Lettera a Filemone 1

1 Paolo, prigioniero di Cristo Gesù, e il fratello Timoteo, al caro Filemone, nostro collaboratore;	1 Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy, a brother: to Philemon, our beloved and fellow labourer;
2 alla carissima sorella Appia, e ad Archippo, nostro compagno d'armi, e alla Chiesa che è in casa tua.	2 And to Appia, our dearest sister, and to Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the church which is in thy house:
3 Grazia a voi e pace da Dio Padre nostro e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.	3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Facendo sempre menzione di te nelle mie preghiere, rendo grazie a Dio,	4 I give thanks to my God, always making a remembrance of thee in my prayers.
5 perchè sento parlare della carità e della fede che tu hai nel Signore Gesù e verso tutti i santi,	5 Hearing of thy charity and faith, which thou hast in the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints:
6 tale che la nostra comune fede vien resa evidente dalla conoscenza di tutte le opere buone che sono in voi per Cristo Gesù.	6 That the communication of thy faith may be made evident in the acknowledgment of every good work, that is in you in Christ Jesus.
7 Infatti una gran gioia, una gran consolazione ho avuto nella tua carità, perchè le viscere dei santi ebbero gran sollievo per opera tua, o fratello.	7 For I have had great joy and consolation in thy charity, because the bowels of the saints have been refreshed by thee, brother.
8 Per questo, pur avendo in Cristo molta libertà di comandarti quello che dovresti fare	8 Wherefore though I have much confidence in Christ Jesus, to command thee that which is to the purpose:
9 preferisco pregarti a titolo di carità essendo io Paolo vecchio ed anche per ora prigioniero di Gesù Cristo;	9 For charity sake I rather beseech, whereas thou art such a one, as Paul an old man, and now a prisoner also of Jesus Christ.
10 ti scongiuro per il mio figliolo che ho generato tra le catene, per Onesimo.	10 I beseech thee for my son, whom I have begotten in my bands, Onesimus,
11 Colui che una volta ti fu disutile, ora sarà e per me e per te utilissimo.	11 Who hath been heretofore unprofitable to thee, but now is profitable both to me and thee,
12 Te l'ho rimandato, ma tu ricevilo come il mio cuore.	12 Whom I have sent back to thee. And do thou receive him as my own bowels.
13 Veramente l'avrei voluto ritener con me, perchè in vece tua mi servisse tra le catene del Vangelo;	13 Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered to me in the bands of the gospel:
14 ma nulla ho voluto fare senza il tuo parere, affinchè il tuo benefìcio non fosse come forzato, ma volontario.	14 But without thy counsel I would do nothing: that thy good deed might not be as it were of necessity, but voluntary.
15 Forse egli si è allontanato da te per breve tempo, appunto perchè tu lo ricuperassi in eterno,	15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season from thee, that thou mightest receive him again for ever:
16 e non più come schiavo, ma, invece di schiavo, come fratello carissimo, sommamente a me: e molto più a te, secondo la carne e secondo il Signore.	16 Not now as a servant, but instead of a servant, a most dear brother, especially to me: but how much more to thee both in the flesh and in the Lord?
17 Se dunque mi tieni come tuo intimo amico, accoglilo come se fossi io stesso.	17 If therefore thou count me a partner, receive him as myself.
18 E se t'ha fatto qualche torto o ti deve qualche cosa, mettilo a mio conto.	18 And if he hath wronged thee in any thing, or is in thy debt, put that to my account.
19 Io Paolo, ho scritto di mio pugno « pagherò » per non dirti che devi a me anche te stesso.	19 I Paul have written it with my own hand: I will repay it: not to say to thee, that thou owest me thy own self also.
20 Sì, o fratello, fammi da te questo frutto nel Signore, dona al mio cuore questo sollievo nel Signore!	20 Yea, brother. May I enjoy thee in the Lord. Refresh my bowels in the Lord.
21 Ti ho scritto sicuro della tua obbedienza e che farai anche più di quel che dico.	21 Trusting in thy obedience, I have written to thee: knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.
22 Nel medesimo tempo prepara anche per me la casa, perchè spero, grazie alle vostre preghiere, di esservi ridonato.	22 But withal prepare me also a lodging. For I hope that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.
23 Ti saluta Epafra, mio compagno di prigionia per Cristo Gesù,	23 There salute thee Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus;
24 Marco, Aristarco, Dema e Luca, miei collaboratori.	24 Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke my fellow labourers.
25 La grazia del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo sia col vostro spirito. Così sia.	25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
