BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Observar la ley es hacer muchas ofrendas, atender a los mandamientos es hacer sacrificios de comunión.	1 One who keeps the Law multiplies offerings; one who fol ows the commandments offers communionsacrifices.
2 Devolver favor es hacer oblación de flor de harina, hacer limosna es ofrecer sacrificios de alabanza.	2 Proof of gratitude is an offering of fine flour, almsgiving a sacrifice of praise.
3 Apartarse del mal es complacer al Señor, sacrificio de expiación apartarse de la injusticia.	3 To abandon wickedness is what pleases the Lord, to give up wrong-doing is an expiatory sacrifice.
4 No te presentes ante el Señor con las manos vacías, pues todo esto es lo que prescribe el mandamiento.	4 Do not appear empty-handed in the Lord's presence; for all these things are due under thecommandment.
5 La ofrenda del justo unge el altar, su buen olor sube ante el Altísimo.	5 The offering of the upright graces the altar, and its savour rises before the Most High.
6 El sacrificio del justo es aceptado, su memorial no se olvidará.	6 The sacrifice of the upright is acceptable, its memorial wil not be forgotten.
7 Con ojo generoso glorifica al Señor, y no escatimes las primicias de tus manos.	7 Honour the Lord with generosity, do not stint the first-fruits you bring.
8 En todos tus dones pon tu rostro alegre, con contento consagra los diezmos.	8 Add a smiling face to al your gifts, and be cheerful as you dedicate your tithes.
9 Da al Altísimo como él te ha dado a ti, con ojo generoso, con arreglo a tus medios.	9 Give to the Most High as he has given to you, as generously as your means can afford;
10 Porque el Señor sabe pagar, y te devolverá siete veces más.	10 for the Lord is a good rewarder, he wil reward you seven times over.
11 No trates de corromperle con presentes, porque no los acepta, no te apoyes en sacrificio injusto.	11 Do not try to bribe him with presents, he wil not accept them, do not put your faith in wronglymotivated sacrifices;
12 Porque el Señor es juez, y no cuenta para él la gloria de nadie.	12 for the Lord is a judge who is utterly impartial.
13 No hace acepción de personas contra el pobre, y la plegaria del agraviado escucha.	13 He never shows partiality to the detriment of the poor, he listens to the plea of the injured party.
14 No desdeña la súplica del huérfano, ni a la viuda, cuando derrama su lamento.	14 He does not ignore the orphan's supplication, nor the widow's as she pours out her complaint.
15 Las lágrimas de la viuda, ¿no bajan por su mejilla, y su clamor contra el que las provocó?	15 Do the widow's tears not run down her cheeks, as she accuses the man who is the cause of them?
16 Quien sirve de buena gana, es aceptado, su plegaria sube hasta las nubes.	16 Whoever wholeheartedly serves God will be accepted, his petitions wil carry to the clouds.
17 La oración del humilde las nubes atraviesa, hasta que no llega a su término no se consuela él.	17 The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds: and until it does, he is not to be consoled,
18 Y no desiste hasta que vuelve los ojos el Altísimo, hace justicia a los justos y ejecuta el juicio.	18 nor wil he desist until the Most High takes notice of him, acquits the upright and delivers judgement.
19 Y el Señor no se tardará, ni tendrá con éstos más paciencia,	19 And the Lord will not be slow, nor wil he be dilatory on their behalf,
20 hasta no haber machacado los lomos de los sin entrañas, y haber tomado venganza de las naciones,	20 until he has crushed the loins of the merciless and exacted vengeance on the nations,
21 haber extirpado el tropel de los soberbios, y quebrado el cetro de los injustos,	21 until he has eliminated the hordes of the arrogant and broken the sceptres of the wicked,
22 hasta no haber pagado a cada cual según sus actos, las obras de los hombres según sus intenciones,	22 until he has repaid al people as their deeds deserve and human actions as their intentions merit,
23 haber hecho justicia a su pueblo, y haberles dado contento con su misericordia.	23 until he has judged the case of his people and made them rejoice in his mercy.
24 Grata es la misericordia en tiempo de tribulación, como nubes de lluvia en tiempo de sequía.	24 Mercy is welcome in time of trouble, like rain clouds in time of drought.
