Proverbi 3

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Figliuolo mio, non dimenticare il mio insegnamento e il tuo cuore conservi i precetti miei,	1 My child, do not forget my teaching, let your heart keep my principles,
2 perchè lunghi giorni ed anni di vita e la pace per giunta te ne verranno.	2 since they will increase your length of days, your years of life and your wel -being.
3 La misericordia e la verità non ti abbandonino; annodale al tuo collo, scrivile sulle tavole del tuo cuore,	3 Let faithful love and constancy never leave you: tie them round your neck, write them on the tablet ofyour heart.
4 e ti troverai in grazia ed in buon concettopresso Dio e presso gli uomini.	4 Thus you will find favour and success in the sight of God and of people.
5 Confida nel Signore con tutto il tuo cuore e non appoggiarti sulla tua prudenza;	5 Trust wholeheartedly in Yahweh, put no faith in your own perception;
6 in ogni tuo procedere pensa a luied egli dirigerà i tuoi passi.	6 acknowledge him in every course you take, and he wil see that your paths are smooth.
7 Non essere saggio ai tuoi propri occhi, temi Dio e schiva il male.	7 Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom, fear Yahweh and turn your back on evil:
8 Sarà questo un ristoro alle tue viscere ed un refrigerio alle tue ossa.	8 health-giving, this, to your body, relief to your bones.
9 Onora Dio delle tue sostanze e dagli le primizie di tutti i tuoi frutti,	9 Honour Yahweh with what goods you have and with the first-fruits of al your produce;
10 e i tuoi granai saranno ripieni di cibo a sazietàe i tuoi pressoi riboccheranno di vino.	10 then your barns will be fil ed with corn, your vats overflowing with new wine.
11 Figliuol mio, non rigettare la disciplina di Dio e non ti dispiaccia d'esser da lui castigato;	11 My child, do not scorn correction from Yahweh, do not resent his reproof;
12 perchè Dio castiga colui che ama e come un padre, del figlio suo se ne compiace.	12 for Yahweh reproves those he loves, as a father the child whom he loves.
13 L'uomo che trova la sapienza e chi è fornito di prudenza, lui beato!	13 Blessed are those who have discovered wisdom, those who have acquired understanding!
14 È miglior acquisto il suo che guadagnare argento, e rende frutto di pretto e purissimo oro;	14 Gaining her is more rewarding than silver, her yield is more valuable than gold.
15 è più preziosa di qualunque ricchezza e tutte le cose più care non la pareggiano.	15 She is beyond the price of pearls, nothing you could covet is her equal.
16 Tiene nella destra longevità di giorni nella sinistra ricchezze e gloria;	16 In her right hand is length of days; in her left hand, riches and honour.
17 le sue vie sono vie amene, e tutti i suoi sentieri pieni di pace.	17 Her ways are filled with delight, her paths al lead to contentment.
18 Essa è l'albero della vita per quelli che l'afferrano e chi la stringe, fortunato lui!	18 She is a tree of life for those who hold her fast, those who cling to her live happy lives.
19 Il Signore con la sapienza fondò la terra ed eresse i cieli con la prudenza;	19 In wisdom, Yahweh laid the earth's foundations, in understanding he spread out the heavens.
20 per la sua sapienza scaturirono le fonti degli abissie le nubi si condensarono in rugiada.	20 Through his knowledge the depths were cleft open, and the clouds distil the dew.
21 Figliuolo mio, non sfuggano mai dagli occhi tuoi queste cose, fa' tesoro della legge e del consiglio,	21 My child, hold to sound advice and prudence, never let them out of sight;
22 e ciò sarà vita all'anima tua e prezioso ornamento alla tua gola.	22 they wil give life to your soul and beauty to your neck.
23 Percorrerai così la tua strada in tutta sicurezza e il tuo piede non inciamperà.	23 You wil go on your way in safety, your feet wil not stumble.
24 Se dormi, non paventerai di nulla; ti coricherai e il tuo sonno sarà saporoso.	24 When you go to bed, you wil not be afraid; once in bed, your sleep will be sweet.
25 Non temerai di repentino spavento, nè che ti assalga la prepotenza degli empi;	25 Have no fear either of sudden terror or of attack mounted by wicked men,
26 perchè il Signore sarà al tuo fianco e guarderà il tuo piede affinchè tu non resti preso.	26 since Yahweh will be your guarantor, he wil keep your steps from the snare.
27 Non impedire di fare del bene a chi lo può, se puoi, fa' altrettanto anche tu.	27 Refuse no kindness to those who have a right to it, if it is in your power to perform it.
28 Non dire al tuo amico: «Va' e torna, te la darò domani» se quella cosa la puoi dare subito.	28 Do not say to your neighbour, 'Go away! Come another time! I will give it you tomorrow,' if you can do itnow.
29 Non macchinar male contro il tuo amicomentre egli ha in te tutta la fiducia.	29 Do not plot harm against your neighbour who is living unsuspecting beside you.
30 Non litigare contro nessuno senza motivo, quando non t'abbia cagionato del male.	30 Do not pick a groundless quarrel with anyone who has done you no harm.
31 Non farti emulo dell'uomo ingiusto e non imitare la sua condotta.	31 Do not envy the man of violence, never model your conduct on his;
32 Perchè ogni schernitore è in abominio al Signore che con i semplici è in segreta intimità.	32 for the wilful wrong-doer is abhorrent to Yahweh, who confides only in the honest.
33 Nella casa dell'empio vien da Dio la povertà, ma le abitazioni dei giusti saranno benedette.	33 Yahweh's curse lies on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the upright.
34 Egli si beffa dei beffardi, ma ai mansueti darà grazia.	34 He mocks those who mock, but accords his favour to the humble.
35 I sapienti possederanno la gloria, l'esaltamento degli stolti sarà l'ignominia.	35 Glory is the portion of the wise, all that fools inherit is contempt.
