1 Wie ein Wasserbach ist das Herz des Königs in der Hand des Herrn; er lenkt es, wohin er will.	1 As the divisions of waters, so the heart of the king is in the hand of the Lord: whithersoever he will he shall turn it.
2 Jeder meint, sein Verhalten sei richtig, doch der Herr prüft die Herzen.	2 Every way of a man seemeth right to himself: but the Lord weigheth the hearts.
3 Gerechtigkeit üben und Recht ist dem Herrn lieber als Schlachtopfer.	3 To do mercy and judgment, pleaseth the Lord more than victims.
4 Hoffart der Augen, Übermut des Herzens - die Leuchte der Frevler versagt.	4 Haughtiness of the eyes is the enlarging of the heart: the lamp of the wicked is sin.
5 Die Pläne des Fleißigen bringen Gewinn, doch der hastige Mensch hat nur Mangel.	5 The thoughts of the industrious always bring forth abundance: but every sluggard is always in want.

10 Das Verlangen des Frevlers geht nach dem Bösen, sein Nächster findet bei ihm kein Erbarmen.	10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil, he will not have pity on his neighbour.
11 Muß der Zuchtlose büßen, so wird der Unerfahrene weise, belehrt man den Weisen, so nimmt er Einsicht an.	11 When a pestilent man is punished, the little one will be wiser: and if he follow the wise, he will receive knowledge.
12 Der Gerechte handelt klug am Haus des Frevlers, wenn er die Frevler ins Unheil stürzt.	12 The just considereth seriously the house of the wicked, that he may withdraw the wicked from evil.
13 Wer sein Ohr verschließt vor dem Schreien des Armen, wird selbst nicht erhört, wenn er um Hilfe ruft.	13 He that stoppeth his ear against the cry of the poor, shall also cry himself and shall not be heard.

15 Der Gerechte freut sich, wenn Recht geschieht, doch den Übeltäter versetzt das in Schrecken.	15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: and dread to them that work iniquity.

20 Ein kostbarer Schatz ist in der Wohnung des Weisen, aber ein törichter Mensch vergeudet ihn.	20 There is a treasure to be desired, and oil in the dwelling of the just: and the foolish man shall spend it.
21 Wer nach Gerechtigkeit und Güte strebt, findet Leben und Ehre.	21 He that followeth justice and mercy, shall find life, justice, and glory.
22 Der Weise ersteigt die Stadt der Mächtigen und stürzt das Bollwerk, auf das sie vertraut.	22 The wise man hath scaled the city of the strong, and hath cast down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 Wer seinen Mund und seine Zunge behütet, der behütet sein Leben vor Drangsal.	23 He that keepeth his mouth and his tongue, keepeth his soul from distress.

27 Das Opfer der Frevler ist (dem Herrn) ein Gräuel, zumal wenn es in schlechter Absicht dargebracht wird.	27 The sacrifices of the wicked are abominable, because they are offered of wickedness.
28 Ein falscher Zeuge geht zugrunde, wer aber zu hören versteht, redet erfolgreich.	28 A lying witness shall perish: an obedient man shall speak of victory.
29 Der Frevler zeigt Trotz in seiner Miene, der Redliche ordnet seine Wege.	29 The wicked man impudently hardeneth his face: but he that is righteous, correcteth his way.
30 Keine Weisheit gibt es, keine Einsicht, keinen Rat gegenüber dem Herrn.	30 There is no wisdom, there is no prudence, there is no counsel against the Lord.
31 Das Ross wird gerüstet für den Tag der Schlacht, doch der Sieg steht beim Herrn.	31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle: but the Lord giveth safety.
