Geremia 43

1 Or quando Geremia ebbe finito di dire al popolo tutte le parole del Signore loro Dio, riguardo alle quali il Signore loro Dio gli aveva dato l'ordine di parlare ad essi.	1 When Jeremiah finished speaking to the people all these words of the LORD, their God, with which the LORD had sent him to them,
2 Azaria, figlio di Osaia, Iohanan, figlio di Caree, e tutti gli uomini superbi dissero a Geremia: « Tu spacci menzogne. Non il Signore Dio nostro t'ha mandato a dire: « Non andate in Egitto per abitarvi »,	2 Azariah, son of Hoshaiah, Johanan, son of Kareah, and all the insolent men shouted to Jeremiah: "You lie; it was not the LORD, our God, who sent you to tell us not to go to Egypt to settle.
3 ma Baruc, figlio di Neria, ti istiga contro di noi, per darci in potere dei Caldei, farci morire e deportarci a Babilonia ».	3 It is Baruch, son of Neriah, who stirs you up against us, to hand us over to the Chaldeans to be killed or exiled to Babylon."
4 Così Iohanan, figlio di Caree, tutti i capi dei guerrieri e tutto il popolo non diede retta all'ordine del Signore, di rimanere nella terra di Giuda,	4 Johanan, son of Kareah, and the rest of the leaders and the people did not obey the LORD'S command to stay in the land of Judah.
5 e Iohanan, figlio di Caree, e tutti i capi dei guerrieri presero seco tutti gli avanzi di Giuda ritornati da tutte le nazioni, nelle quali s'eran dispersi, per abitare nella terra di Giuda,	5 Instead, Johanan, son of Kareah, and all the army leaders took along the whole remnant of Judah that had been dispersed among the nations and had returned thence to dwell again in the land of Judah:
6 uomini, donne, bambini, e figlie del re, e tutte le persone lasciate da Nabuzardan, capo delle milizie, con Godolia, figlio di Ahicam figlio di Safan, e il profeta Geremia, e Baruc figlio di Neria,	6 men, women, and children, the princesses and everyone whom Nebuzaradan, captain of the bodyguard, had entrusted to Gedaliah, son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan; also Jeremiah, the prophet, and Baruch, son of Neriah.
7 ed entrarono nella terra d'Egitto, disobbedendo agli ordini del Signore, e giunsero fino a Tafnis.	7 Against the LORD'S command they went to Egypt, and arrived at Tahpanhes. . . .
8 E in Tafnis la parola del Signore fu indirizzata a Geremia in questi termini:	8 This word of the LORD came to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes:
9 « Prendi colle tue mani delle grosse pietre, e, alla presenza dei Giudei, nascondile nella grotta che è sotto il muro di mattoni alla porta del palazzo di Faraone in Tafnis,	9 Take with you large stones and sink them in mortar in the brickyard at the entrance to the royal building in Tahpanhes, while the men of Judah look on,
10 e dirai loro: Così parla il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Ecco io manderò a chiamare il mio servo, Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, e porrò il suo trono sopra queste pietre che ho fatto nascondere, sopra di esse egli alzerà il suo trono.	10 and then say to them: Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: I will send for my servant Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and bring him here. He will set his throne upon these stones which I, Jeremiah, have sunk, and stretch his canopy over them.
11 E verrà, e flagellerà la terra d'Egitto: chi è per la morte, alla morte, chi è per la schiavitù, alla schiavitù, chi è per la spada, alla spada.	11 He shall come and strike the land of Egypt: with death, whoever is marked for death; with exile, everyone destined for exile; with the sword, all who are intended for the sword.
12 Emetterà il fuoco nei tempii degli dèi d'Egitto, brucerà (i tempii), menerà schiavi (gli dèi), e si ammanterà delle spoglie d'Egitto, come un pastore si copre col suo mantello, e ne uscirà in pace.	12 He shall set fire to the temples of Egypt's gods, and burn the gods or carry them off. As a shepherd delouses his cloak, he shall delouse the land of Egypt and depart victorious.
13 E spezzerà le statue della casa del sole che sono nella terra d'Egitto, e darà alle fiamme i tempii degli dèi dell'Egitto ».	13 He shall smash the obelisks of the temple of the sun in the land of Egypt and destroy with fire the temples of the Egyptian gods.
