1 (Salmo di David. Memoriale. Pel giorno di sabato).	1 A Psalm of David, in commemoration of the Sabbath.
2 Signore, non mi riprendere nel tuo furore, non mi castigare nel tuo sdegno,	2 O Lord, do not rebuke me in your fury, nor chastise me in your wrath.
3 Perché le tue saette son confitte nella mia persona, e tu hai aggravata sopra di me la tua mano.	3 For your arrows have been driven into me, and your hand has been confirmed over me.
4 Non v'è più parte sana nella mia carne a cagione del tuo sdegno, non han pace le mie ossa per via dei miei peccati.	4 There is no health in my flesh before the face of your wrath. There is no peace for my bones before the face of my sins.
5 Perchè le mie iniquità mi passano sopra il capo e mi opprimono qual grave peso;	5 For my iniquities have walked over my head, and they have been like a heavy burden weighing upon me.
6 Si sono imputridite e corrotte le mie piaghe a motivo della mia follia.	6 My sores have putrefied and been corrupted before the face of my foolishness.
7 Son divenuto infelice e tutto curvo, e passo tutto il giorno nella tristezza.	7 I have become miserable, and I have been bent down, even to the end. I have walked with contrition all day long.
8 Perchè i miei lombi sono pieni d'illusioni e non vi è sanità nella mia carne.	8 For my loins have been filled with illusions, and there is no health in my flesh.
9 Sono abbattuto e oltremodo umiliato, e vo sfogando in ruggiti i gemiti del mio cuore.	9 I have been afflicted and greatly humbled. I bellowed from the groaning of my heart.
10 Signore, ti sta dinanzi ogni mio desiderio, e i miei sospiri non ti son nascosti.	10 O Lord, all my desire is before you, and my groaning before you has not been hidden.
11 Ho il cuore agitato, le forze mi abbandonano, e mi viene meno anche il lume degli occhi.	11 My heart has been disturbed. My strength has abandoned me, and the light of my eyes has abandoned me, and it is not with me.
12 I miei amici e i miei congiunti, dopo essersi un po' avvicinati, si son fermati, e quelli che m'eran vicini s'allontanarono.	12 My friends and my neighbors have drawn near and stood against me. And those who were next to me stood far apart. And those who sought my soul used violence.
13 E quelli che attentano alla mia vita fanno ogni sforzo, e quelli che cercano farmi del male minacciano guai, e tutto il giorno tessono inganni.	13 And those who sought evil accusations against me were speaking emptiness. And they practiced deceitfulness all day long.
14 Ma io come sordo fo vista di non sentire e son come un muto che non apre la sua bocca.	14 But, like someone deaf, I did not hear. And I was like someone mute, not opening his mouth.
15 Mi diporto come un uomo che non sente nulla e che nulla ha da dire in sua difesa.	15 And I became like a man who does not hear, and who has no reproofs in his mouth.
16 Perchè in te, o Signore, ho riposta la mia speranza, tu mi esaudirai, o Signore mio Dio.	16 For in you, Lord, I have hoped. You will listen to me, O Lord my God.
17 Ho detto: « Che non abbiano a sghignazzare di me i miei nemici, i quali, ogni volta che vacillo, parlan contro di me con arroganza ».	17 For I said, “Lest at any time, my enemies might rejoice over me,” and, “While my feet are being shaken, they have spoken great things against me.”
18 Io son esposto ai castighi e il dolore non mi lascia mai.	18 For I have been prepared for scourges, and my sorrow is ever before me.
19 Confesso le mie iniquità e penso al mio peccato.	19 For I will announce my iniquity, and I will think about my sin.
20 Ma i miei nemici vivono e son più forti di me e si son moltiplicati quelli che mi odiano ingiustamente.	20 But my enemies live, and they have been stronger than me. And those who have wrongfully hated me have been multiplied.
21 Quelli che rendono il male per il bene mi denigrano, perchè cerco di fare il bene.	21 Those who render evil for good have dragged me down, because I followed goodness.
22 Non mi abbandonare, o Signore, mio Dio, non ti allontanare da me.	22 Do not forsake me, O Lord my God. Do not depart from me.
23 Accorri in mio soccorso, o Signore, Dio della mia salvezza.	23 Be attentive to my help, O Lord, the God of my salvation.
