Salmi 34

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 - Di David. Giudica, o Signore, quei che mi fan del male, combatti quei che mi combattono.	1 Of David himself. O Lord, judge those who harm me; assail those who attack me.
2 Piglia le armi e lo scudoe lèvati in mio aiuto.	2 Take hold of weapons and a shield, and rise up in assistance to me.
3 Sguaina la spada e sbarra [la via] di fronte a' miei persecutori, di' all'anima mia: «Io son la salvezza!».	3 Bring forth the spear, and close in on those who persecute me. Say to my soul, “I am your salvation.”
4 Sian confusi e svergognati quei che insidian la mia vita, sian volti in fuga e confusi quei che mi traman sciagure.	4 Let them be confounded and in awe, who pursue my soul. Let them be turned back and be confounded, who think up evil against me.
5 Divengan come polvere in faccia al vento, e l'angelo del Signore li spinga via.	5 May they become like dust before the face of the wind, and let the Angel of the Lord hem them in.
6 Sia la via loro tenebre e sdrucciolo, e l'angelo del Signore gl'incalzi.	6 May their way become dark and slippery, and may the Angel of the Lord pursue them.
7 Perché senza ragione han nascosto per me il loro laccio di morte, senza motivo han colmato d'obbrobri l'anima mia.	7 For, without cause, they have concealed their snare for me unto destruction. Over nothing, they have rebuked my soul.
8 Gli venga addosso [a ciascuno] la rovina cui non pensa, e la rete che ha nascosto l'acchiappi, e qui nel laccio e' cada [in malora].	8 Let the snare, of which he is ignorant, come upon him, and let the deception, which he has hidden, take hold of him: and may he fall into that very snare.
9 Allora l'anima mia esulterà nel Signore, e si rallegrerà della salvezza da lui [venuta].	9 But my soul will exult in the Lord and delight over his salvation.
10 Tutte le mie ossa diranno:«0 Signore, chi mai è come te? Tu che liberi il misero dalle mani de' più forti, il meschino e il povero da quei che lo spogliano».	10 All my bones will say, “Lord, who is like you?” He rescues the needy from the hand of the stronger one, the indigent and the poor from those who plunder him.
11 Si levan su testimoni iniqui, di cose che ignoro mi domandan conto,	11 Unfair witnesses have risen up, interrogating me about things of which I am ignorant.
12 mi rendon male per bene, sterilità [preparano] all'anima mia.	12 They repaid me evil for good, to the deprivation of my soul.
13 Io invece, quand'erano infermi, vestivo il cilicio, mortificavo col digiuno l'anima mia, e la mia orazione si ripercoteva sul mio seno.	13 But as for me, when they were harassing me, I was clothed with haircloth. I humbled my soul with fasting, and my prayer will become my sinews.
14 Come d'un amico e d'un fratello mi pigliavo cura [d'ognuno di loro] ; quasi in lutto e tristezza, me n'andavo curvo così.	14 Like a neighbor, and like our brother, so did I please; like one mourning and contrite, so was I humbled.
15 Ed [or ch'io vacillo], contro di me si rallegrano e s'adunano: s'adunan contro di me per colpirmi a mia insaputa,	15 And they have been joyful against me, and they joined together. Scourges have been gathered over me, and I was ignorant of it.
16 mi dilanian senza mai cessare, mi tentano, mi scherniscono con scherno [feroce], digrignan contro di me i loro denti.	16 They have been scattered, yet they were unremorseful. They have tested me. They scoffed at me with scorn. They gnashed their teeth over me.
17 O Signore, [sino a] quando starai a guardare? Salva l'anima mia dalla loro malvagità, dai leoni l'unico mio [bene].	17 Lord, when will you look down upon me? Restore my soul from before their malice, my only one from before the lions.
18 Ti celebrerò in assemblea numerosa, tra denso popolo ti loderò.	18 I will confess to you in a great Church. I will praise you among a weighty people.
19 Non gioiscano di me quelli che iniquamente m'avversano; quei che m'odian senza ragione non ammicchino con gli occhi!	19 May those who are my unjust adversaries not be glad over me: those who have hated me without cause, and who nod agreement with their eyes.
20 Poichè non parlan di pace, e contro i mansueti della terra tramano inganni.	20 For indeed, they spoke peacefully to me; and speaking with passion to the earth, they intended deceit.
21 E spalancan su me la loro bocca, dicono: «Bene, bene! han visto i nostri occhi [quel che volevamo]!».	21 And they opened their mouth wide over me. They said, “Well, well, our eyes have seen.”
22 [Tu pure] hai visto, o Signore; non startene zitto!0 Signore, non ti allontanar da me.	22 You have seen, O Lord, do not be silent. Lord, do not depart from me.
23 Lèvati e prendi a cuore il mio giudizio: o Dio mio e mio Signore, [prendi a cuore] la mia causa.	23 Rise up and be attentive to my judgment, to my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 Giudicami secondo la tua giustizia, Signore Dio mio, e non godano a motivo di me.	24 Judge me according to your justice, O Lord, my God, and do not let them be glad over me.
25 Non dicano in cuor loro: «Bene, bene per noi!», non dicano: «L'abbiam divorato!».	25 Do not let them say in their hearts, “Well, well, to our soul.” Neither let them say, “We have devoured him.”
26 Arrossiscano e sian svergognati a un tempoquei che si rallegrano delle mie sciagure, sian coperti di confusione e di vergognaquei che parlano arrogantemente contro di me.	26 Let them blush and be in awe together, those who congratulate at my misfortunes. Let them be clothed with confusion and awe, who speak great things against me.
27 Esultino e si rallegrino quanti favoriscon la mia giustizia; e dican sempre: «Sia magnificato il Signore, che vuole la pace del mio servo!».	27 Let them exult and rejoice, who wish my justice, and let them ever say, “The Lord be magnified,” who will the peace of his servant.
28 E la mia lingua celebrerà la tua giustizia, tutto il giorno [canterà] la tua lode.	28 And so my tongue will express your justice: your praise all day long.
