1 Ecco le ultime parole di David: « Disse David figlio d'Isai, disse l'uomo a cui fu parlato del Cristo del Dio di Giacobbe, l'egregio salmista d'Israele:	1 Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,
2 Lo Spirito del Signore ha parlato per me, la sua parola sulla mia lingua,	2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.
3 il Dio d'Israele mi ha detto, il Forte d'Israele ha parlato: il Dominatore degli uomini, il Giusto che dominerà nel timore di Dio,	3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
4 sarà come la luce dell'aurora che al levarsi del sole, al mattino brilla senza nubi: come dopo la pioggia, germina l'erba dalla terra.	4 And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.
5 La mia casa non è da tanto presso Dio; eppure Egli ha fatta con me un'alleanza eterna, stabile in tutto ed immutabile. Essa è tutta la mia salute e tutto il mio desiderio, e non vi è nulla che da essa non abbia origine.	5 Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.
6 Ma i prevaricatori saranno estirpati tutti come spine, che non si prendono colle mani;	6 But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:
7 ma se uno vuol toccarle s'arma di ferro o d'asta di lancia: bruciate col fuoco saranno consumate fino alla distruzione ».	7 But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.
8 Questi sono i nomi dei prodi di David: colui che sedeva sulla cattedra, il più savio, il primo fra i tre, come il piccol vermicciolo del legno uccise ottocento persone in una sola volta.	8 These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.
9 Dopo lui, Eleazaro Ahohita, figlio dello zio paterno di lui. Fu dei tre prodi che erano con David quando insultarono i Filistei, i quali si riunirono lì per la battaglia.	9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:
10 Essendo saliti gli uomini d'Israele, egli si fermò e percosse i Filistei fino a che la sua mano stanca, s'irrigidì tenendo la spada. Il Signore concesse una vittoria grande in quel giorno, e il popolo, che era fuggito, tornò a spogliare gli uccisi.	10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.
11 Dopo di lui, Semina, figlio di Age di Arari, essendosi i Filistei radunati in un posto ove era un campo pieno di lenticchie, ed essendo il popolo fuggito davanti ai Filistei,	11 And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.
12 egli si fermò nel mezzo del campo, lo difese e percosse i Filistei, e il Signore gli accordò una grande vittoria.	12 But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.
13 Tre dei primi fra i trenta discesero e andarono da David nella spelonca di Odollam, al tempo della mietitura, mentre il campo dei Filistei era posto nella Valle dei Giganti.	13 And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.
14 David era allora nella fortezza, e i Filistei avevano un presidio in Betlem.	14 And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.
15 David espresse un desiderio e disse: « Oh! se uno mi desse un sorso dell'acqua della cisterna che è in Betlem vicino alla porta ».	15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!
16 I tre prodi allora passaron pel campo dei Filistei, andarono ad attingere l'acqua dalla cisterna che era vicino alla porta di Betlem e la recarono a David. Ma egli non ne volle bere, e ne fece una libazione al Signore,	16 And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.
17 dicendo: « Il Signore mi guardi da far tal cosa! Berrò io il sangue di questi uomini che sono andati a porre a rischio la loro vita? » Egli non ne volle bere; ma ecco quanto fecero quei tre prodi.	17 And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.
18 Poi Abisai, fratello di Gioab, figlio di Sarvia: egli era il primo dei tre; egli, che brandì la sua lancia contro trecento uomini e li uccise, era famoso fra i tre.	18 And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.
19 Egli era il più nobile fra i tre, e loro capo, ma non arrivava quei tre primi.	19 Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.
20 Poi Banaia, di Cabseel, figlio di Ioiada, uomo fortissimo e di grandi imprese. Egli uccise i due leoni di Moab e scese ad ammazzare un leone dentro una cisterna, nel tempo della neve.	20 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:
21 Egli uccise ancora un Egiziano, uomo spettacoloso che aveva la lancia in mano. Banaia gli andò contro col bastone, e, strappata a forza la lancia di mano all'Egiziano, lo uccise colla sua stessa lancia.	21 And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
22 Queste cose fece Banaia figlio di Ioiada.	22 These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.
23 Egli era famoso fra i tre prodi che eran i più gloriosi dei trenta; ma non arrivava quei tre. David lo fece suo consigliere intimo.	23 He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.
24 Fra i trenta v'erano Asael fratello di Gioab, Elehanan di Betlem, figlio di uno zio paterno di Asael,	24 Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
25 Semma di Arodi, Elica di Arodi,	25 Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,
26 Eles di Falti, Hira di Tecua figlio di Acces,	26 Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
27 Abiezer di Anatot, Mobonnai di Elusati,	27 Abiezer the Anethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,
28 Selmon Ahohita, Maharai di Netofat,	28 Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,
29 Heled figlio di Baana, che era pure di Netofat, Itai figlio di Ribai di Gabaat, dei figli di Beniamino;	29 Heleb the son of Baanah, a Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,
30 Banaia di Faraton, Eddai del torrente di Gaas,	30 Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,
31 Abialbon di Arbat, Azmavet di Beromi,	31 Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,
32 Eliaba di Salaboni; i figli di Iassen, Ionatan,	32 Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,
33 Semina di Orori, Aiam figlio di Sarar Arorite,	33 Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite,
34 Elifelet figlio di Aasbai figlio di Macati, Eliam figlio di Achitòfel Gelonita,	34 Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
35 Hesrai del Carmelo, Farai di Arbi,	35 Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,
36 Igaal di Soba figlio di Natan, Bonni di Gadi,	36 Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,
37 Selec di Ammoni, Naharai Berotita, scudiere di Gioab figlio di Sarvia,	37 Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armourbearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah,
38 Ira di Ietrit, Gareb, pure di Ietrit.	38 Ira an Ithrite, Gareb an Ithrite,
39 Uria Eteo. In tutto trentasette.	39 Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all.
