18 Il malvagio serve da riscatto per il giusto e il perfido per gli uomini retti.	18 The wicked is a ransom for the upright; and the law-breaker for the honest.
19 Meglio abitare in un deserto che con una moglie litigiosa e irritabile.	19 Better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and irritable woman.
20 Tesori preziosi e profumi sono nella dimora del saggio, ma l’uomo stolto dilapida tutto.	20 The wise has valuables and oil at home, but a fool soon runs through both.
21 Chi ricerca la giustizia e l’amore troverà vita e gloria.	21 Whoever pursues uprightness and faithful love will find life, uprightness and honour.
22 Il saggio assale una città di guerrieri e abbatte la fortezza in cui essa confidava.	22 A sage can scale a garrisoned city and shatter the rampart on which it relied.
23 Chi custodisce la bocca e la lingua preserva se stesso dalle afflizioni.	23 Watch kept over mouth and tongue keeps the watcher safe from disaster.
24 Il superbo arrogante si chiama spavaldo, egli agisce nell’eccesso dell’insolenza.	24 Insolent, haughty -- the name is 'Cynic'; overweening pride marks such behaviour.
25 Il desiderio del pigro lo porta alla morte, perché le sue mani rifiutano di lavorare.	25 The idler's desires are the death of him, since his hands wil do no work.
26 L’empio indulge tutto il giorno alla cupidigia, mentre il giusto dona senza risparmiare.	26 Al day long the godless is racked by desire, the upright gives without ever refusing.
27 Il sacrificio dei malvagi è un orrore, tanto più se offerto con cattiva intenzione.	27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent, above al if it is offered for bad motives.
28 Il falso testimone perirà, ma chi ascolta potrà parlare sempre.	28 The false witness wil perish, but no one who knows how to listen wil ever be silenced.
29 Il malvagio assume un’aria sfrontata, l’uomo retto controlla la propria condotta.	29 The wicked man's strength shows on his face, but the honest it is whose steps are firm.
30 Non c’è sapienza, non c’è prudenza, non c’è consiglio di fronte al Signore.	30 No wisdom, no understanding, no advice is worth anything before Yahweh.
31 Il cavallo è pronto per il giorno della battaglia, ma al Signore appartiene la vittoria.	31 Fit out the cavalry for the day of battle, but the victory is Yahweh's.
