| 1 Cose vedute da Isaia, figlio d'Amos, riguardo a Gerusalemme e a Giuda. | 1 The word which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. |
| 2 Negli ultimi giorni il monte della casa del Signore sarà fondato sopra le cime dei monti, s'innalzerà sopra le colline, e vi accorreranno tutte le genti, | 2 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, |
| 3 vi andranno molti popoli, e diranno: venite, andiamo al monte del Signore, alla casa del Dio di Giacobbe: Egli c'insegnerà le sue vie, e noi le seguiremo. Chè da Sion verrà la legge e da Gerusalemme la parola del Signore. | 3 and many peoples shall come, and say: "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. |
| 4 Egli sarà l'arbitro dei popoli e giudicherà le molte nazioni; ed essi trasformeranno le loro spade in vomeri, e le loro lance in falci; una nazione non alzerà più la spada contro l'altra; non impareranno più a far la guerra. | 4 He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. |
| 5 Casa di Giacobbe, venite: camminiamo nella luce del Signore. | 5 O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD. |
| 6 Tu hai rigettato il tuo popolo, la casa di Giacobbe, perchè son pieni, come in antico, ed hanno avuto degli àuguri come i Filistei, e han fatto lega coi servi stranieri. | 6 For thou hast rejected thy people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of diviners from the east and of soothsayers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with foreigners. |
| 7 Il loro paese è pieno d'argento e d'oro, i loro tesori sono senza fine. | 7 Their land is filled with silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is filled with horses, and there is no end to their chariots. |
| 8 Il loro paese è pieno di cavalli, sono innumerevoli i loro cocchi. Il loro paese è pieno d'idoli: hanno adorato l'opera delle loro mani, quello che hanno fatto le loro dita. | 8 Their land is filled with idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their own fingers have made. |
| 9 Il mortale s'è curvato, l'uomo s'è umiliato: dunque non li perdonerai. | 9 So man is humbled, and men are brought low-- forgive them not! |
| 10 Entra nella caverna delle rocce, nasconditi sotto terra davanti al terrore del Signore, e alla gloria della sua maestà. | 10 Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty. |
| 11 I superbi occhi degli uomini sono umiliati, l'alterigia degli uomini sarà abbassata e soltanto il Signore sarà esaltato in quel giorno; | 11 The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the pride of men shall be humbled; and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. |
| 12 perchè il giorno del Signore degli eserciti sarà contro tutti i superbi e gli altieri, contro tutti gli arroganti, che saranno umiliati, | 12 For the LORD of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up and high; |
| 13 contro tutti i cedri del Libano, alti e diritti, contro tutte le querce del Basan; | 13 against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up; and against all the oaks of Bashan; |
| 14 e contro tutti i monti alti, e contro tutte le colline elevate; | 14 against all the high mountains, and against all the lofty hills; |
| 15 e contro tutte le torri eccelse, e contro tutte le mura fortificate; | 15 against every high tower, and against every fortified wall; |
| 16 e contro tutte le navi di Tarsis, e contro tutto quello che è bello a vedersi. | 16 against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the beautiful craft. |
| 17 E l'orgoglio degli uomini sarà abbassato, e la superbia degli uomini sarà umiliata, e soltanto il Signore sarà esaltato in quel giorno. | 17 And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the pride of men shall be brought low; and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. |
| 18 E gli idoli saran del tutto stritolati. | 18 And the idols shall utterly pass away. |
| 19 Ed essi entreranno nelle caverne delle rocce, nelle voragini della terra, davanti al terrore del Signore, allo splendore della sua maestà, quando si leverà a flagellare la terra. | 19 And men shall enter the caves of the rocks and the holes of the ground, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. |
| 20 In quel giorno l'uomo getterà i suoi idoli d'argento e i suoi simulacri d'oro che si era fatti per adorarli, le talpe e i pipistrelli. | 20 In that day men will cast forth their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats, |
| 21 E si rintanerà nelle fessure dei massi, nelle caverne delle rocce davanti al terrore del Signore e allo splendore della sua maestà, quando si leverà a flagellare la terra. | 21 to enter the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. |
| 22 Lasciate adunque l'uomo che ha lo spirito nelle narici. Ed è stato stimato eccelso! | 22 Turn away from man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he? |
