1 Chi disprezza i rimproveri con ostinazione sarà rovinato all’improvviso, senza rimedio.	1 The man who remains stiff-necked and hates rebuke will be crushed suddenly beyond cure.
2 Quando dominano i giusti, il popolo gioisce, quando governano i malvagi, il popolo geme.	2 When the just prevail, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
3 Chi ama la sapienza allieta il padre, ma chi frequenta prostitute dissipa il patrimonio.	3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but he who consorts with harlots squanders his wealth.
4 Il re con la giustizia rende prospero il paese, quello che aggrava le imposte lo rovina.	4 By justice a king gives stability to the land; but he who imposes heavy taxes ruins it.
5 L’uomo che adula il suo prossimo gli tende una rete davanti ai piedi.	5 The man who flatters his neighbor is spreading a net under his feet.
6 Con la sua trasgressione l’iniquo si prepara un trabocchetto, mentre il giusto giubila e si rallegra.	6 The wicked man steps into a snare, but the just man runs on joyfully.
7 Il giusto riconosce il diritto dei miseri, il malvagio invece non intende ragione.	7 The just man has a care for the rights of the poor; the wicked man has no such concern.
8 Gli uomini senza scrupoli sovvertono una città, mentre i saggi placano la collera.	8 Arrogant men set the city ablaze, but wise men calm the fury.
9 Se un saggio entra in causa con uno stolto, si agiti o rida, non troverà riposo.	9 If a wise man disputes with a fool, he may rage or laugh but can have no peace.
10 Gli uomini sanguinari odiano l’onesto, mentre i giusti hanno cura di lui.	10 Bloodthirsty men hate the honest man, but the upright show concern for his life.
11 Lo stolto dà sfogo a tutto il suo malanimo, il saggio alla fine lo sa calmare.	11 The fool gives vent to all his anger; but by biding his time, the wise man calms it.
12 Se un principe dà ascolto alle menzogne, tutti i suoi ministri sono malvagi.	12 If a ruler listens to lying words, his servants all become wicked.
13 Il povero e l’oppressore s’incontrano in questo: è il Signore che illumina gli occhi di tutti e due.	13 The poor and the oppressor have a common bond: the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.
14 Se un re giudica i poveri con equità, il suo trono è saldo per sempre.	14 If a king is zealous for the rights of the poor, his throne stands firm forever.
15 La verga e la correzione danno sapienza, ma il giovane lasciato a se stesso disonora sua madre.	15 The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a boy left to his whims disgraces his mother.
16 Quando dominano i malvagi, dominano anche i delitti, ma i giusti ne vedranno la rovina.	16 When the wicked prevail, crime increases; but their downfall the just will behold.
17 Correggi tuo figlio e ti darà riposo e ti procurerà consolazioni.	17 Correct your son, and he will bring you comfort, and give delight to your soul.
18 Quando non c’è visione profetica, il popolo è sfrenato; beato invece chi osserva la legge.	18 Without prophecy the people become demoralized; but happy is he who keeps the law.
19 Lo schiavo non si corregge a parole: comprende, infatti, ma non obbedisce.	19 By words no servant can be trained; for he understands what is said, but obeys not.
20 Hai visto un uomo precipitoso nel parlare? C’è più da sperare da uno stolto che da lui.	20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? More can be hoped for from a fool!
21 Chi accarezza lo schiavo fin dall’infanzia, alla fine se lo vedrà contro.	21 If a man pampers his servant from childhood, he will turn out to be stubborn.
22 Un uomo collerico suscita litigi e l’iracondo commette molte colpe.	22 An ill-tempered man stirs up disputes, and a hotheaded man is the cause of many sins.
23 L’orgoglio dell’uomo ne provoca l’umiliazione, l’umile di cuore ottiene onori.	23 Man's pride causes his humiliation, but he who is humble of spirit obtains honor.
24 Chi spartisce con un ladro odia se stesso: egli sente la maledizione, ma non rivela nulla.	24 The accomplice of a thief is his own enemy: he hears himself put under a curse, yet discloses nothing.
25 Chi teme gli uomini si mette in una trappola, ma chi confida nel Signore è al sicuro.	25 The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.
26 Molti ricercano il favore di chi comanda, ma è il Signore che giudica ognuno.	26 Many curry favor with the ruler, but the rights of each are from the LORD.
27 L’iniquo è un orrore per i giusti e gli uomini retti sono un orrore per i malvagi.	27 The evildoer is an abomination to the just, and he who walks uprightly is an abomination to the wicked.
