Isaia 19

1 Vaticinio a carico dell'Egitto. Ecco che il Signore, montato sopra leggera nuvoletta, entrerà in Egitto: dinanzi a lui crolleranno gli idoli d'Egitto, e il cuore dell'Egitto si struggerà nel suo petto.	1 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the Lord will ascend upon a lofty cloud, and he will enter into Egypt, and the false images of Egypt will be moved before his face, and the heart of Egypt will waste away in its midst.
2 Ed io scaglierò gli Egiziani contro gli Egiziani, e combatteranno, fratello contro fratello, amico contro amico, città contro città, regno contro regno.	2 And I will cause Egyptian to rush against Egyptian. And they will fight: a man against his brother, and a man against his friend, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.
3 E l'Egitto resterà senza spirito nelle sue viscere, ed io distruggerò il suo consiglio. Essi interrogheranno i loro idoli, i loro indovini, i pitoni, i maghi;	3 And the spirit of Egypt will be ruptured to its very core. And I will cast down their plan violently. And they will seek answers from their false images, and their diviners, and those led by demons, and their seers.
4 ma io darò l'Egitto in mano di crudeli padroni, e un re potente li dominerà, — dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti. —	4 And I will deliver Egypt into the hand of cruel masters, and a strong king will dominate them, says the Lord, the God of hosts.
5 Verranno meno le acque del mare e il fiume resterà senz'acqua, seccato,	5 And the waters of the sea will dry up, and the river will be desolate and dry.
6 e i fiumi verranno meno, caleranno e seccheranno i canali arginati, le canne e i giunchi andranno a male.	6 And the rivers will fail. The streams of its banks will diminish and dry up. The reed and the bulrush will wither away.
7 Il letto del canale resterà asciutto fin dal suo principio, ed ogni semenza da innaffiarsi seccherà, diventerà arida, perirà.	7 The channel of the river will be stripped down to its source, and everything irrigated by it will dry up and wither and be no more.
8 E gemeranno i pescatori, piangeranno tutti quelli che gettano l'amo nel fiume, e quelli che stendono le reti sopra le acque saran desolati.	8 And the fishermen will grieve. And all who cast a hook into the river will mourn. And those who cast a net upon the surface of its waters will languish.
9 Saran confusi i lavoratori del lino, gli scardassatori e i tessitori di panni fini.	9 Those who work with linen, combing and weaving fine textiles, will be confounded.
10 I suoi luoghi irrigati saran senz'acqua, (così) tutti quelli che facevan fosse per prendere i pesci.	10 And its irrigated places will begin to fail, with all those who make pools to take fish.
11 I principi di Tanis sono stolti, i sapienti consiglieri di Faraone diedero insensato consiglio. Come potrete dire a Faraone: « Io sono figlio di sapienti, figlio degli antichi re? »	11 The leaders of Tanis are foolish. The wise counselors of Pharaoh have given foolish counsel. How can you say to Pharaoh: “I am the son of wisemen, the son of the kings of antiquity?”
12 Dove sono ora i tuoi sapienti? Ti annunzino, ti espongano ciò che il Signore degli eserciti ha decretato sopra l'Egitto.	12 Where are your wisemen now? Let them announce it to you, and let them reveal what the Lord of hosts intends for Egypt.
13 I principi di Tanis sono divenuti stolti, si sono scoraggiati i principi di Menti, hanno ingannato l'Egitto i capi dei suoi popoli.	13 The leaders of Tanis have become foolish. The leaders of Memphis have decayed. They have deceived Egypt, the corner of its people.
14 Il Signore ha diffuso in mezzo a loro lo spirito di vertigine; ed essi fanno errare l'Egitto in ogni sua azione, come erra un briaco che vomita.	14 The Lord has mixed a spirit of giddiness into its midst. And they have caused Egypt to err in all its works, like a drunken man who staggers and vomits.
15 E non avrà mai l'Egitto un'opera che faccia capo e coda, suddito e superiore.	15 And there will be no work for Egypt that would produce a head or a tail, one who bows down or one who refrains from bowing down.
16 In quel giorno l'Egitto sarà come le donne, stupiranno, si spaventeranno al muoversi della mano del Signore degli eserciti, che Egli stesso stenderà contro di loro.	16 In that day, Egypt will be like women, and they will be stupefied and fearful before the presence of the shaking hand of the Lord of hosts, the hand which he will move over them.
17 E la terra di Giuda sarà di terrore all'Egitto, tutti quelli che si ricorderanno di lei tremeranno per il decreto del Signore degli eserciti, che Egli stesso ha stabilito contro di loro.	17 And the land of Judah will be a dread to Egypt. Everyone who thinks about it will be terrified before the presence of the plan of the Lord of hosts, the plan which he has decided concerning them.
18 In quel giorno vi saranno cinque città nella terra d'Egitto che parleranno la lingua di Canaan, e giureranno pel Signore degli eserciti: una sarà chiamata città del sole.	18 In that day, there will be five cities in the land of Egypt which speak the language of Canaan, and which swear by the Lord of hosts. One will be called the City of the Sun.
19 In quel giorno vi sarà l'altare del Signore nel mezzo della terra d'Egitto. E il monumento del Signore ai suoi confini	19 In that day, there will be an altar of the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt and a monument of the Lord beside its borders.
20 sarà segno e testimonianza pel Signore degli eserciti nella terra d'Egitto; alzeranno la voce al Signore contro l'oppressore, ed Egli manderà loro un salvatore, un difensore a liberarli.	20 This shall be a sign and a testimony to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt. For they will cry out to the Lord before the face of the tribulation, and he will send them a savior and a defender who will free them.
21 E il Signore sarà conosciuto dall'Egitto, e gli Egiziani in quel giorno conosceranno il Signore, e l'onoreranno con sacrifizi e offerte, faran dei voti al Signore e li adempiranno,	21 And the Lord will be acknowledged by Egypt, and the Egyptians will recognize the Lord in that day, and they will worship him with sacrifices and gifts. And they will make vows to the Lord, and they will fulfill them.
22 e il Signore percuoterà l'Egitto, farà la piaga e la risanerà. E torneranno al Signore, il quale si placherà e li sanerà.	22 And the Lord will strike Egypt with a scourge, and he will heal them. And they will return to the Lord. And he will be placated toward them, and he will heal them.
23 In quel giorno vi sarà una via tra l'Egitto e l'Assiria: l'Assiro andrà in Egitto, l'Egiziano andrà in Assiria, e serviranno (il Signore) gli Egiziani e gli Assiri.	23 In that day, there will be a way from Egypt to the Assyrians, and the Assyrian will enter into Egypt, and the Egyptian will be with the Assyrians, and the Egyptians will serve Assur.
24 In quel giorno Israele s'unirà, terzo, all'Egitto e all'Assiria, come benedizione in mezzo alla terra	24 In that day, will Israel be the third to the Egyptian and the Assyrian, a blessing in the midst of the earth,
25 alla quale il Signore ha data la benedizione dicendo: « Benedetto sia il mio popolo d'Egitto, e l'Assiro, opera delle mie mani, e Israele, mia eredità ».	25 which the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying: Blessed be my people of Egypt, and the work of my hands for the Assyrian, but Israel is my inheritance.
