BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Che cos'ha di più dunque il Giudeo, o qual è l'utilità della circoncisione?	1 Is there any benefit, then, in being a Jew? Is there any advantage in being circumcised?
2 Grande per ogni riguardo. Prima di tutto perchè a lui furono affidati gli oracoli di Dio.	2 A great deal, in every way. First of al , it was to the Jews that the message of God was entrusted.
3 Che dunque? Se alcuni non credettero, forsechè la loro incredulità renderà vana la fedeltà di Dio? non può essere.	3 What if some of them were unfaithful? Do you think their lack of faith could cancel God's faithfulness?
4 Dio è verace, ed «ogni uomo menzognero», conforme sta scritto: «affinchè tu, o Dio, sia riconosciuto giusto quando parli, e abbia vittoria quando ti si giudica».	4 Out of the question! God wil always be true even if no human being can be relied on. As scripturesays: That you may show your saving justice when you pass sentence and your victory may appear when yougive judgement.
5 Che se la nostra iniquità conferma la giustizia di Dio, che diremo? si dirà forse che è ingiusto Iddio il quale dà corso alla sua ira?	5 But if our injustice serves to bring God's saving justice into view, can we say that God is unjust when --to use human terms -- he brings his retribution down on us?
6 (parlo secondo l'uomo); non sia mai; poichè altrimenti come giudicherà Dio il mondo?	6 Out of the question! It would mean that God could not be the judge of the world.
7 E se la veracità di Dio, nella mia menzogna, apparve maggiore, a sua gloria, perchè mi si giudica ancora come peccatore?	7 You might as wel say that if my untruthfulness makes God demonstrate his truthfulness, to his greaterglory, then I should not be judged to be a sinner at al .
8 O non è il caso di dire, (conforme siamo calunniati e conforme alcuni spacciano che noi diciamo), che noi faremo il male acciò ne venga del bene? La condanna di questi calunniatori è giusta.	8 In this case, the slanderous report some people are spreading would be true, that we teach that oneshould do evil that good may come of it. In fact such people are justly condemned.
9 Che dunque? Siamo noi dappiù di essi? niente affatto. Noi abbiam già accusato Giudei e Greci di essere tutti in peccato,	9 Wel : are we any better off? Not at al : we have already indicted Jews and Greeks as being al alikeunder the dominion of sin.
10 conforme sta scritto: «Non vi è alcun giusto, neppur uno;	10 As scripture says: Not one of them is upright, not a single one,
11 non vi è persona di senno, non vi è chi cerchi Dio;	11 not a single one is wise, not a single one seeks God.
12 tutti si sono sviati, e insieme son diventati inutili; non c'è chi faccia il bene, non c'è fino ad uno;	12 Al have turned away, all alike turned sour, not one of them does right, not a single one.
13 tomba aperta è la loro gola; della lingua loro si son fatto mezzo d'inganno; veleno d'aspidi sulle loro labbra;	13 Their throats are wide -- open graves, their tongues seductive. Viper's venom behind their lips;
14 la bocca loro è piena di maledizione e d'amarezza;	14 their speech is ful of cursing and bitterness.
15 veloci i lor piedi per versar sangue;	15 Their feet quick to shed innocent blood,
16 distruzione e miseria nelle strade loro;	16 wherever they go there is havoc and ruin.
17 e la via della pace non conobbero.	17 They do not know the way of peace,
18 Non v'è timor di Dio dinanzi agli occhi loro».	18 there is no fear of God before their eyes.
19 Or noi sappiamo che quanto la Legge dice, lo dice a quelli che son nella Legge, affinchè ogni bocca sia chiusa, e tutto il mondo sia soggetto al giudizio di Dio;	19 Now we are wel aware that whatever the Law says is said for those who are subject to the Law, sothat every mouth may be silenced, and the whole world brought under the judgement of God.
20 perchè dalle opere della Legge «nessuno sarà giustificato dinanzi a Dio», giacchè per via della Legge si ha (solo) la conoscenza del peccato.	20 So then, no human being can be found upright at the tribunal of God by keeping the Law; al that theLaw does is to tell us what is sinful.
21 Ma ora all'infuori della Legge s'è manifestata la giustizia di Dio, attestata dalla Legge stessa e dai Profeti;	21 God's saving justice was witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, but now it has been revealedaltogether apart from law:
22 Giustizia di Dio mediante la fede in Gesù Cristo; estesa a tutti quelli che in essa credono; giacchè non v'è differenza;	22 God's saving justice given through faith in Jesus Christ to al who believe.
23 tutti hanno peccato e rimangono lontani dalla gloria di Dio,	23 No distinction is made: all have sinned and lack God's glory,
24 e son giustificati gratuitamente per la grazia di lui a mezzo della redenzione in Cristo Gesù;	24 and all are justified by the free gift of his grace through being set free in Christ Jesus.
25 lui Dio ha prestabilito mezzo di propiziazione, per via della fede nel suo sangue, per dimostrare la sua giustizia, a motivo della tolleranza per le passate colpe	25 God appointed him as a sacrifice for reconciliation, through faith, by the shedding of his blood, and soshowed his justness; first for the past, when sins went unpunished because he held his hand;
26 durante la sua divina sopportazione; per dimostrare (dico) la sua giustizia nel momento presente, sì da essere lui giusto, e giustificare colui che ha fede in Gesù.	26 and now again for the present age, to show how he is just and justifies everyone who has faith inJesus.
27 Dov'è dunque il tuo vanto? è escluso. Per qual legge? quella delle opere? no, ma per la legge della fede,	27 So what becomes of our boasts? There is no room for them. On what principle- that only actionscount? No; that faith is what counts,
28 poichè riteniamo essere l'uomo giustificato per la fede, all'infuori delle opere della Legge.	28 since, as we see it, a person is justified by faith and not by doing what the Law tel s him to do.
29 Forsechè soltanto dei Giudei è Dio? no, anche delle genti;	29 Do you think God is the God only of the Jews, and not of gentiles too? Most certainly of gentiles too,
30 sicuro, anche delle genti, se è unico Dio quello che giustificherà i circoncisi in seguito alla fede, come i non circoncisi mediante la fede.	30 since there is only one God; he will justify the circumcised by their faith, and he will justify theuncircumcised through their faith.
31 Annulliamo dunque la Legge per via della fede? non sia mai; anzi confermiamo la Legge.	31 Are we saying that the Law has been made pointless by faith? Out of the question; we are placing theLaw on its true footing.
