BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Allora s'accostarono a Gesù i suoi discepoli e gli dissero: Chi è più grande nel regno dei cieli?	1 At this time the disciples came to Jesus and said, 'Who is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven?'
2 E Gesù chiamato un pargoletto, lo pose in mezzo a loro	2 So he cal ed a little child to him whom he set among them.
3 e disse: In verità vi dico: se non mutate, e non divenite come pargoli, non entrerete nel regno dei cieli.	3 Then he said, 'In truth I tel you, unless you change and become like little children you wil never enterthe kingdom of Heaven.
4 Chiunque pertanto diventerà umile come questo fanciullo, quello è il più grande nel regno dei cieli.	4 And so, the one who makes himself as little as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven.
5 Chiunque accoglierà in nome mio un pargolo come questo, accoglie me.	5 'Anyone who welcomes one little child like this in my name welcomes me.
6 Chi poi avrà scandalizzato uno di questi piccini che credono in me, sarebbe meglio per lui che gli fosse appesa al collo una macina da asino e fosse sommerso nel fondo del mare.	6 But anyone who is the downfall of one of these little ones who have faith in me would be betterdrowned in the depths of the sea with a great millstone round his neck.
7 Guai al mondo per gli scandali! Certo, è necessario che ci siano degli scandali, ma guai all'uomo per cui lo scandalo succede!	7 Alas for the world that there should be such causes of fal ing! Causes of falling indeed there must be,but alas for anyone who provides them!
8 Or se la tua mano e il tuo piede t'è di scandalo, troncalo e gettalo via da te: meglio è per te giunger alla vita monco e zoppo che, con due mani o due piedi, essere gettato nel fuoco eterno.	8 'If your hand or your foot should be your downfal , cut it off and throw it away: it is better for you toenter into life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire.
9 E se l'occhio tuo ti è di scandalo cavatelo, e gettalo via da te, meglio è per te entrare nella vita con un occhio solo che esser gettato con due, nel fuoco dell'inferno.	9 And if your eye should be your downfal , tear it out and throw it away: it is better for you to enter intolife with one eye, than to have two eyes and be thrown into the hel of fire.
10 Guardatevi dal disprezzare uno di questi fanciulli: vi assicuro che i loro angeli nei cieli vedon sempre il volto del Padre mio che è nei cieli.	10 'See that you never despise any of these little ones, for I tel you that theirin heaven are continually inthe presence of my Father in heaven.
11 Certamente il Figlio dell'uomo è venuto a salvare ciò che s'era perduto.	11
12 Che ve ne pare? Se un uomo ha cento pecore ed una di esse si smarrisce, non lascia le novantanove sui monti e va a cercare la smarrita?	12 'Tel me. Suppose a man has a hundred sheep and one of them strays; will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hillside and go in search of the stray?
13 E se gli avvenga di trovarla, in verità vi dico si rallegra più di questa che delle novantanove non smarrite.	13 In truth I tel you, if he finds it, it gives him more joy than do the ninety-nine that did not stray at al .
14 Così non è volontà del Padre vostro celeste che perisca uno solo di questi piccini.	14 Similarly, it is never the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.
15 Se tuo fratello ha peccato contro di te, va' e correggilo fra te e lui solo; se t'ascolta, hai guadagnato il tuo fratello.	15 'If your brother does something wrong, go and have it out with him alone, between your two selves. Ifhe listens to you, you have won back your brother.
16 E se non ti ascolta, prendi con te uno o due, affinchè per bocca di due o tre testimoni si stabilisca ogni cosa.	16 If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you: whatever the misdemeanour, theevidence of two or three witnesses is required to sustain the charge.
17 E se non ne fa caso, fallo sapere alla Chiesa; se poi non ascolta nemmeno la Chiesa, consideralo come un Gentile e un pubblicano.	17 But if he refuses to listen to these, report it to the community; and if he refuses to listen to thecommunity, treat him like a gentile or a tax col ector.
18 In verità vi dico: quanto legherete sulla terra sarà legato nel cielo; e quanto scioglierete sulla terra sarà sciolto nel cielo.	18 'In truth I tel you, whatever you bind on earth wil be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earthwil be loosed in heaven.
19 Ancora vi dico: se due di voi s'accorderanno sulla terra a domandare qualsiasi cosa, sarà loro concessa dal Padre mio che è nei cieli.	19 'In truth I tel you once again, if two of you on earth agree to ask anything at al , it wil be granted toyou by my Father in heaven.
20 Perchè dove sono due o tre adunati in nome mio ci sono io in mozzo a loro.	20 For where two or three meet in my name, I am there among them.'
21 Allora Pietro, accostatosi a lui, disse: Signore, fino a quante volte, se il mio fratello pecca contro di me, gli dovrò perdonare? fino a sette volte?	21 Then Peter went up to him and said, 'Lord, how often must I forgive my brother if he wrongs me? Asoften as seven times?'
22 Gesù gli rispose: Non ti dico fino a sette, ma fino a settanta volte sette.	22 Jesus answered, 'Not seven, I tel you, but seventy-seven times.
23 Per questo il regno dei cieli è simile ad un re il quale volle fare i conti coi suoi servi.	23 'And so the kingdom of Heaven may be compared to a king who decided to settle his accounts withhis servants.
24 Ed avendo cominciato a fare i conti, gli fu presentato uno che era debitore di dieci mila talenti.	24 When the reckoning began, they brought him a man who owed ten thousand talents;
25 E siccome ei non aveva da pagare, il padrone comandò che fosse venduto lui e la moglie ei figli e quanto aveva, e si saldas­se il debito.	25 he had no means of paying, so his master gave orders that he should be sold, together with his wifeand children and al his possessions, to meet the debt.
26 Ma il servo, gettatoglisi ai piedi, lo scongiurava con dire: Abbi pazienza con me e ti pagherò tutto.	26 At this, the servant threw himself down at his master's feet, with the words, "Be patient with me and Iwil pay the whole sum."
27 E il padrone,mosso a compassione di quel ser­vo,lo lasciò andare condonan­dogli il debito.	27 And the servant's master felt so sorry for him that he let him go and cancel ed the debt.
28 Ma, uscito di lì, quel servo trovò uno dei suoi conservi che gli doveva cento danari; e presolo per la gola lo strangolava dicendo: Paga quan­to mi devi.	28 Now as this servant went out, he happened to meet a fel ow-servant who owed him one hundreddenari ; and he seized him by the throat and began to throttle him, saying, "Pay what you owe me."
29 E il conservo gettatoglisi ai piedi, si raccomanda­va dicendo: Abbi pazienza conme e ti soddisferò di tutto.	29 His fel ow-servant fell at his feet and appealed to him, saying, "Be patient with me and I wil pay you."
30 Ma costui non volle, anzi andò a far­lo mettere in prigione fino a che non avesse pagato.	30 But the other would not agree; on the contrary, he had him thrown into prison til he should pay thedebt.
31 Ora i con­sèrvi vedendo quel che accadeva, grandemente contristati, anda­rono a riferirlo al padrone.	31 His fel ow-servants were deeply distressed when they saw what had happened, and they went totheir master and reported the whole affair to him.
32 Al­lora il padrone chiamò quel ser­vitore e gli disse: Servo ini­quo, io ti ho condonato tutto quel debito perchè ti raccoman­dasti,	32 Then the master sent for the man and said to him, "You wicked servant, I cancelled all that debt ofyours when you appealed to me.
33 e non dovevi anche tu aver pietà d'un tuo conservo, come io l'ho avuta di te?	33 Were you not bound, then, to have pity on your fellow-servant just as I had pity on you?"
34 E sdegnato lo consegnò ai manigoldi, fino a che non avesse pagato tutto il debito.	34 And in his anger the master handed him over to the torturers til he should pay al his debt.
35 Così anche il Padre mio farà a voi, se di cuore ognun di voi non perdona al proprio fratello.	35 And that is how my heavenly Father wil deal with you unless you each forgive your brother from yourheart.'
