BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 En tus riquezas no te apoyes ni digas: «Tengo bastante con ellas».	1 Do not put your confidence in your money or say, 'With this I am self-sufficient.'
2 No te dejes arrastrar por tu deseo y tu fuerza para seguir la pasión de tu corazón.	2 Do not be led by your appetites and energy to follow the passions of your heart.
3 No digas: «¿Quién me domina a mí?», porque el Señor cierto que te castigará.	3 And do not say, 'Who has authority over me?' for the Lord will certainly give you your deserts.
4 No digas: «Pequé, y ¿qué me ha pasado?», porque el Señor es paciente.	4 Do not say, 'I have sinned, but what harm has befal en me?' for the Lord's forbearance is long.
5 Del perdón no te sientas tan seguro que acumules pecado tras pecado.	5 Do not be so sure of forgiveness that you add sin to sin.
6 No digas: «Su compasión es grande, él me perdonará la multitud de mis pecados». Porque en él hay misericordia, pero también hay cólera, y en los pecadores se desahoga su furor.	6 And do not say, 'His compassion is great, he will forgive me my many sins'; for with him are both mercyand retribution, and his anger does not pass from sinners.
7 No te tardes en volver al Señor, no lo difieras de un día para otro, pues de pronto salta la ira del Señor, y perecerás al tiempo del castigo.	7 Do not delay your return to the Lord, do not put it off day after day; for suddenly the Lord's wrath wilblaze out, and on the day of punishment you wil be utterly destroyed.
8 No te apoyes en riquezas injustas, que de nada te servirán el día de la adversidad.	8 Do not set your heart on il -gotten gains, they wil be of no use to you on the day of disaster.
9 No avientes a cualquier viento, ni vayas por cualquier senda, (así hace el pecador de lengua doble).	9 Do not winnow in every wind, or walk along every by-way (as the double-talking sinner does).
10 Manténte firme en tu pensamiento, y sea una tu palabra.	10 Be steady in your convictions, and be a person of your word.
11 Sé pronto en escuchar, y tardo en responder.	11 Be quick to listen, and deliberate in giving an answer.
12 Si sabes alguna cosa, a tu prójimo responde, si no, pon tu mano en la boca.	12 If you understand the matter, give your neighbour an answer, if not, keep your hand over your mouth.
13 Gloria y deshonra caben en el hablar, y en la lengua del hombre está su ruina.	13 Both honour and disgrace come from talking, the tongue is its owner's downfal .
14 Que no se te llame maldiciente, no pongas lazos con tu lengua, que sobre el ladrón cae la vergüenza, y dura condenación sobre la lengua doble.	14 Do not get a name for scandal-mongering, do not set traps with your tongue; for as shame lies in storefor the thief, so harsh condemnation awaits the deceitful.
15 Ni en lo grande ni en lo pequeño yerres, ni de amigo te vuelvas enemigo.	15 Avoid offences in great as in smal matters, and do not exchange friendship for enmity,
