1 - Salmo di David: quando era nel deserto dell'Idumea.	1 [For the choirmaster . . . Jeduthun Psalm Of David] In God alone there is rest for my soul, from himcomes my safety;
2 Dio, Dio mio, sin dall'alba io ti cerco: è assetata di te l'anima mia, ed oh! quanto [anela] a te la mia carne	2 he alone is my rock, my safety, my stronghold so that I stand unshaken.
3 in [questa] terra deserta, impraticabile e senz'acqua! Così [anelando, un tempo] a te mi presentavo nel tempio, per contemplar la tua potenza e la tua gloria.	3 How much longer wil you set on a victim, al together, intent on murder, like a rampart already leaningover, a wall already damaged?
4 Poichè la tua grazia val meglio della vita, le mie labbra ti loderanno!	4 Trickery is their only plan, deception their only pleasure, with lies on their lips they pronounce ablessing, with a curse in their hearts.Pause
5 Così ti benedirò nella mia vita, e nel tuo nome solleverò le mie mani.	5 Rest in God alone, my soul! He is the source of my hope.
6 Quasi di grasso e di midollo si sazierà l'anima mia, e con labbra esultanti [ti] loderà la mia bocca.	6 He alone is my rock, my safety, my stronghold, so that I stand unwavering.
7 Sì, mi son ricordato di te sul mio giaciglio, nelle veglie io ripenso a te!	7 In God is my safety and my glory, the rock of my strength. In God is my refuge;
8 Perchè tu sei il mio aiutoe all'ombra delle tue ali esulto;	8 trust in him, you people, at al times. Pour out your hearts to him, God is a refuge for us.Pause
9 s'è attaccata a te l'anima mia, e mi sostiene la tua destra!	9 Ordinary people are a mere puff of wind, important people a delusion; set both on the scales together,and they are lighter than a puff of wind.
10 E invano essi insidian la mia vita: se n'andranno qui nelle viscere della terra.	10 Put no trust in extortion, no empty hopes in robbery; however much wealth may multiply, do not setyour heart on it.
11 Saranno abbandonati in poter della spada, preda saran di sciacalli.	11 Once God has spoken, twice have I heard this: Strength belongs to God,
12 Ma il re si rallegrerà in Dio; si glorieranno quanti giurano per lui, perchè sarà tappata la bocca di chi iniquamente parla.	12 to you, Lord, faithful love; and you repay everyone as their deeds deserve.
