Isaia 63

1 - Chi è questi che viene da Edom, tinto le vesti, da Bosra, leggiadro nel suo paludamento, che incede con passo possente? «Sono io che parlo giustizia che procuro la salvezza».	1 Who is this, who arrives from Edom with dyed garments from Bozrah? This is the Handsome One in his robe, advancing by the fullness of his strength. It is I, the Speaker of Justice, and I am the Fighter for Salvation.
2 «Perchè dunque il tuo paludamento è rosso ed il tuo vestito come quello di coloro che pigiano nello strettoio?».	2 So then, why is your garment red, and why are your vestments like the ones of those who tread the winepress?
3 «Da me solo ho spremuto il torchio e delle genti nessuno è con me. Io li ho spremuti nel mio furore, li ho pigiati nell'ira mia, ed il loro sangue schizzò sulle mie vesti, e sono rimasto cogli abiti tutti intrisi».	3 I have trod the winepress alone. And among the nations, there is no man beside me. I have trampled on them in my fury, and I have tread them down in my wrath. And so, their blood has been sprinkled on my vestments, and I have stained all my garments.
4 Perchè ecco il dì fissato in cuor mio per la vendetta, l'anno della redenzione mia è venuto.	4 For the day of vengeance is in my heart. The year of my redemption has arrived.
5 Girai lo sguardo e nessuno prestò soccorso, cercai e non vi fu chi desse aiuto. Il mio braccio allora mi salvò e la mia indignazione fu quella che mi prestò aiuto.	5 I gazed around, and there was no one to assist. I sought, and there was no one who would help. And so, my own arm has saved for me, and my own wrath itself has assisted me.
6 E nel mio furore ho calpestato i popoli e li ho inebriati della mia indignazione ed ho travolto a terra tutta la loro valentia.	6 And I have trampled the peoples in my fury, and I have inebriated them with my indignation, and I have torn down their strength to the ground.
7 Le misericordie del Signore io voglio ricordare, la lode del Signore per i benefici che fece a noi il Signore, e pei molteplici beni che prodigò alla casa d'Israele nella sua clemenza e nella molteplice sua misericordia.	7 I will remember the compassion of the Lord, the praise of the Lord over all that the Lord has bestowed on us, and over the multitude of his good things for the house of Israel, which he has granted to them according to his leniency, and according to the multitude of his mercies.
8 Egli disse: «Essi sono pure il mio popolo, figliuoli che non mi rinnegheranno»: ed egli si fece il loro salvatore.	8 And he said: “Yet truly, these are my people, sons who have not been disowned.” And he became their Savior.
9 In tutte le loro strettezze egli non usò strettezza, e l'angelo che sta nel suo cospetto li salvò: pel suo amore e per la sua benignità li riscattò, li portò e li innalzò in tutti i giorni dei secoli passati.	9 Throughout all their tribulation, he was not troubled, for the Angel of his presence saved them. With his love, and by his leniency, he has redeemed them, and he has carried them and lifted them up, throughout all the days of the ages.
10 Essi invece provocarono il suo sdegno e contristarono lo spirito suo santificatore: onde si convertì in loro nemico, ed egli medesimo li aggredì.	10 But they themselves provoked to wrath and afflicted his Holy Spirit, and he was turned to be for them like an enemy, and he himself went to war against them.
11 E ricordò i tempi antichi di Mosè e del suo popolo: Dov'è colui che lo trasse fuori dal mare coi pastori del suo gregge? dov'è colui che pose in mezzo ad esso il suo santo spirito?	11 And he remembered the days of ancient times, the days of Moses and his people. Where is he who led them out of the sea, with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who placed his Holy Spirit in their midst?
12 che alla destra di Mosè lo condusse col suo braccio maestoso; che divise le acque innanzi a loro per fare a sè un nome eterno?	12 He led Moses by the right hand, with the arm of his majesty. He split the waters before them, in order to make an everlasting name for himself.
13 che lo condusse attraverso gli abissi come cavallo nel campo fuori dagli intoppi,	13 He led them through the abyss, like a horse which does not stumble, in the desert.
14 come un giumento che scende una convalle? Lo spirito del Signore fu il suo condottiero; a questo modo hai condotto il tuo popolo; per farti un nome glorioso.	14 Like an animal who descends to an open field, the Spirit of the Lord was their guide. Thus did you lead your people, in order to make a glorious name for yourself.
15 Guarda giù dal cielo, mira dalla tua dimora santa e gloriosa! Dov'è il tuo zelo e la tua fortezza, l'immensità del tuo amore sviscerato e delle tue misericordie? Esse si sono arrestate sopra di me!	15 Gaze down from heaven, and behold from your holy habitation and from your glory. Where is your zeal, and your strength, the fullness of your heart and of your compassion? They have held themselves back from me.
16 Perchè sei tu nostro padre. Abramo non ci conobbe, ed Israele non seppe di noi; tu, Signore, sei nostro padre, redentore nostro, il tuo nome è da secoli e secoli.	16 For you are our Father, and Abraham has not known us, and Israel has been ignorant of us. You are our Father, O Lord our Redeemer. Your name is beyond all ages.
17 Perchè ci hai lasciati sviare dalle tue vie, hai indurito il nostro cuore da non più temerti? Rivolgiti a noi per amore dei tuoi servi, delle tribù che sono la tua eredità!	17 Why have you allowed us to stray from your ways, O Lord? Why have you hardened our heart, so that we do not fear you? Return, for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your inheritance.
18 Quasi come niente s'impossessarono del tuo popolo santo; i nostri nemici conculcarono il tuo santuario.	18 They have possessed your holy people as if it were nothing. Our enemies have trampled your sanctuary.
19 Siamo diventati come eravamo da principio, quando tu non eri ancora nostro Signore e non era ancora invocato il tuo nome sopra di noi.	19 We have become as we were in the beginning, when you did not rule over us, and when we were not called by your name.
