BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Gesù venne condotto dallo Spirito nel deserto per essere tentato dal diavolo.	1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit out into the desert to be put to the test by the devil.
2 Dopo aver digiunato per quaranta giorni e quaranta notti, ebbe fame.	2 He fasted for forty days and forty nights, after which he was hungry,
3 Il tentatore, avvicinatosi, gli disse: «Se tu sei il Figlio di Dio, comanda a queste pietre di trasformarsi in pane».	3 and the tester came and said to him, 'If you are Son of God, tel these stones to turn into loaves.'
4 Gesù gli rispose: «Sta scritto: " Non di solo pane vive l'uomo, ma d'ogni parola che esce dalla bocca di Dio "».	4 But he replied, 'Scripture says: Human beings live not on bread alone but on every word that comesfrom the mouth of God.'
5 Allora il diavolo lo trasportò nella città santa e, postolo sul pinnacolo del tempio,	5 The devil then took him to the holy city and set him on the parapet of the Temple.
6 gli disse: «Se tu sei il Figlio di Dio, gettati giù di qui, perchè sta scritto: " Egli ha dato per te ordini ai suoi angeli, i quali ti sosterranno sulle loro mani, affinchè il tuo piede non urti contro la pietra "».	6 'If you are Son of God,' he said, 'throw yourself down; for scripture says: He has given his angels ordersabout you, and they will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.'
7 Gesù gli rispose: «Sta scritto: " Non tentare il Signore Dio tuo "».	7 Jesus said to him, 'Scripture also says: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'
8 Di nuovo il diavolo lo portò su di un monte assai elevato e mostrandogli tutti i regni della terra e la loro magnificenza,	8 Next, taking him to a very high mountain, the devil showed him al the kingdoms of the world and theirsplendour.
9 gli disse: «Tutte queste cose io ti darò se, prostrandoti davanti a me, mi adorerai».	9 And he said to him, 'I wil give you al these, if you fal at my feet and do me homage.'
10 Ma Gesù gli rispose: «Va' via, Satana; poichè sta scritto: "Adora il Signore Dio tuo e servi a lui solo"».	10 Then Jesus replied, 'Away with you, Satan! For scripture says: The Lord your God is the one to whomyou must do homage, him alone you must serve.'
11 Allora il diavolo si allontanò da lui, mentre gli angeli gli s'accostarono e lo servivano.	11 Then the devil left him, and suddenly angels appeared and looked after him.
12 Gesù, udito che Giovanni era stato messo in prigione, si ritirò nella Galilea	12 Hearing that John had been arrested he withdrew to Galilee,
13 e, lasciata Nazaret, venne ad abitare a Cafarnao, sulla riva del mare, ai confini di Zabulon e di Neftali,	13 and leaving Nazara he went and settled in Capernaum, beside the lake, on the borders of Zebulun andNaphtali.
14 perchè si adempisse quanto era stato detto dal profeta Isaia:	14 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:
15 «Terra di Zabulon e terra di Neftali, via del mare, al di là del Giordano, Galilea dei Gentili,	15 Land of Zebulun! Land of Naphtali! Way of the sea beyond Jordan. Galilee of the nations!
16 il popolo che giaceva nelle tenebre ha veduto una gran luce; e per gli abitanti nella regione dell'ombra della morte s'è levata una luce».	16 The people that lived in darkness have seen a great light; on those who lived in a country of shadowdark as death a light has dawned.
17 Da quel momento Gesù cominciò a predicare e a dire: «Fate penitenza, perchè il regno dei cieli è vicino».	17 From then onwards Jesus began his proclamation with the message, 'Repent, for the kingdom ofHeaven is close at hand.'
18 Camminando Gesù lungo il mare di Galilea, vide due fratelli, Simone, chiamato poi Pietro, e Andrea suo fratello, che gettavano in mare le reti, perchè eran pescatori.	18 As he was walking by the Lake of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon, who was cal ed Peter, and hisbrother Andrew; they were making a cast into the lake with their net, for they were fishermen.
19 Disse loro: «Venite dietro a me ed io vi farò diventare pescatori di uomini».	19 And he said to them, 'Come after me and I wil make you fishers of people.'
20 Ed essi, lasciate le reti, immediatamente lo seguirono.	20 And at once they left their nets and followed him.
21 Andando oltre vide altri due fratelli, Giacomo, figlio di Zebedeo e Giovanni suo fratello, in una barca col loro padre Zebedeo, mentre raccomodavano le reti, e li chiamò.	21 Going on from there he saw another pair of brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John;they were in their boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he cal ed them.
22 Anch'essi lasciate lì le reti e il padre, subito lo seguirono.	22 And at once, leaving the boat and their father, they fol owed him.
23 Gesù se ne andava attorno per tutta la Galilea, insegnando nelle loro sinagoghe, annunziando il vangelo del regno, e risanando ogni malattia e infermità tra il popolo.	23 He went round the whole of Galilee teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of thekingdom and curing al kinds of disease and il ness among the people.
24 La sua fama si sparse così in tutta la Siria; e gli presentarono tutti gl'infermi, gli affetti da varie malattie e sofferenze, gl'indemoniati i lunatici e i paralitici ed egli li guariva.	24 His fame spread throughout Syria, and those who were suffering from diseases and painful complaintsof one kind or another, the possessed, epileptics, the paralysed, were all brought to him, and he cured them.
25 E lo seguirono grandi folle dalla Galilea, dalla Decapoli, da Gerusalemme, dalla Giudea e dai paesi oltre il Giordano.	25 Large crowds fol owed him, coming from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judaea and Transjordan.
