1 'Canto delle ascensioni. Di Salomone.' Se il Signore non costruisce la casa, invano vi faticano i costruttori. Se il Signore non custodisce la città, invano veglia il custode.	1 A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
2 Invano vi alzate di buon mattino, tardi andate a riposare e mangiate pane di sudore: il Signore ne darà ai suoi amici nel sonno.	2 It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.
3 Ecco, dono del Signore sono i figli, è sua grazia il frutto del grembo.	3 Lo, sons are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.
4 Come frecce in mano a un eroe sono i figli della giovinezza.	4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons of one's youth.
5 Beato l'uomo che ne ha piena la faretra: non resterà confuso quando verrà a trattare alla porta con i propri nemici.	5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
