1 Hae sunt mansiones filiorum Israel, qui egressi sunt de Ae gypto per turmas suas in manu Moysi et Aaron,	1 These were the stages of the journey made by the Israelites when they left Egypt in their companiesunder the leadership of Moses and Aaron.
2 quas descripsit Moyses iuxta castrorum loca, quae Domini iussione mutabant.	2 Moses recorded their starting-points in writing whenever they moved on at Yahweh's order. Thestages, from one starting-point to another, were as fol ows:
3 Profecti igitur de Ramesse mense primo, quinta decima die mensis primi, altera die Paschae, filii Israel in manu excelsa, videntibus cunctis Aegyptiis	3 They left Rameses in the first month. It was the fifteenth day of the first month, the day following thePassover, when the Israelites confidently set out, under the eyes of al Egypt.
4 et sepelientibus primogenitos, quos percusserat Dominus, nam et in diis eorum exercuerat ultionem,	4 The Egyptians were burying those of their own people whom Yahweh had struck down, all the first-born; Yahweh had carried out his judgement on their gods.

6 Et de Succoth venerunt in Etham, quae est in extremis finibus solitudinis.	6 Then they left Succoth and encamped at Etham which is on the edge of the desert.
7 Inde egressi venerunt contra Phihahiroth, quae respicit Beelsephon, et castrametati sunt ante Magdolum.	7 They left Etham, turned back to Pi-Hahiroth, opposite Baal-Zephon, and encamped before Migdol.
8 Profectique de Phihahiroth transierunt per medium mare in solitudinem, et ambulantes tribus diebus per desertum Etham castrametati sunt in Mara.	8 They left Pi-Hahiroth, crossed the sea into the desert, and after marching for three days in the desertof Etham they encamped at Marah.
9 Profectique de Mara venerunt in Elim, ubi erant duodecim fontes aquarum et palmae septuaginta; ibique castrametati sunt.	9 They left Marah and reached Elim. At Elim there were twelve springs of water and seventy palmtrees; they encamped there.
10 Sed et inde egressi fixerunt tentoria super mare Rubrum. Profectique de mari Rubro	10 They left Elim and encamped by the Sea of Reeds.
11 castrametati sunt in deserto Sin;	11 They left the Sea of Reeds and encamped in the desert of Sin.
12 unde egressi venerunt in Daphca.	12 They left the desert of Sin and encamped at Dophkah.

14 Egressique de Alus in Raphidim fixere tentoria, ubi populo defuit aqua ad bibendum;	14 They left Alush and encamped at Rephidim; the people found no drinking water there.

38 Ascenditque Aaron sacerdos in montem Hor, iubente Domino, et ibi mortuus est anno quadragesimo egressionis filiorum Israel ex Aegypto, mense quinto, prima die mensis,	38 The priest Aaron went up Mount Hor on Yahweh's orders and died there in the fortieth year of theexodus of the Israelites from Egypt, in the fifth month, on the first day of the month.
39 cum esset annorum centum viginti trium.	39 Aaron was a hundred and twenty-three years old when he died on Mount Hor.
40 Audivitque Chananaeus rex Arad, qui habitabat in Nageb, in terra Chanaan, venisse filios Israel.	40 The king of Arad, the Canaanite who lived in the Negeb of Canaan, heard of the Israelites' arrival.

48 Profectique de montibus Abarim transierunt ad campestria Moab supra Iordanem contra Iericho;	48 They left the Abarim mountains and encamped on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan oppositeJericho.
49 ibique castrametati sunt de Bethiesimoth usque ad Abelsettim in campestribus Moab.	49 They encamped near the Jordan between Beth-ha-Jeshimoth and Abel-ha-Shittim, on the Plains ofMoab.
50 Ubi locutus est Dominus ad Moysen:	50 Yahweh spoke to Moses on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan by Jericho, and said:
51 “ Praecipe filiis Israel et dic ad eos: Quando transieritis Iordanem intrantes terram Chanaan,	51 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "When you have crossed the Jordan into Canaan,
52 disperdite cunctos habitatores terrae ante vos, confringite omnes imagines eorum et omnes statuas comminuite atque omnia excelsa vastate.	52 you wil drive out al the local inhabitants before you. You wil destroy al their painted images, youwil destroy al their metal statues and you wil demolish al their high places.
53 Possidebitis terram et habitabitis in ea. Ego enim dedi vobis illam in possessionem,	53 You wil take possession of the country and settle in it, for I have given you the country as yourproperty.
54 quam dividetis inter tribus vestras. Maiori dabitis latiorem et minori angustiorem; singulis, ut sors ceciderit, ita tribuetur hereditas; per tribus et familias possessio dividetur.	54 You wil share it out by lot among your clans. To a large clan you wil give a larger heritage, and to asmal er clan you wil give a smal er heritage. Where the lot fal s for each, that wil be his. Your heritage wildepend on the size of your tribe.
55 Sin autem nolueritis expellere habitatores terrae, qui remanserint, erunt vobis quasi spinae in oculis vestris et sudes in lateribus, et adversabuntur vobis in terra habitationis vestrae;	55 If, however, you do not drive out the local inhabitants before you, the ones you al ow to remain wilbe thorns in your eyes and thistles in your sides and wil harass you in the country where you are living,
56 et, quidquid illis cogitaveram facere, vobis faciam ”.	56 and I shal treat you as I intended to treat them." '
