BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Chi disprezza i rimproveri con ostinazione sarà rovinato all’improvviso, senza rimedio.	1 Whoever is stiff-necked under reproof wil be suddenly and irremediably broken.
2 Quando dominano i giusti, il popolo gioisce, quando governano i malvagi, il popolo geme.	2 When the upright are on the increase, the people rejoice; when the wicked are in power, the peoplegroan.
3 Chi ama la sapienza allieta il padre, ma chi frequenta prostitute dissipa il patrimonio.	3 The lover of Wisdom makes his father glad, but the patron of prostitutes fritters his wealth away.
4 Il re con la giustizia rende prospero il paese, quello che aggrava le imposte lo rovina.	4 A king gives a country stability by justice, an extortioner brings it to ruin.
5 L’uomo che adula il suo prossimo gli tende una rete davanti ai piedi.	5 Whoever flatters his companion spreads a net for his feet.
6 Con la sua trasgressione l’iniquo si prepara un trabocchetto, mentre il giusto giubila e si rallegra.	6 In the sin of the wicked lies a snare, but the upright exults and rejoices.
7 Il giusto riconosce il diritto dei miseri, il malvagio invece non intende ragione.	7 The upright understands the cause of the weak, the wicked has not the wit to understand it.
8 Gli uomini senza scrupoli sovvertono una città, mentre i saggi placano la collera.	8 Scoffers set a city in ferment, but the wise moderate anger.
9 Se un saggio entra in causa con uno stolto, si agiti o rida, non troverà riposo.	9 Let someone wise argue with a fool, anger and good humour alike wil be wasted.
10 Gli uomini sanguinari odiano l’onesto, mentre i giusti hanno cura di lui.	10 The bloodthirsty hate the honest, but the upright seek them out.
11 Lo stolto dà sfogo a tutto il suo malanimo, il saggio alla fine lo sa calmare.	11 The fool blurts out every angry feeling, but the wise subdues and restrains them.
12 Se un principe dà ascolto alle menzogne, tutti i suoi ministri sono malvagi.	12 When a ruler listens to false reports, al his ministers wil be scoundrels.
13 Il povero e l’oppressore s’incontrano in questo: è il Signore che illumina gli occhi di tutti e due.	13 Poor and oppressor are found together, Yahweh gives light to the eyes of both.
14 Se un re giudica i poveri con equità, il suo trono è saldo per sempre.	14 The king who judges the weak with equity sees his throne set firm for ever.
15 La verga e la correzione danno sapienza, ma il giovane lasciato a se stesso disonora sua madre.	15 The stick and the reprimand bestow wisdom, a young man left to himself brings shame on his mother.
16 Quando dominano i malvagi, dominano anche i delitti, ma i giusti ne vedranno la rovina.	16 When the wicked are on the increase, sin multiplies, but the upright wil witness their downfal .
17 Correggi tuo figlio e ti darà riposo e ti procurerà consolazioni.	17 Correct your child, and he wil give you peace of mind; he will delight your soul.
18 Quando non c’è visione profetica, il popolo è sfrenato; beato invece chi osserva la legge.	18 Where there is no vision the people get out of hand; happy are they who keep the law.
19 Lo schiavo non si corregge a parole: comprende, infatti, ma non obbedisce.	19 Not by words is a slave corrected: even if he understands, he will take no notice.
20 Hai visto un uomo precipitoso nel parlare? C’è più da sperare da uno stolto che da lui.	20 You see someone too ready of speech? There is more to be hoped for from a fool!
21 Chi accarezza lo schiavo fin dall’infanzia, alla fine se lo vedrà contro.	21 If a slave is pampered from childhood, he wil prove ungrateful in the end.
22 Un uomo collerico suscita litigi e l’iracondo commette molte colpe.	22 The hot-head provokes disputes, someone in a rage commits al sorts of sins.
23 L’orgoglio dell’uomo ne provoca l’umiliazione, l’umile di cuore ottiene onori.	23 Pride brings humiliation, whoever humbles himself will win honour.
24 Chi spartisce con un ladro odia se stesso: egli sente la maledizione, ma non rivela nulla.	24 To hear the curse and disclose nothing is to share with the thief and to hate oneself.
25 Chi teme gli uomini si mette in una trappola, ma chi confida nel Signore è al sicuro.	25 To be afraid of human beings is a snare, whoever trusts in Yahweh is secure.
26 Molti ricercano il favore di chi comanda, ma è il Signore che giudica ognuno.	26 Many people seek a ruler's favour, but the rights of each come from Yahweh.
27 L’iniquo è un orrore per i giusti e gli uomini retti sono un orrore per i malvagi.	27 Abhorrent to the upright is the sinful, abhorrent to the wicked is one whose way is straight.
