1 Non essere geloso della donna che riposa sul tuo seno, per non darle a tuo danno un cattivo insegnamento.	1 Be not jealous of the wife of your bosom, lest you teach her to do evil against you.
2 Non darti interamente a una donna, sì che essa s’imponga sulla tua forza.	2 Give no woman power over you to trample upon your dignity.
3 Non dare appuntamento a una donna licenziosa, perché tu non abbia a cadere nei suoi lacci.	3 Be not intimate with a strange woman, lest you fall into her snares.
4 Non frequentare una cantante, per non essere preso dalle sue seduzioni.	4 With a singing girl be not familiar, lest you be caught in her wiles.
5 Non fissare il tuo sguardo su una vergine, per non essere coinvolto nella sua punizione.	5 Entertain no thoughts against a virgin, lest you be enmeshed in damages for her.
6 Non perderti dietro alle prostitute, per non dissipare il tuo patrimonio.	6 Give not yourself to harlots, lest you surrender your inheritance.
7 Non curiosare nelle vie della città, non aggirarti nei suoi luoghi solitari.	7 Gaze not about the lanes of the city and wander not through its squares;
8 Distogli l’occhio da una donna avvenente, non fissare una bellezza che non ti appartiene. Per la bellezza di una donna molti si sono rovinati, l’amore per lei brucia come un fuoco.	8 Avert your eyes from a comely woman; gaze not upon the beauty of another's wife-- Through woman's beauty many perish, for lust for it burns like fire.
9 Non sederti accanto a una donna sposata, e con lei non frequentare banchetti bevendo vino, perché il tuo cuore non corra dietro a lei e per la passione tu non vada in rovina.	9 With a married woman dine not, recline not at table to drink by her side, Lest your heart be drawn to her and you go down in blood to the grave.
10 Non abbandonare un vecchio amico, perché quello nuovo non è uguale a lui. Vino nuovo, amico nuovo: quando sarà invecchiato, lo berrai con piacere.	10 Discard not an old friend, for the new one cannot equal him. A new friend is like new wine which you drink with pleasure only when it has aged.
11 Non invidiare il successo di un peccatore, perché non sai quale sarà la sua fine.	11 Envy not a sinner's fame, for you know not what disaster awaits him.
12 Non compiacerti del benessere degli empi, ricòrdati che non rimarranno impuniti fino alla morte.	12 Rejoice not at a proud man's success; remember he will not reach death unpunished.
13 Stai lontano dall’uomo che ha il potere di uccidere e non sperimenterai il timore della morte. Se l’avvicini, stai attento a non sbagliare, perché egli non ti tolga la vita; sappi che cammini in mezzo ai lacci e ti muovi sui bastioni della città.	13 Keep far from the man who has power to kill, and you will not be filled with the dread of death. But if you approach him, offend him not, lest he take away your life; Know that you are stepping among snares and walking over a net.
14 Per quanto puoi, mantieni buoni rapporti con i vicini, ma consìgliati solo con i saggi.	14 As best you can, take your neighbors' measure, and associate with the wise.
15 Conversa con uomini assennati e ogni tuo colloquio sia sulle leggi dell’Altissimo.	15 With the learned be intimate; let all your conversation be about the law of the LORD.
16 Tuoi commensali siano gli uomini giusti, il tuo vanto sia nel timore del Signore.	16 Have just men for your table companions; in the fear of God be your glory.
17 Per la mano degli artigiani l’opera merita lode, ma il capo del popolo è saggio per il parlare.	17 Skilled artisans are esteemed for their deftness; but the ruler of his people is the skilled sage.
18 Un uomo chiacchierone è temuto nella sua città, chi non sa controllare le parole è detestato.	18 Feared in the city is the man of railing speech, and he who talks rashly is hated.
