Isaia 42

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 - «Ecco il mio servo, io lo soccorrerò, il mio eletto in cui si compiace l'anima mia; ho diffuso sopra di lui il mio spirito, egli promulgherà la giustizia alle nazioni.	1 Behold my servant, I will uphold him: my elect, my soul delighteth in him: I have given my spirit upon him, he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2 Non griderà, non farà accezione di persone, e non si udirà di fuori la sua voce.	2 He shall not cry, nor have respect to person, neither shall his voice be heard abroad.
3 Non spezzerà la canna fessa, e non spegnerà il lucignolo che fuma; proferirà i suoi giudizi con verità.	3 The bruised reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4 Non si sgomenterà e non sarà precipitoso, finchè avrà ristabilita in terra la giustizia; da lui le isole aspetteranno la legge».	4 He shall not be sad, nor troublesome, till he set judgment in the earth: and the islands shall wait for his law.
5 Così dice il Signore Dio, che crea i cieli e li distende; che ha stabilita la terra con tutto quello che germoglia da essa; che dà il respiro al popolo che vi abita sopra, e l'alito a quelli che la calcano:	5 Thus saith the Lord God that created the heavens, and stretched them out: that established the earth, and the things that spring out of it: that giveth breath to the people upon it, and spirit to them that tread thereon.
6 «Io il Signore ti ho chiamato nella giustizia, ti ho preso per mano e ti ho custodito. E ti ho stabilito mediatore del popolo, luce delle nazioni.	6 I the Lord have called thee in justice, and taken thee by the hand, and preserved thee. And I have given thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles:
7 Affinchè aprissi gli occhi ai ciechi, strappassi dalle catene i prigionieri, e dalla carcere quei che giacciono nelle tenebre.	7 That thou mightest open the eyes of the blind, and bring forth the prisoner out of prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
8 Io sono il Signore, questo è il mio nome; la gloria mia non darò ad altri, nè l'onor mio ai simulacri.	8 I the Lord, this is my name: I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to graven things.
9 Le cose preannunziate, ecco che vengono: ma io ve ne predico ancora delle nuove; avanti che avvengano io ve le annunzio».	9 The things that were first, behold they are come: and new things do I declare: before they spring forth, I will make you head them.
10 Cantate al Signore un cantico nuovo, la sua lode, dagli ultimi confini della terra, voi, che solcate il mare, e quelli che lo popolano, le isole e i loro abitatori!	10 Sing ye to the Lora a new song, his praise is from the ends of the earth: you that go down to the sea, and all that are therein: ye islands, and ye inhabitants of them.
11 Il deserto colle sue città intonino un cantico, echeggi nelle case ove abita Cedar; abitatori di Petra inneggiate, voci acclamanti risuonino dalle vette dei monti!	11 Let the desert and the cities thereof be exalted: Cedar shall dwell in houses: ye inhabitants of Petra, give praise, they shall cry from the top of the mountains.
12 Rendano gloria al Signore e annunzino alle isole la sua lode.	12 They shall give glory to the Lord, and shall declare his praise in the islands.
13 Il Signore uscirà fuori come un guerriero, come un uomo di battaglia eccitato dall'emulazionealzerà la sua voce e grideràe sopraffarà i suoi nemici.	13 The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, as a man of war shall he stir up zeal: he shall shout and cry: he shall prevail against his enemies.
14 Sono stato sempre in silenzio, ho taciuto, ho pazientato: ma ora, come una donna al rompere del parto, farò sentire la mia voce e allargherò il respiro, dissipando e travolgendo insieme.	14 I have always held my peace, I have I kept silence, I have been patient, I will speak now as a woman in labour: I will destroy, and swallow up at once.
15 Diserterò i monti e i colli, e farò seccare tutta la loro vegetazione e cangerò i fiumi in terra asciutta, e farò inaridire i laghi.	15 I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and will make all their grass to wither: and I will turn rivers into islands, and will dry up the standing pools.
16 E avvierò i ciechi per la strada che mai avevano conosciuta, e gl'incamminerò per i sentieri che avevano ignorato; cangerò le loro tenebre in luce e le vie torte in istrade diritte: queste cose farò con essi e non li abbandonerò.	16 And I will lead the blind into the way which they know not: and in the paths which they were ignorant of I will make them walk: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight: these things have I done to them, and have not forsaken them.
17 Si voltarono indietro pieni di confusione quei che confidavano nei simulacri, che dicono alle statue: «Voi siete i nostri dèi!».	17 They are turned back: let them be greatly confounded, that trust in a graven thing, that say to a molten thing: You are our god.
18 Sordi, udite: ciechi, guardate per vedere!	18 Hear, ye deaf, and, ye blind, behold that you may see.
19 Chi è il cieco, se non il mio servo? chi è il sordo se non quello a cui inviai i miei nunzi? chi è il cieco se non colui che è stato venduto? chi è il cieco se non il servo del Signore?	19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, but he to whom I have sent my messengers? Who is blind, but he that is sold? or who is blind, but the servant of the Lord?
20 Tu che vedi tante cose, non ne farai tesoro? tu che hai le orecchie aperte, non ascolterai?	20 Thou that seest many things, wilt thou not observe them? thou that hast ears open, wilt thou not hear?
21 E il Signore aveva voluto renderlo santo, e magnificare la legge; e rialzarne il prestigio.	21 And the Lord was willing to sanctify him, and to magnify the law, and exalt it.
22 E intanto, ecco il mio popolo saccheggiato e devastato, tutti i giovani in catene e chiusi nelle carceri; sono stati catturati e non c'è chi li riscatti, sono stati predati e non c'è chi dica: «Rendili!».	22 But this is a people that is robbed and wasted: they are all the snare of young men, and they are hid in the houses of prisons: they are made a prey, and there is none to deliver them: a spoil, and there is none that saith: Restore.
23 Chi è tra voi che presti orecchio a questo e faccia attenzione e ascolti per l'avvenire?	23 Who is there among you that will give ear to this, that will attend and hearken for times to come?
24 Chi ha dato Giacobbe in preda al saccheggio e Israele ai devastatori? non è forse il Signore contro del quale abbiamo peccato? Non hanno voluto camminare sulle sue strade e non hanno obbedito alla sua legge.	24 Who hath given Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to robbers? hath not the Lord himself, against whom we have sinned? And they would not walk in his ways, and they have not hearkened to his law.
25 E ha riversato sopra di lui il suo furore indignato e una guerra formidabile; e divampò tutto intorno ed egli non se ne diede per inteso: lo mise a fuoco e fiamme e non vi ha posto mente.	25 And he hath poured out upon him the indignation of his fury, and a strong battle, and hath burnt him round about, and he knew not: and set him on fire, and he understood not.
