1 Vaticinio a carico dell'Egitto. Ecco che il Signore, montato sopra leggera nuvoletta, entrerà in Egitto: dinanzi a lui crolleranno gli idoli d'Egitto, e il cuore dell'Egitto si struggerà nel suo petto.	1 Oracle on Egypt: See, the LORD is riding on a swift cloud on his way to Egypt; The idols of Egypt tremble before him, the hearts of the Egyptians melt within them.
2 Ed io scaglierò gli Egiziani contro gli Egiziani, e combatteranno, fratello contro fratello, amico contro amico, città contro città, regno contro regno.	2 I will rouse Egypt against Egypt: brother will war against brother, Neighbor against neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kindgom.
3 E l'Egitto resterà senza spirito nelle sue viscere, ed io distruggerò il suo consiglio. Essi interrogheranno i loro idoli, i loro indovini, i pitoni, i maghi;	3 The courage of the Egyptians ebbs away within them, and I will bring to nought their counsel; They shall consult idols and charmers, ghosts and spirits.
4 ma io darò l'Egitto in mano di crudeli padroni, e un re potente li dominerà, — dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti. —	4 I will deliver Egypt into the power of a cruel master, A harsh king who shall rule over them, says the Lord, the LORD of hosts.
5 Verranno meno le acque del mare e il fiume resterà senz'acqua, seccato,	5 The waters shall be drained from the sea, the river shall shrivel and dry up;
6 e i fiumi verranno meno, caleranno e seccheranno i canali arginati, le canne e i giunchi andranno a male.	6 Its streams shall become foul, and the canals of Egypt shall dwindle and dry up. Reeds and rushes shall wither away,
7 Il letto del canale resterà asciutto fin dal suo principio, ed ogni semenza da innaffiarsi seccherà, diventerà arida, perirà.	7 and bulrushes on the bank of the Nile; All the sown land along the Nile shall dry up and blow away, and be no more.
8 E gemeranno i pescatori, piangeranno tutti quelli che gettano l'amo nel fiume, e quelli che stendono le reti sopra le acque saran desolati.	8 The fishermen shall mourn and lament, all who cast hook in the Nile; Those who spread their nets in the water shall pine away.
9 Saran confusi i lavoratori del lino, gli scardassatori e i tessitori di panni fini.	9 The linen-workers shall be disappointed, the combers and weavers shall turn pale;
10 I suoi luoghi irrigati saran senz'acqua, (così) tutti quelli che facevan fosse per prendere i pesci.	10 The spinners shall be crushed, all the hired laborers shall be despondent.
11 I principi di Tanis sono stolti, i sapienti consiglieri di Faraone diedero insensato consiglio. Come potrete dire a Faraone: « Io sono figlio di sapienti, figlio degli antichi re? »	11 Utter fools are the princes of Zoan! the wisest of Pharaoh's advisers give stupid counsel. How can you say to Pharaoh, "I am a disciple of wise men, of ancient kings"?
12 Dove sono ora i tuoi sapienti? Ti annunzino, ti espongano ciò che il Signore degli eserciti ha decretato sopra l'Egitto.	12 Where then are your wise men? Let them tell you and make known What the LORD of hosts has planned against Egypt.
13 I principi di Tanis sono divenuti stolti, si sono scoraggiati i principi di Menti, hanno ingannato l'Egitto i capi dei suoi popoli.	13 The princes of Zoan have become fools, the princes of Memphis have been deceived. The chiefs of her tribes have led Egypt astray.
14 Il Signore ha diffuso in mezzo a loro lo spirito di vertigine; ed essi fanno errare l'Egitto in ogni sua azione, come erra un briaco che vomita.	14 The LORD has prepared among them a spirit of dizziness, And they have made Egypt stagger in whatever she does, as a drunkard staggers in his vomit.
15 E non avrà mai l'Egitto un'opera che faccia capo e coda, suddito e superiore.	15 Egypt shall have no work to do for head or tail, palm branch or reed.
16 In quel giorno l'Egitto sarà come le donne, stupiranno, si spaventeranno al muoversi della mano del Signore degli eserciti, che Egli stesso stenderà contro di loro.	16 On that day the Egyptians shall be like women, trembling with fear, because of the LORD of hosts shaking his fist at them.
17 E la terra di Giuda sarà di terrore all'Egitto, tutti quelli che si ricorderanno di lei tremeranno per il decreto del Signore degli eserciti, che Egli stesso ha stabilito contro di loro.	17 And the land of Judah shall be a terror to the Egyptians. Every time they remember Judah, they shall stand in dread because of the plan which the LORD of hosts has in mind for them.
18 In quel giorno vi saranno cinque città nella terra d'Egitto che parleranno la lingua di Canaan, e giureranno pel Signore degli eserciti: una sarà chiamata città del sole.	18 On that day there shall be five cities in the land of Egypt speaking the language of Canaan and swearing by the LORD of hosts; one shall be called "City of the Sun."
19 In quel giorno vi sarà l'altare del Signore nel mezzo della terra d'Egitto. E il monumento del Signore ai suoi confini	19 On that day there shall be an altar to the LORD in the land of Egypt, and a sacred pillar to the LORD near the boundary.
20 sarà segno e testimonianza pel Signore degli eserciti nella terra d'Egitto; alzeranno la voce al Signore contro l'oppressore, ed Egli manderà loro un salvatore, un difensore a liberarli.	20 It shall be a sign and a witness to the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt, when they cry out to the LORD against their oppressors, and he sends them a savior to defend and deliver them.
21 E il Signore sarà conosciuto dall'Egitto, e gli Egiziani in quel giorno conosceranno il Signore, e l'onoreranno con sacrifizi e offerte, faran dei voti al Signore e li adempiranno,	21 The LORD shall make himself known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day; they shall offer sacrifices and oblations, and fulfill the vows they make to the LORD.
22 e il Signore percuoterà l'Egitto, farà la piaga e la risanerà. E torneranno al Signore, il quale si placherà e li sanerà.	22 Although the LORD shall smite Egypt severely, he shall heal them; they shall turn to the LORD and he shall be won over and heal them.
23 In quel giorno vi sarà una via tra l'Egitto e l'Assiria: l'Assiro andrà in Egitto, l'Egiziano andrà in Assiria, e serviranno (il Signore) gli Egiziani e gli Assiri.	23 On that day there shall be a highway from Egypt to Assyria; the Assyrians shall enter Egypt, and the Egyptians enter Assyria, and Egypt shall serve Assyria.
24 In quel giorno Israele s'unirà, terzo, all'Egitto e all'Assiria, come benedizione in mezzo alla terra	24 On that day Israel shall be a third party with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the land,
25 alla quale il Signore ha data la benedizione dicendo: « Benedetto sia il mio popolo d'Egitto, e l'Assiro, opera delle mie mani, e Israele, mia eredità ».	25 when the LORD of hosts blesses it: "Blessed be my people Egypt, and the work of my hands Assyria, and my inheritance, Israel."
