1 Dopo di lui sorse Natan, per profetizzare nei giorni di Davide.	1 After him came NATHAN who served in the presence of David.
2 Come dal sacrificio di comunione si preleva il grasso, così Davide fu scelto tra i figli d’Israele.	2 Like the choice fat of the sacred offerings, so was DAVID in Israel.
3 Egli scherzò con leoni come con capretti, con gli orsi come con agnelli.	3 He made sport of lions as though they were kids, and of bears, like lambs of the flock.
4 Nella sua giovinezza non ha forse ucciso il gigante e cancellato l’ignominia dal popolo, alzando la mano con la pietra nella fionda e abbattendo la tracotanza di Golia?	4 As a youth he slew the giant and wiped out the people's disgrace, When his hand let fly the slingstone that crushed the pride of Goliath.
5 Egli aveva invocato il Signore, l’Altissimo, che concesse alla sua destra la forza di eliminare un potente guerriero e innalzare la potenza del suo popolo.	5 Since he called upon the Most High God, who gave strength to his right arm To defeat the skilled warrior and raise up the might of his people,
6 Così lo esaltarono per i suoi diecimila, lo lodarono nelle benedizioni del Signore offrendogli un diadema di gloria.	6 Therefore the women sang his praises and ascribed to him tens of thousands. When he assumed the royal crown, he battled
7 Egli infatti sterminò i nemici all’intorno e annientò i Filistei, suoi avversari; distrusse la loro potenza fino ad oggi.	7 and subdued the enemy on every side. He destroyed the hostile Philistines and shattered their power till our own day.
8 In ogni sua opera celebrò il Santo, l’Altissimo, con parole di lode; cantò inni a lui con tutto il suo cuore e amò colui che lo aveva creato.	8 With his every deed he offered thanks to God Most High, in words of praise. With his whole being he loved his Maker and daily had his praises sung;
9 Introdusse musici davanti all’altare e con i loro suoni rese dolci le melodie. Ogni giorno essi eseguono le loro musiche.	9 He added beauty to the feasts and solemnized the seasons of each year With string music before the altar, providing sweet melody for the psalms
10 Conferì splendore alle feste, abbellì i giorni festivi fino alla perfezione, facendo lodare il nome santo del Signore ed echeggiare fin dal mattino il santuario.	10 So that when the Holy Name was praised, before daybreak the sanctuary would resound.
11 Il Signore perdonò i suoi peccati, innalzò la sua potenza per sempre, gli concesse un’alleanza regale e un trono di gloria in Israele.	11 The LORD forgave him his sins and exalted his strength forever; He conferred on him the rights of royalty and established his throne in Israel.
12 Dopo di lui sorse un figlio saggio, che, grazie a lui, abitò in un vasto territorio.	12 Because of his merits he had as his successor a wise son, who lived in security:
13 Salomone regnò nei giorni di pace, per lui Dio concesse tranquillità all’intorno, perché costruisse una casa per il suo nome e preparasse un santuario per sempre.	13 SOLOMON reigned during an era of peace, for God made tranquil all his borders. He built a house to the name of God, and established a lasting sanctuary.
14 Come fosti saggio nella tua giovinezza e fosti colmo d’intelligenza come un fiume!	14 How wise you were when you were young, overflowing with instruction, like the Nile in flood!
15 La tua fama ricoprì la terra, che tu riempisti di sentenze difficili.	15 Your understanding covered the whole earth, and, like a sea, filled it with knowledge.
16 Il tuo nome giunse lontano, fino alle isole, e fosti amato nella tua pace.	16 Your fame reached distant coasts, and their peoples came to hear you;
17 Per i canti, i proverbi, le sentenze e per i responsi ti ammirarono i popoli.	17 With song and story and riddle, and with your answers, you astounded the nations.
18 Nel nome del Signore Dio, che è chiamato Dio d’Israele, hai accumulato l’oro come stagno, hai ammassato l’argento come piombo.	18 You were called by that glorious name which was conferred upon Israel. Gold you gathered like so much iron, you heaped up silver as though it were lead;
19 Ma hai steso i tuoi fianchi accanto alle donne e ne fosti dominato nel tuo corpo.	19 But you abandoned yourself to women and gave them dominion over your body.
20 Hai macchiato la tua gloria e hai profanato la tua discendenza, così da attirare l’ira divina sui tuoi figli ed essere colpito per la tua stoltezza.	20 You brought dishonor upon your reputation, shame upon your marriage, Wrath upon your descendants, and groaning upon your domain;
21 Perciò fu diviso in due il tuo dominio e da Èfraim ebbe inizio un regno ribelle.	21 Thus two governments came into being, when in Ephraim kingship was usurped.
22 Ma il Signore non ha rinnegato la sua misericordia, non ha lasciato cadere nessuna delle sue parole. Non ha fatto perire la posterità del suo eletto e non ha distrutto la stirpe di colui che lo aveva amato. Egli concesse un resto a Giacobbe e a Davide un germoglio nato da lui.	22 But God does not withdraw his mercy, nor permit even one of his promises to fail. He does not uproot the posterity of his chosen one, nor destroy the offspring of his friend. So he gave to Jacob a remnant, to David a root from his own family.
23 Salomone andò a riposare con i suoi padri e dopo di sé lasciò un discendente, stoltezza del popolo e privo di senno, Roboamo, che si alienò il popolo con le sue decisioni, e Geroboamo, figlio di Nabat, che indusse Israele a peccare e aprì a Èfraim la via del peccato.	23 Solomon finally slept with his fathers, and left behind him one of his sons, Expansive in folly, limited in sense, REHOBOAM, who by his policy made the people rebel; Until one arose who should not be remembered, the sinner who led Israel into sin, Who brought ruin to Ephraim
24 Le loro colpe si moltiplicarono tanto da farli esiliare dal proprio paese.	24 and caused them to be exiled from their land. Their sinfulness grew more and more,
