1 Postquam autem aedificatus est murus, et posui valvas et recen suiianitores et cantores et Levitas,1 Now, when the wal had been rebuilt and I had hung the doors, the gatekeepers (the singers and theLevites) were then appointed.

3 et dixi eis: “ Non aperiantur portae Ierusalemusque ad calorem solis. Dum adhuc calor permanet, claudantur portae etoppilentur; et ponant custodes de habitatoribus Ierusalem, singulos per vicessuas et unumquemque contra domum suam ”.

72 The priests, the Levites and some of the people lived in Jerusalem and thereabouts; the singers, thegatekeepers, and the temple slaves in their appropriate towns; and al the other Israelites, in their own towns.Now when the seventh month came round -- the Israelites being in their towns-
