Isaia 51

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Udite me, voi che perseguite la giustizia e che cercate il Signore, ponete mente alla roccia donde foste tagliati, e alla cava aperta da cui foste cavati.	1 Listen to me, you who pursue saving justice, you who seek Yahweh. Consider the rock from which youwere hewn, the quarry from which you were dug.
2 Ponete mente ad Abramo padre vostro e a Sara vostra progenitrice; chè lui [quand'era] solo ho chiamato, e l'ho benedetto e l'ho moltiplicato.	2 Consider Abraham your father and Sarah who gave you birth. When I cal ed him he was the only onebut I blessed him and made him numerous.
3 Dunque il Signore consolerà anche Sion e ristorerà tutte le sue rovine; e la sua desolazione ridurrà amena come un Eden e la sua solitudine come un giardino di Dio. Il gaudio e la letizia in essa si troveranno, l'inno del ringraziamento e la voce di laude.	3 Yes, Yahweh has pity on Zion, has pity on al her ruins; he wil turn her desert into an Eden and herwastelands into the garden of Yahweh. Joy and gladness wil be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound ofmusic.
4 Prestatemi attenzione, o popolo mio, o gente mia, ascoltatemi! Perchè da me uscirà la legge, e il mio comandamento in luce dei popoli sovr'essi riposerà.	4 Pay attention to me, my people, listen to me, my nation, for a law will come from me, and I shall makemy saving justice the light of peoples.
5 Il mio giusto è vicino a venire, il mio salvatore è già uscito, e le mie braccia giudicheranno i popoli e le isole me aspetteranno e attenderanno il mio braccio.	5 My justice is suddenly approaching, my salvation appears, my arm is about to judge the peoples. Thecoasts and islands wil put their hope in me and put their trust in my arm.
6 Alzate i vostri occhi al cielo, abbassateli verso la terra e mirate; i cieli come fumo svaniranno e la terra come una veste si consumerà e i tuoi abitatori parimenti moriranno. Ma la mia salute sarà in sempiterno, e la mia giustizia non verrà mai meno.	6 Raise your eyes to the heavens, look down at the earth; for the heavens will vanish like smoke, theearth wear out like clothing and its inhabitants die like vermin, but my salvation wil last for ever and my savingjustice remain inviolable.
7 Uditemi, voi, che conoscete la giustizia, popolo mio che la mia legge ha nel suo cuore; non temete gli obbrobri degli uomini, non paventate le loro bestemmie!	7 Listen to me, you who know what saving justice means, a people who take my laws to heart: do notfear people's taunts, do not be alarmed by their insults,
8 Perchè come un vestito saranno rosi dalle tarme e li divorerà la tignuola come lana; ma la mia salute sarà in sempiterno, e la mia giustizia per tutte le generazioni.	8 for the moth wil eat them like clothing, the grub wil devour them like wool, but my saving justice willast for ever and my salvation for al generations.
9 Risvegliati, risvegliati, rivestiti di forza, o braccio del Signore! Risvegliati come nei giorni antichi, come nelle generazioni dei secoli passati! Non sei tu che hai percosso il superbo e ferito il dragone?	9 Awake, awake! Clothe yourself in strength, arm of Yahweh. Awake, as in the olden days, generationslong ago! Was it not you who split Rahab in half, who pierced the Dragon through?
10 Non sei tu che hai seccato il mare e le acque dell'abisso impetuoso, che facesti del fondo del mare una via perchè passassero i liberati?	10 Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great Abyss; who made the sea-bed into a roadfor the redeemed to go across?
11 Anche adesso i riscattati del Signore ritorneranno e verranno in Sion inneggianti: l'aureola della gioia eterna sarà sul loro capo, avranno conseguito il gaudio e la letizia e sarà sbandito il dolore e il pianto.	11 This is why those whom Yahweh has ransomed wil return, they wil enter Zion shouting for joy, theirheads crowned with a joy unending; joy and gladness wil escort them and sorrow and sighing wil take flight.
12 Io, io sarò quello che vi consolerò. Chi sei tu da aver paura di un uomo mortale, di un figlio dell'uomo che seccherà come l'erba?	12 I, I am your consoler. Why then should you be afraid of mortal human beings, of a child of man, whosefate is that of the grass?
13 E ti dimenticasti del Signore che ti ha fatto, che distese i cieli e fondò la terra; e sei stato tutto il giorno in continuo spavento che si riaffacciasse furibondo il tuo oppressore che si teneva preparato a sterminarti! Dove è adesso il furore dell'oppressore?	13 You forget about Yahweh your Creator who spread out the heavens and laid the earth's foundations;you have never stopped trembling al day long before the fury of the oppressor when he was bent on destruction.Where is the oppressor's fury now?
14 Presto giungerà colui che s'avanza per aprire, e non lascerà che sia fatto morire sterminato, nè che manchi il suo pane.	14 The despairing captive is soon to be set free; he will not die in the dungeon, nor wil his food run out.
15 Io sono il Signore Dio tuo, che sconvolgo il mare e gonfio i suoi flutti: Signore degli eserciti è il mio nome.	15 I am Yahweh your God who stirs up the sea, making its waves roar -- Yahweh Sabaoth is my name.
16 Io ho posto le mie parole nella tua bocca, e sotto l'ombra delle mie mani ti ho protetto, affinchè tu pianti i cieli e fondi la terra e dica a Sion: «Tu sei il popolo mio!».	16 I put my words into your mouth, I hid you in the shadow of my hand, to spread out the heavens andlay the earth's foundations and say to Zion, 'You are my people.'
17 Ridestati, ridestati, risorgi, o Gerusalemme, che dalla mano del Signore hai bevuto il calice dell'ira sua; hai trangugiato sino in fondo il calice dello stordimento, l'hai succhiato fino alla feccia.	17 Awake, awake! To your feet, Jerusalem! You who from Yahweh's hand have drunk the cup of hiswrath. The chalice, the stupefying cup, you have drained to the dregs.
18 Tra tutti i figli che ha generato non v'è alcuno che la sorregga: tra tutti i figli che ha allevato non v'è alcuno che la prenda per mano.	18 There is no one to guide her of al the children she has borne, no one to grasp her hand of al thechildren she has reared.
19 Due sciagure t'incolsero, e chi è che ti compassioni? La devastazione e lo sterminio, la fame e la spada; chi ti consolerà?	19 Double disaster has befal en you -- who is there to sympathise? Pillage and ruin, famine and sword --who is there to console you?
20 I tuoi figli gettati nell'abbandono si coricarono ai canti di tutte le strade, legati come un'antilope presa al laccio, colmi dell'ira del Signore e della vendetta del tuo Dio.	20 Your children are lying helpless at the end of every street like an antelope trapped in a net; they arefilled to the brim with Yahweh's wrath, with the rebuke of your God.
21 Per questo, o misera, o ebbra non di vino, ascolta!	21 So listen to this, afflicted one, drunk, though not with wine.
22 Così dice il tuo dominatore il Signore e Dio tuo che prenderà le difese per il suo popolo: «Ecco ch'io ti ho tolto di mano il calice dell'ira mia, tu non lo berrai mai più».	22 Thus says your Lord Yahweh, your God, defender of your people: Look, I am taking the stupefyingcup from your hand, the chalice, the cup of my wrath, you wil not have to drink again.
23 E lo porrò in mano di coloro che ti hanno umiliata e che dissero, a te: «Curvati, che noi passiamo sopra!». E dovesti far del corpo terra, e come una strada a quei che passavano.	23 I shal hand it to your tormentors who used to say to you, 'On the ground! So that we can walk overyou!' And you would flatten your back like the ground, like a street for them to walk on.
