BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il malvagio fugge anche se nessuno lo insegue, mentre il giusto è sicuro come un giovane leone.	1 The wicked flees when no one is pursuing, the upright is bold as a lion.
2 Quando un paese è in subbuglio sono molti i suoi capi, ma con un uomo intelligente e saggio l’ordine si mantiene.	2 A country in revolt throws up many leaders: with one person wise and experienced, you have stability.
3 Un povero che opprime i miseri è come pioggia torrenziale che non porta pane.	3 The wicked oppresses the weak: here is a devastating rain -- and farewell, bread!
4 Quelli che trasgrediscono la legge lodano il malvagio, quelli che la osservano gli si mettono contro.	4 Those who forsake the law sing the praises of the wicked, those who observe the law are angered bythem.
5 I malvagi non comprendono la giustizia, ma quelli che cercano il Signore comprendono tutto.	5 The wicked do not know what justice means, those who seek Yahweh understand everything.
6 Meglio un povero dalla condotta integra che uno dai costumi perversi, anche se ricco.	6 Better someone poor living an honest life than someone of devious ways however rich.
7 Osserva la legge il figlio intelligente, chi frequenta gli ingordi disonora suo padre.	7 An intel igent child is one who keeps the Law; an associate of profligates brings shame on his father.
8 Chi accresce il patrimonio con l’usura e l’interesse, lo accumula per chi ha pietà dei miseri.	8 Whoever increases wealth by usury and interest amasses it for someone else who will bestow it on thepoor.
9 Chi allontana l’orecchio per non ascoltare la legge, persino la sua preghiera è spregevole.	9 Whoever refuses to listen to the Law, such a one's very prayer is an abomination.
10 Chi fa deviare i giusti per la via del male, nel suo tranello lui stesso cadrà, mentre gli integri erediteranno il bene.	10 Whoever seduces the honest to evil ways wil fal into his own pit. The blameless are the heirs tohappiness.
11 Il ricco si crede saggio, ma il povero intelligente lo valuta per quello che è.	11 The rich may think himself wise, but the intelligent poor wil unmask him.
12 Grande è l’onore quando esultano i giusti, ma se prevalgono gli empi ognuno si dilegua.	12 When the upright triumph, there is great exultation: when the wicked are in the ascendant, peopletake cover.
13 Chi nasconde le proprie colpe non avrà successo, chi le confessa e le abbandona troverà misericordia.	13 No one who conceals his sins will prosper, whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.
14 Beato l’uomo che sempre teme, ma chi indurisce il cuore cadrà nel male.	14 Blessed the person who is never without fear, whoever hardens his heart will fal into distress.
15 Leone ruggente e orso affamato, tale è un cattivo governatore su un popolo povero.	15 Like a roaring lion or a springing bear is a wicked ruler of a powerless people.
16 Un principe privo di senno moltiplica le angherie, ma chi odia il lucro prolungherà i suoi giorni.	16 An unenlightened ruler is rich in rapacity, one who hates greed wil lengthen his days.
17 Un uomo che è perseguito per omicidio fuggirà fino alla tomba: non lo si trattenga!	17 A man guilty of murder wil flee till he reaches his tomb: let no one halt him!
18 Chi procede con rettitudine sarà salvato, chi va per vie tortuose cadrà all’improvviso.	18 Whoever lives an honest life wil be safe, whoever wavers between two ways falls down in one ofthem.
19 Chi coltiva la sua terra si sazia di pane, chi insegue chimere si sazia di miseria.	19 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.
20 L’uomo leale sarà colmo di benedizioni, chi ha fretta di arricchirsi non sarà esente da colpa.	20 A trustworthy person wil be overwhelmed with blessings, but no one who tries to get rich quickly wilgo unpunished.
21 Non è bene essere parziali, ma per un tozzo di pane si può prevaricare.	21 It is not good to show partiality, but people will do wrong for a mouthful of bread.
22 L’avaro è impaziente di arricchire, ma non pensa che gli piomberà addosso la miseria.	22 The person of greedy eye chases after wealth, not knowing that want wil be the result.
23 Chi corregge un altro troverà alla fine più favore di chi ha una lingua adulatrice.	23 Anyone who reproves another wil enjoy more favour in the end than the flatterer.
24 Chi deruba il padre o la madre e dice: «Non è peccato», è simile a un assassino.	24 Whoever robs father and mother saying, 'Nothing wrong in that!' is comrade for a brigand.
25 L’avido suscita litigi, ma chi confida nel Signore sarà arricchito.	25 The covetous provokes disputes, whoever trusts in Yahweh wil prosper.
26 Chi confida nel suo senno è uno stolto, chi cammina nella saggezza sarà salvato.	26 Whoever trusts his own wit is a fool, anyone whose ways are wise wil be safe.
27 Per chi dona al povero non c’è indigenza, ma chi chiude gli occhi avrà grandi maledizioni.	27 No one who gives to the poor wil ever go short, but whoever closes his eyes will have curses inplenty.
28 Se prevalgono i malvagi, tutti si nascondono; se essi periscono, dominano i giusti.	28 When the wicked are in the ascendant, people take cover, but when they perish, the upright multiply.
