1 Proverbi di Salomone. Il figlio saggio allieta il padre, il figlio stolto contrista sua madre.	1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise child is a father's joy, a foolish child a mother's grief.
2 I tesori male acquistati non giovano, ma la giustizia libera dalla morte.	2 Treasures wickedly come by give no benefit, but uprightness brings delivery from death.
3 Il Signore non lascia che il giusto soffra la fame, ma respinge la cupidigia dei perfidi.	3 Yahweh does not let the upright go hungry, but he thwarts the greed of the wicked.
4 La mano pigra rende poveri, la mano operosa arricchisce.	4 A slack hand brings poverty, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.
5 Chi raccoglie d’estate è previdente e chi dorme al tempo della mietitura è uno svergognato.	5 Reaping at harvest-time is the mark of the prudent, sleeping at harvest-time is the sign of theworthless.
6 Le benedizioni del Signore sul capo del giusto, la bocca degli empi nasconde violenza.	6 Blessings are on the head of the upright, but the mouth of the godless is a cover for violence.
7 La memoria del giusto è in benedizione, il nome degli empi marcisce.	7 The upright is remembered with blessings, the name of the wicked rots away.
8 Chi è saggio di cuore accetta i precetti, chi è stolto di labbra va in rovina.	8 The wise of heart takes orders, but a gabbling fool heads for ruin.
9 Chi cammina nell’integrità va sicuro, chi tiene vie tortuose sarà smascherato.	9 Anyone whose ways are honourable walks secure, but whoever fol ows crooked ways is soonunmasked.
10 Chi chiude un occhio causa dolore, chi riprende a viso aperto procura pace.	10 A wink of the eye brings trouble, a bold rebuke brings peace.
11 Fonte di vita è la bocca del giusto, la bocca degli empi nasconde violenza.	11 The mouth of the upright is a life-giving fountain, but the mouth of the godless is a cover for violence.
12 L’odio suscita litigi, l’amore ricopre ogni colpa.	12 Hatred provokes disputes, but love excuses al offences.
13 Sulle labbra dell’intelligente si trova la sapienza, ma il bastone è per la schiena dello stolto.	13 On the lips of the discerning is found wisdom, on the back of a fool, the stick.
14 I saggi fanno tesoro della scienza, ma la bocca dello stolto è una rovina imminente.	14 Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool makes ruin imminent.
15 I beni del ricco sono la sua roccaforte, la rovina dei poveri è la loro miseria.	15 The wealth of the rich is their stronghold, poverty is the undoing of the weak.
16 Il salario del giusto serve per la vita, il guadagno dell’empio è per i vizi.	16 The wage of the upright affords life, but sin is al the wicked earns.
17 Cammina verso la vita chi accetta la correzione, chi trascura il rimprovero si smarrisce.	17 Whoever abides by discipline, walks towards life, whoever ignores correction goes astray.
18 Dissimulano l’odio le labbra bugiarde, chi diffonde calunnie è uno stolto.	18 Liars' lips are a cover for hatred, whoever utters slander is a fool.
19 Nel molto parlare non manca la colpa, chi frena le labbra è saggio.	19 A flood of words is never without fault; whoever controls the lips is wise.
20 Argento pregiato è la lingua del giusto, il cuore degli empi vale ben poco.	20 The tongue of the upright is purest silver, the heart of the wicked is of trumpery value.
21 Le labbra del giusto nutrono molti, gli stolti invece muoiono per la loro stoltezza.	21 The lips of the upright nourish many peoples, but fools die for want of sense.
22 La benedizione del Signore arricchisce, non vi aggiunge nulla la fatica.	22 The blessing of Yahweh is what brings riches, to this, hard toil has nothing to add.
23 Per lo stolto compiere il male è un divertimento, così coltivare la sapienza per l’uomo prudente.	23 A fool takes pleasure in doing wrong, the intel igent in cultivating wisdom.
24 Al malvagio sopraggiunge il male che teme, il desiderio dei giusti invece è soddisfatto.	24 What the wicked fears overtakes him, what the upright desires comes to him as a present.
25 Passa la bufera e l’empio non c’è più, il giusto invece resta saldo per sempre.	25 When the storm is over, the wicked is no more, but the upright stands firm for ever.
26 Come l’aceto ai denti e il fumo agli occhi, così è il pigro per chi gli affida una missione.	26 As vinegar to the teeth, smoke to the eyes, so the sluggard to the one who sends him.
27 Il timore del Signore prolunga i giorni, ma gli anni dei malvagi sono accorciati.	27 The fear of Yahweh adds length to life, the years of the wicked wil be cut short.
28 L’attesa dei giusti è gioia, ma la speranza degli empi svanirà.	28 The hope of the upright is joy, the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.
29 La via del Signore è una fortezza per l’uomo integro, ma è una rovina per i malfattori.	29 The way of Yahweh is a rampart for the honest, for evil-doers nothing but ruin.
30 Il giusto non vacillerà mai, ma gli empi non dureranno sulla terra.	30 The upright wil never have to give way, but the land wil offer no home for the wicked.
31 La bocca del giusto espande sapienza, la lingua perversa sarà tagliata.	31 The mouth of the upright utters wisdom, the tongue that deceives wil be cut off.
32 Le labbra del giusto conoscono benevolenza, la bocca degli empi cose perverse.	32 The lips of the upright know about kindness, the mouth of the wicked about deceit.
