1 'Canto delle ascensioni. Di Salomone.' Se il Signore non costruisce la casa, invano vi faticano i costruttori. Se il Signore non custodisce la città, invano veglia il custode.	1 When the lord brought back the captivity of Sion, we became like men comforted.
2 Invano vi alzate di buon mattino, tardi andate a riposare e mangiate pane di sudore: il Signore ne darà ai suoi amici nel sonno.	2 Then was our mouth filled with gladness; and our tongue with joy. Then shall they say among the Gentiles: The Lord hath done great things for them.
3 Ecco, dono del Signore sono i figli, è sua grazia il frutto del grembo.	3 The Lord hath done great things for us: we are become joyful.
4 Come frecce in mano a un eroe sono i figli della giovinezza.	4 Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as a stream in the south.
5 Beato l'uomo che ne ha piena la faretra: non resterà confuso quando verrà a trattare alla porta con i propri nemici.	5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
	6 Going they went and wept, casting their seeds.
	7 But coming they shall come with joyfulness, carrying their sheaves.
