Geremia 47

BIBBIA TINTORI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Parola che fu detta dal Signore al profeta Geremia contro i filistei, avanti che Faraone prendesse Gaza.	1 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremias the prophet against the people of Palestine, before Pharao took Gaza.
2 Queste cose dice il Signore: « Ecco che le acque salgono dal settentrione, e diverranno come torrente che inonda, e sommergeranno la terra e tutto ciò che contiene, le città coi loro abitanti, e gli uomini grideranno, e alzeranno le strida tutti gli abitanti della terra.	2 Thus saith the Lord: Behold there come up waters out of the north, and they shall be as an overflowing torrent, and they shall cover the land, and all that is therein, the city and the inhabitants thereof: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl,
3 Al rumor delle splendide armi e dei suoi guerrieri, al fracasso dei suoi cocchi e delle molte sue ruote, i padri non han guardato più ai figli, perduto il vigor delle braccia,	3 At the noise of the marching of arms, and of his soldiers, at the rushing of his chariots, and the multitude of his wheels. The fathers have not looked back to the children, for feebleness of hands,
4 perché è venuto il giorno in cui i filistei saranno sterminati, ridotti al niente Tiro e Sidone con tutti gli altri loro alleati, perchè il Signore ha devastato i Filistei, avanzi dell'isola di Cappadocia.	4 Because of the coming of the day, in which all the Philistines shall be laid waste, and Tyre and Sidon shall be destroyed, with all the rest of their helpers. For the Lord hath wasted the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Cappadocia.
5 E' venuta la calvizie sopra Gaza, Ascalona è in silenzio, così il resto delle loro valli. Fino a quando ti farai delle incisioni	5 Baldness is come upon Gaza: Ascalon hath held her peace with the remnant of their valley: how long shalt thou cut thyself?
6 O spada del Signore, non ti riposerai mai? Rientra nel fodero, rafreddati e taci.	6 O thou sword of the Lord, how long wilt thou not be quiet? Go into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.
7 E come potrà riposari, se il Signore le ha dati ordini contro Ascalona, contro le ragioni del mare, dove le ha prescritto d'agire? »	7 How shall it be quiet, when the Lord hath given it a charge against Ascalon, and against the countries thereof by the sea side, and there hath made an appointment for it?
