18 La nascita di Gesù Cristo fu in questo modo. Essendo stata la madre di lui Maria sposata a Giuseppe, si scoperse gravida di Spirito santo, prima che stessero insieme.	18 Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. 22 Tutto questo segui, affinchè si adempisse, quanto era stato detto dal Signore per mezzo del Profeta, che dice:	22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
23 Ecco che la Vergine sarà gravida: e partorirà un figliuolo, e lo chiameranno per nome Emanuele: che interpretato significa Dio con noi.	23 "Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel," which means "God is with us."
24 Risvegliatosi adunque Giuseppe dal sonno, fece come ordinato gli avea l'Angelo del Signore, e prese con seco la sua consorte.	24 When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.
25 Ed egli non la conosceva, sino aquando partorì il suo figliuolo primogenito, e chiamollo per nome Gesù.	25 He had no relations with her until she bore a son, and he named him Jesus.
